    We have a friend who is very well traveled in Paris and he recommended we stay away from the RER as it is riddled with pickpockets. Instead he suggested the Roissy bus and that worked like a charm! It was easy to find, wasn't crowded, and had space to put our luggage. Dropped us off at the Opera House and from there we caught the metro to our hotel 👌

    We took the train from CDG to Gare Du Nord. I mention this only to let you know, you MUST hold onto your ticket to get into the station. You had to insert the ticket into a machine to get through the gates and there were security people watching. I thought I had lost mine, but they were friendly and patient while I frantically dug through my pockets. :~D

      Where you have big problems is the return trip to CDG
      You can very easily think your connecting Metro ticket is good to CDG
      It's not you need to buy another ticked at Gare du zNord for the RER B
      I always see passengers stuck and can't get out from the rail terminal at CDG

      @@Delacruz916 No. You must purchase a ticket for the train at one of the kiosks in CDG in order to get to Gare Du Nord. I think it was 10 Euros.

    I found the train to be super clean and easy to get around! Coming from Chicago we’re used to good public transportation and the caveats that come with it, but if you’re used to a big city I think the trains in Paris were excellent

    This is the second video about transportation between CDG and Paris that I’ve watched recently (Les Frenchies) that has omitted the Roissy Bus. That’s different than the RATP routes that Mark refers to. Roissy Bus is fantastic if one happens to be staying near Opéra. Depending upon the time of day, Roissy Bus is actually quite fast to and from CDG.

    Always, always take the express RER B into Paris, never the local. By avoiding the local train with all the stops, you also avoid the crowds and the people you might not want to ride with. The RER from CDG into Paris goes through a less than nice part of Paris. Study the schedule and wait for the express train if you can.

    • @davidthaler7018
      @davidthaler7018 2 роки тому +2

      The “fast trains “ save about 5-7 minutes, but the time spent waiting for one is time you could be on the “local” train headed for Paris. If you want to use a “fast train”, then note the display on the first car which will show a 4-letter route or “mission.” If the mission begins with a K, then it’s a fast train that will likely stop at CDG 1 (the other station at the airport), and possibly Parc des Expositions, before proceeding directly to Gare du Nord.

    Our recent experience taking the RER to CDG was not great. The trains were super crowded and it seemed to take much longer than 30m (I didn't time it!). It was also a little complicated to find where to catch the correct train (at least in the station where we were). But taxi drivers didn't want to drive us! We did make it, but just a note!

    I think it's important to note that you should NEVER take a taxi from someone who comes up to you in the airport - it's a scam! Take one from the taxi stand *only* (and it's a flat fee to Paris, 53€ to the right bank and 58€ to the left bank).

    My travel mate scheduled for us to take a bus from CDG to near the Bastille region. We sat in the back in separate seats. At the very last minute, a man came and sat down right next to me and "man spread" his legs apart. I was disgusted.
    I immediately told him, "Pardonne-moi", "pardonne-moi". "Sortie. Sortie", and I moved to another seat. It wasn't like all the other seats were taken either. I was kind of proud that I was able to use French though.
    I told my travel mate I wanted to take a cab back to CDG when it was time to return.

    Nice guide. What would you suggest in our case. We are arriving August next year. Sometime between early morning and 2pm. It's two of us. One will probably use a wheelchair, and will carry a suitcase with wheels and a carry-on bag. We secured an Airbnb apartment near place de la Republique, so no private driver. I've been thinking about getting an uber since the person using the wheelchair is able to get up and sit in a car and the wheelchair be folded up in the trunk. I also heard that buses are wheelchair friendly, but I don't know if it would be too much of a hassle with the suitcase and the amount of people expected during the Olympics.

This Monday 24 June we went back by train from the Luxemburg, it was RAMMED and I mean RAMMED full, so much they were stopping people getting on at other stations. As for pickpockets I couldn't even get my own hand in my own pocket.
