As a Swede, I´m truely honored by the reactions from England, Portugal and Italy. I remember the days when Sven managed Sampdoria and Lazio and my god the Italians thought he was some kind of a God. Back home, in Sweden, we thought not much about it really, and 1994 he was the expert commentator on the tele for the World Cup, and his humble calm approach to what happened on the pitch in every game were splendid to listen at. Just a remarkable calm voice and i wished you could hear him speak and understand his Swedish when he actually speak. Its just fantastic. You can listen to his accent from "Värmland" that slowly during all those years abroad just melted into a perfect voice to listen at. His looks during the 80-90ths perhaps is a little Mr.Burns from The Simpsons, but his act is far from anything near any evil. Remember him coaching Juan Sebastian Veron and Manchini and those players only said the best things ever about Svens approach to the players. No screaming about, but in a calm way get the tactics right. Imagine that in south Europe. A cold Swede with a humble approach to the game with no threaths whats so ever. Was unheard of back in the days. I cheered so much for the english nation team back when Sven tried his luck there, but got angry over the media, and everything that happened to him back then. His freeking phone for god sake were wired. How sick is that? Anyways, all the love from you guys taking part of saying nice things to this man of honor. /Deepest love from a crazy football fan in Sweden
Hargreaves call-up in 2006 was highly controversial due to his Canadian background. Sven stood up for him with the press and the public even when he was getting grief. Very beautiful relationship between them.

All on the players for me. The club rivalries spilled over into the England camps which caused quite a hostile environment. Ultimately they didn't want to fight for each other.
A poignant and touching review of Sven’s time as England Coach. He is a good man and embraced the passion of English football, it was good to see the former England players wishing Sven all the best, he clearly had a positive influence upon each of them. Thank you Sven for some memorable moments during your tenure as England Coach, I will never forget the 5-1 victory over Germany. God speed!
What a genuinely warm gentleman our Sven is. A wonderful interview, thank you. All the very best wishes to you, Sven. Thank you for all you did for us. The 1-5 in Germany and Beckham’s free-kick are my two best memories in English international football. Two moments I’ll never forget. Stay strong. ❤

Bless him, great manager and a great human. In a job that attracts a lot of criticism and negative feelings, Sven was utterly beloved as England manager and, as sad as the current circumstances are, it’s nice he’s able to receive much-deserved love from all around while he’s still here.
Thank you for your service to my country Sven. You are a kind, honest gentleman and I send you warmest wishes of peace and love. I hope that you discover great strength and positivity when the going gets tough. ❤
All the best to Sven, he is such a gentleman. My grandma died of cancer at the age of 63 and her diagnosis was very similar to Sven's. She told me that it's such a void feeling, just waiting for the end. I was just a kid, but I'll never forget that chat we had, just months before she went.
I always knew that Sven was a gentleman in the truest sense of the word. And to watch him talk and reflect on his time, especially with England, shows how much he cares for us too. It was a tearful experience watching the players pay their respects to him, and it clearly meant so much much to him. Every fibre of me despises cancer, especially how it takes wonderful people far too young from this world. I pray that all terminal cancer sufferers find the love and support they need, and the strength to face their final days peacefully. 🙏🏻
I'm sure he'll be relieved to hear that you've forgotten that you weren't a fan. That's really big of you to forgive a terminally ill man. You are a true hero .
Rest in Peace. He seemed like a positive and kind man until the end. I watched the documentary and it was so nice that he spent so much time with his children and family before he passed.

Loved Svens time at England, even though we didn't win anything and we had a strong team the so called "golden generation", but look at some of the other teams then. France, Brazil, Italy, all incredible. Portugal, Spain and Germany were no slouches then either. We had some moments that will be remembered forever, the 5-1, Beckhams free kick against Greece. Thank you Sven, I hope you live as long and healthily as possible.
What everyone has been doing for him has been really heart warming for his situation, and seeing him on the touch line at Liverpool for his game, it really makes me want to cry, as a manager I have a lot of respect for what he did for the England side and there was a lot of fond memories there, thank you for what you did for England, Sven !
Well Done Sven. You gave us great memories, and we can see that you had a big impact on those players. Stay strong, thoughts and prayers to you and your family.
Im not English, but i like to see other home nations do well, i always liked Sven, and he said he has a 'year at best'. England have the top talent in the world, but in my opinion, they've always lacked the team togetherness. 'Too many individuals' i often hear. Denmark in 1992 had togetherness. Croatia WC 2018 had togetherness. Italy 2006. Spain 2010. Portugal 2016. Again, im not English but im an outside observer... Sven clearly loves England, I suspect he is gutted that he 'failed' in his own word. He may not make the Euro final... but hopefully he does. If youre going to play for something as a team, with a common cause, play not only for your Country... #PlayForSven. Im sure that would mean the world to him in these difficult times. All the best in Euro 2024.
You are right England always has a team of individual players not a team. The only time post '66 we've had thst was the 5-1 against Germany. All the scorers were from Liverpool FC!
He may not have won the World Cup with England, but the game where we beat Germany in their own back yard 1-5 was as good as... For that alone thank you, and as I write this I've heard the news he passed away. Thank you for the good memories Sven. Rest in Peace.

The media is still as bad and not just in football 😕
Otroligt bra skrivet! Håller med om varenda ord. 👏🏼
Hargreaves call-up in 2006 was highly controversial due to his Canadian background. Sven stood up for him with the press and the public even when he was getting grief. Very beautiful relationship between them.
He was England's best player at that world Cup
What an absolutely wonderful and brave courageous man , we will always remember you Sven and you calm tones and your lively smile, RIP Sven you were loved by sooo many, there will never be another Sven you were unique, a true great, a brilliant person and Manager loved by millions !!
Gid bless you fir everything you contributed to English Football.
A journeys end, always remembered , never forgotten.
So many.lovely memories to cherish your wonderful legacy.
RIP dear friend ❤️❤️❤️🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧
As an England fan I refuse to hate this man
Stay strong Sven and thank you for everything
Why the hell would you hate him?
@@wifterofabiftersupporters felt he underachieved with what he had. End of the day there's plenty of reasons but it wasn't his fault.
I don't hate him
Idiots will
You refuse to hate him? That's awfully good of you. Grow up you melt
All on the players for me. The club rivalries spilled over into the England camps which caused quite a hostile environment. Ultimately they didn't want to fight for each other.
I lost my dad a few months ago to cancer, he was the same age as Sven. I hope Sven can find a way to beat this horrible disease. All the best!
He can't, he's terminal, he knows he has up to a year left unfortunately.
Great man, a pure gent he took the hardest job in football being the England boss. His legacy paved the way for the new generation. Top memories and a gent. RIP Dear Sven. 🙏🤍🙏
Bless him, great manager and a great human. In a job that attracts a lot of criticism and negative feelings, Sven was utterly beloved as England manager and, as sad as the current circumstances are, it’s nice he’s able to receive much-deserved love from all around while he’s still here.
England manager is a horrible job.
Thank you for your service to my country Sven. You are a kind, honest gentleman and I send you warmest wishes of peace and love. I hope that you discover great strength and positivity when the going gets tough. ❤
God bless you Sven.❤
one of the best things channel 4 have ever produced .pure class
Very touching, best wishes Sven and thank you.
Sven is terminally ill. He is not going to get well.
I was never SGE biggest fan, but that’s all forgotten.. A great interview, some super messages with a poignant tear 😢
I'm sure he'll be relieved to hear that you've forgotten that you weren't a fan. That's really big of you to forgive a terminally ill man. You are a true hero .
How could u not be a fan of sven though
I’m sure he relieved you’ve forgotten it now mate well done
This is nice to see. A bit of humanity.
Can't judge him by results, a quality man who has the respect from his former players.
All the best Sven
Rest in Peace. He seemed like a positive and kind man until the end. I watched the documentary and it was so nice that he spent so much time with his children and family before he passed.
His interview and story has changed my opinion on him hes a proper bloke and person greetings from Ireland across the sea Sven 🇮🇪
Enjoy the match Liverpool legends are lucky to have you YNWA ❤️
As an Evertonian the legends game v Ajax was the first time I ever wanted Liverpool to win a game.😂 Sven is such a gentleman and very dignified in the face of his illness
What an amazing character, wish you the best of health moving forward Sven you brought us all amazing memories.
Great interview thanks for sharing.
Lovely to hear him mention Sinisa Mihaijlovic of course no longer with us after cancer took him, YNWA Sven ❤
It took Viali who Sven managed as well, great player
@@LeeAlanJohnson75he never managed Vialli...
But Mancini, who was his second in command for many years, was also Vialli's best friend. So they must have shared many momenys
@@LeeAlanJohnson75 Same disease - this has been a long day, began at 10 am when they started broadcasting from Torsby church, 13 Sept.
Big Respect Sven 🙏
Always tried your best for us 😉🏴
Watching Sven’s England as a kid was incredible. Munich 2001. Beating Argentina at the World Cup in 2002. Rooney at Euro 2004. And while we didn’t achieve perhaps what we could have done, Sven never once lost his temper or criticised his players. Hence why they like him so much.
2002 World Cup. 1st year at uni in Huddersfield. World at my feet and the greatest time in my life. The WC that year was epic, and optimism the country felt. Wonderful memories.
Its a privilege as a filipino that Sven's last team that he managed was my country the philippines. Thank you for everything you did for the game Sven!
this video today makes me very sad. how excited he got seeing his former boys. Goodbye Sven!
You made my childhood, supporting England was my distraction especially when I lost my Dad as a kid. Thank you for the memories!
Aw this was brilliant. The interviewer was absolutely brilliant how he handled this delicate interview. Much love Sven ❤
Bless you Sven from a Scotland fan.
We had some memorable good times with Sven and some obvious heartbreaks, it was never an easy job in those times with the rival players in the squad. It's beautiful to see our country, Ex players, Klopp, the fans, supporting and celebrating his career during his final times.
God bless you Sven, thank you for being so open about your life, and your illness. It's an honor to be able to appreciate you here and now, and to let you know that you are appreciated..
Thx Sven, I saw you manage two England games, Italy at Elland Rd and Greece at Old Trafford. Thx for the wonderful memories and all the best #YNWA.
Absolutely devastating!! May God bless you Sven. 🙏 ❤
Fantastic man! Thanks for all your efforts Sven! Keep fighting!
Enjoy your day with us at Liverpool Sven. Let's make him proud Liverpool fans and players show him why he loves our club ynwa Sven 😞
They will do us proud I'm sure. The atmosphere will be electric and Barnes, rush etc will have a lot of respect for him. Ultimately he's a Liverpool fan and that will be the biggest part of it. 😊
This is a bloody treat. Thank you Channel 4
all the best sven the players let him down as england boss he deserved more what a nice guy
God Bless You Sven 🙏
And Thank You for what you gave us as a Nation 🏴 England beating the Germans 5-1 on their own turf - Priceless❗️
👊⚽️👍
😢 a gentleman and a man of honour.. Rest Easy Sven🙏🏽🕊
Much love and total respect. Top man. Thanks for getting us so close and giving us a great trip out to Japan
It was thanks to that 5-1 against Germany that I fell in love with football. God bless you, Sven.
Well Done Sven. You gave us great memories, and we can see that you had a big impact on those players. Stay strong, thoughts and prayers to you and your family.
Life is beautiful.
Quite right. Especially with great people…and great football.
Thank you Sven ❤❤❤ 🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧
A great manager for us 🙏
Im not English, but i like to see other home nations do well, i always liked Sven, and he said he has a 'year at best'.
Those last few words he said at the very end when he was looking out while he sitting down touched. ❤️
Bless you Even what a manager and what a good man
