Three things... 1. The current Browns stadium is right next to Burke Lakefront Airport, and has FAA restrictions on height. That's one more reason for the Browns to leave that location, because to put a roof on it, they'd have to demolish and start over. 2. The new Browns stadium in Brook Park will be built into the ground, so height will not be a factor. 3. Increasing the size of Hopkins Airport may allow the City of Cleveland to get rid of Burke Airport. That should have happened decades ago. That's prime real estate for Cleveland to make into a park like Grant Park in Chicago, or anything else, really. Anything would be better than what it is now; a reliever airport that's an eyesore.
The Haslam group handcuffed the city by purchasing land adjacent to the airport, knowing an airport redevelopment was proposed. The city has no option but to work with them. The new stadium will probably be in Independence though
That is why I don't feel that the stadium will be built in Brookpark. Cleveland airport is the busiest airport in the state of Ohio. And Cleveland has the Fourth district Federal Reserve which prints money for the entire state and those Fortune 500 companies. That's too much money for Haslem to interfere with.
Didn't The FAA learn with Shea Stadium that dropping a stadium at the end of an Active Runway is a bad idea? Boeing 707s crossing above Shea every 5 minutes back in the day.
Nobody wants this out by the airport... well, except for those that live immediately in the area so they don't have to drive 15 minutes. LOL. These dillholes should be working out something with Burke Lakefront Airport. There's plenty of space for everything they want while improving the city itself. This is weak ass copout.
Cleveland Hopkins isn't bad at all. While it's interior design is similar to that of Atlanta and Charlotte it's far better than both of them, because Cleveland has far fewer crowds. Also best Airport I've ever been to is Tallinn, Estonia. Its more like a library than an airport tons of comfortable seating and natural light. (Not the standard airport benches)
The interior of CLE is presentable and the two-tier roadway for arrivals and departures works well. The downside is many of the gates are small, walkways are narrow and ceilings are low; those parts are not up to modern standards in my view. The goos news is they can upgrade in stages over years and not have to have any major shutdowns.
@@paulmelde919 I agree, but as said Charlotte and Atlanta have similar problems, and they are WAY more crowded. So the low ceilings and narrow walkways aren't as noticable as Cleveland since it has a lot fewer passengers.
@@schalitz1ATL is the busiest airport in the world, CLE is 43rd in US, so I’m not sure there’s a great comparison there. @@paulmelde919 It's incredible what wider corridors, higher ceilings, and more natural light can do. Beautify - Yes, Expand - No. 300+airports flown. I love Cleveland Hopkins. Taxpayers will pay nearly $1 billion to build a stadium owned by billionaires and named after some Fortune 500 company's trashy brand. Socialize the costs, privatize the profits.
Enough is enough. Pay for your own stadium for gosh sakes.
Lighting issues due to proximity to the airport? Have you ever flown into Las Vegas? 🤷♂️
who thought that building a stadium right next to a major airport was a good idea?
Besides the weather, why do you think Tampa has hosted 5 Super Bowls? Close proximity to an airport that can handle all the private jet traffic.
The 49ers came up with that idea and could not put a roof over their stadium due to San Jose international airport.
