      There is a funny but true story about painter Josip Generalic, a customer came to his shop, and ordered a painting of a rooster in his famous style, he replied to his customer come again here in two weeks...after two weeks the customer returned and asked for the rooster painting and Generalic told him to sit and have a cup of coffee and a biscuit and within one hour he started painting and finished the painting of the rooster, he did it in front of his customer. The customer was startled and asked for the price and Generalic told him 10000 DEM (german marks, a lot of money in late 80s). The customer was upset and said 10000 DEM for an hour of work it is too much and wise Generalic replied, "it took me 30 years of practice to be able to finish this kind of work within an hour", the ashamed customer paid 15000 DEM...:D

Yup, you're a wizard indeed... I look forward to your next vid... What I want to know is, what is the best graphics card out there currently, which is affordable and reliable for SECOND LIFE as second life just eats graphics boards for breakfast "due to the mesh lag" and gives artefacts..... I'm changing my computer and it will have an EVGA GPU, just because you recommended them and yes I know they are going out of business..... I also know what to look for when I strip a card down thermal paste and pads wise....... So yes wizard, we learn different things every time with your wonderful vids... Thanks mate..... Oops Sorry, Wizzard............. lol.... cheers... PS You're in America so can't send my repairs to you which is a shame... Keep up the great work..... I'll tell you a secret, I did not know CPUs and all that could be repaired until I saw you pop up on my screen, so it is important the guys like you promote that tech is repairable or can be salvage doners... I have a 5700 XT Red Devil that crashes VERY often, especially when watching video.
    Though I will admit, it's my fault. I had a ground issue with my PC that caused a power surge to kill the motherboard and CPU (I had the PC plugged into a power strip that was missing its Ground Prong at the end) and it appears that it partially killed my GPU as well. It functions, and you can use it to watch videos for a good bit, but it will eventually crash multiple times before it finally settles down and starts functioning fine again...

The drivers aren't stable for couple of months already (they used to crash only without restarting PC), would suggest you on trying out 22.10.3 optional or PRO edition of drivers (since it's more tested compared to normal ones) or even trying out recommended if you didn't use them

    • @saikousocial
      @saikousocial Рік тому

      @@IceSlash Yeah, I've tried plenty of different drivers and the same issue happens ever time. Tried different VBIOS as well as motherboard BIOSs, still rebooting constantly.
      I've already verified that it's indeed the GPU since I've tried a few others and it always results in the PC not crashing at all.
      I'm sure if I were to open it up or send it in for repair, something in there will be burned up or just dead to cause it to reboot at such completely random intervals.
      There was a period where I went almost an entire month without it crashing and I thought it was fixed, only for it to get back into its habit of crashing multiple times per day or a couple times a week.

      all manufacturers changed warranty terms after the 2018 mining craze, even evga which is (was) supposed to be the best for warranty support
      if the owner bought a scalped one off ebay or whatever the warranty is not transferable to second-hand owners. dunno the specific in the states but in EU there's no way around it as purchases are tied to something similar to american SSNs. also they find countless ways to deny warranty. edge of pcb slightly scraped due to factory mounting bracket? warranty denied.

    • @Morpheus-pt3wq
      @Morpheus-pt3wq Рік тому

      @@jeen0351 AFAIK, in EU, manufacturer must prove the damage was done by customer. You may open the card, repaste it, change thermal pads... after all, it´s your property.
      Warranties can get complicated. If you buy used card, you can apply your warranty to the seller, if you have his credentials. Or you can make full contract, as when selling/buying a car, where the seller will transfer all his rights including warranty to you. Manufacturer is obliged to respect that.

      @@Morpheus-pt3wq from experience that is not true, and no one on ebay does such a contract (which requires a purchase record with notary , and that'd add a couple hundreds euros). is there an EU law that states what you said? probably. will manufacturers comply? no. will you spend thousands to bring them to court? up to you, but i've yet to see one to this
      btw this happened to me a couple months ago for an evga psu which i bought as open box on ebay. after providing purchase invoice providedby ebay, evga still denied my warranty, and they openly said original owner has warranty but i dont.

      It depends on the model. Each manufacturer has some skeletons in closet. Look at Gigabyte Eagle. Plastic backplate...
      But even as it is, each GPU has a potential to withstand everything thrown at it. It all depends on luck and invididual quality of each component on it. If you´re unlucky, your GPU will either arrive DOA or die within hours of use. If you´re lucky, the GPU will work for years and refuse to die.
      Sometimes, there is a defect hidden somewhere, which passed through QC undetected and it will reveal itself later during use. But that´s why warranties exist.

    That housing (which you place on top of the core) with which you desolder-solder the GPU core. Did you make that?

      ASUS consistently make shockingly bad cards across generations (their 5700 XTs and 3070 Tis are atrocious) yet somehow command the highest prices. I guess marketing is worth more than making a good product? Meanwhile EVGA went bust.

    • @Morpheus-pt3wq
      @Morpheus-pt3wq Рік тому

      I think that depends on who is in charge of designing cooler for each card. Some designs are unexpectedly good for no obvious reason. My Asus Strix 1070 was overengineered (still no pads in the back), Asus R9 280X underengineered and Asus Dual RX6600XT is a mixed bag, but with thermal pads, where they need to be.

    Building stuff to break isn't as great a strategy when the customer has other options to go to. My brother and i got 2 computers with Club 3D cards at the same time, and both of them died just around the 2-year mark, exact same way too(JL text spam). If they still made video cards, i'd still refuse to buy them.

    This is why I always buy AMD reference cards. They have beefy power stages, there are early vmods if you want to get serious, and there will ALWAYS be coolers/blocks that support it and first. AND they cost way less than the crap from the AIBs which they bin your chip. I've won sillicon lottery twice out of 5-6 flagship cards in my life, and they both were reference cards. I've only ever had one 'lemon' ref card which wouldn't OC much and that was the X800XT, because they binned them to make the PE model that couldn't be bought in my country, or I would've bought it.
    Always buy reference. They are not binned to make the 100 different XTX TOP HHO NWO OMG versions, each with an increasing price.
