In all honesty, those who survived the Vietnam War were crazy lucky. You didn’t know where the enemy was, but they knew where you were.
My grandfather survived it and he’s still around today
I'll tell you who's REALLY lucky, I don't exactly wanna say who he is but i know him, he was a gunship operator, got shot down three times behind north Vietnamies lines. each time somehow was able to find his way to an American firebase.
It’s not awfully shocking that they survived, the US troops suffered the least amount of casualties during the war and especially when compared to their enemy who had suffered heavier losses.

All I could think of when I heard this was some Vietnam dudes in black hawks flying in slo mo then it cuts to some dudes walking in slo mo then to some guys running from the vets in the jungle
They didn't use black hawks, they came much later, at least decades later. They used Bell UH-1 Iroquois, a drop ship and attack helicopter. They were all secretly made in factories by civilians in the US and later revealed they were making them after wars end.
But overall, that kind of is how most people envision this song in their head, for Vietnam Veterans, it's much different, much different.
