I am from New Zealand - we got Lorcana in June and sets were released every two weeks up to Shimmering Skies. We are now in sync with NA/EU in terms of releases and expect DLC Melbourne to be Azurite Sea legal.
Here for the Great Stone Dragon supremacy!! Saw the tweet about it and knew this episode was going to be spicy. Congrats to LD on the legendary run and Moyen on the Revival tournament run.
We found out today that Melbourne top 2 will qualify for worlds. I'm in New Zealand and will hopefully get a ticket to the DLC. As someone who lives in NZ, First Chapter rolled out here on the 1st June and then every 2 weeks after that they released the following chapter so then we were basically caught up for a Set 5 release with America so Oceania is currently on current Azurite Sea meta ☺️
I hope the set 7 tease means, as Moyen theorized, that dual color cards can only be played in decks that use those specific colors. So it would reward honing in on a specific ink combination. I want a reward for sticking with Blue Steel. 😎
Great episode. Enjoyed listening to gameplay results and personal stories. Missing Brendan though. Is he not with you all anymore or, is it just a 'leave of absence?' Do you think that a seemingly lower representation of Steelsong was a contributing factor in the relative success of Ruby-Amethyst? In our play group we've seen kind of a rock-paper-scissors relationship: Ruby-Amethyst favored versus Ruby-Sapphire, Ruby-Sapphire favored versus Amber-Steel and Anber-Steel favored versus Ruby-Amethyst. Of course, on any given day, any deck can beat any other deck. What is your take on the meta as a whole coming out of EU Champs? 😎
I would very much agree with your take of the rock paper scissors meta. I think I would put Emerald Amethyst in the place of Ruby Amethyst in this particular Rock Paper Scissors meta, but that's just how it felt in Europe at least. RA or EA though both slot into that position though of beating Ruby Sapphire and losing to Amber Steel usually, so I think your take is very accurate 😁
And regarding Brendan, he's not gone anywhere, we've just found it hard to record with him due to time zone constraints and work restraints, so for the episodes where he can't make it, we're trying to have more guests present. I hope you guys understand ❤️
Another comment for the spilled ink session that's related to the open deck list situation that brings a big problem: Deck lists are just not available!!! And that is very frustrating! Here my opinion: Players are not "forced" to share their list and so we - as a community - just don't get to see how really the meta evolves. I understand the disadvantages of sharing a deck-list before competing at high stakes, but once you play in some big tournament, all the lists should be open and publicly available. What are your thoughts about this? Should players deliver a deck list that -when the event is concluded- the organizer should post? I don't even know if you are required to give them a list or not tbh. I could give examples of top level players going to EU or EU-LCQs and not sharing the lists just because they didn't win or made top cut, but I don't want to call people out.
Posting this again! Maybe this is a question that goes out of the box, but guys: ART IS IMPORTANT TOO ahaha What do you guys know on legality of Lorcana Altered cards in organized play like DLCs and such? My current understanding is that they should be legal as long as one cannot tell them apart when sleeved (so they are not marked) and all the important information is displayed. I have seen people with signed cards, but not with full art cards in big tournaments. Just curious. I have a picture on your discord of my how far I’ll go that a friend made for me, feel free to put that out if you want. U guys r great!
When can you guys talk about other decks that have been proving they can win like steelfasa or location decks? Its always the same colors with you guys every single time
Them talking about best of 2 and best of 3 he moyen says you can only lose 1 time. Which is true if the kept the 9 rounds if they did best of 3 there would have to be more rounds. They already have a shortage in rounds for 2k players. It should be 9 rounds day 1 and 2 more rounds day 2 and then top cut. Literally like every other card game. You could go x2 with a draw and still get into top cut depending on tie breakers. The second day of the event ends so quick which makes no sense they could easily add the extra rounds and give extra time per round for best of 3. Only benefit of best of 2 is the rounds end quicker and it benefits the bots. If your going to compete at a high level you don’t care what time the tournament ends your there to determine a winner that’s why they do best of 3 in top cut.
While I agree with the majority of this comment, I disagree with the closing point. Yes, as players we would play all day if we could.. but you have to take into account the logistics of running an event like this. I do agree that there should be more rounds on Day 2 for sure.
We, as the pod, were always in favor of more rounds and extending the Swiss. This would apply to both formats, though. So it does not seem Like a fair comparison to me if I was to compare 9 rounds of 2 Game Format with more than 9 rounds of bo3.
Comment for spilt ink - i just want to preface this comment with I'd prefer BO3 however if ravensburger insist on continuing with the 2 game format it needs to be changed. The main problem with the 2 game format in my opinion is that not everybody plays their games and instead collude to play BO1 and gentlemens agreement to scoop the second game or worse yet dice roll for the win. It should be changed so at the beginning of swiss everybody is assigned player a or player b - then instead of 9 rounds of swiss in a 2 game format we have 18 rounds of BO1 (same amount of games) but its dictated by the TO that player A or player B is going first that round (still 9 games on play and 9 on the draw) - ultimately the same intended way of running the format however it would run as intended instead of these games towards the end of the event where people are openly cheating.
moyens opinion is washed. best of 2 is ASS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! you can lose 2 matches and get top cut easily also if i go 2nd twice, i get 2 chances instead of one

Is Brendan alive?
Keep up the great work!!!
Thanks for bringing on such great guests!
Love the show as always!

I found the color numbers quite easy to memorize. Amber 1, Amethyst 2, Emerald 3, and so on
Maybe 4 random packs in the next set will have an invite to worlds. Lol
A Lorcana Golden Ticket! Love this idea 😂 The set with these hidden tickets would be as sold out as set 1 was!
Are you hungry??
Well, you better be hungry for a win!!
Only winners eat in EU! 🤣🤣🤣
