- Hello and welcome back to theHunter: Call of the wild! In today's episode we head back to the OG map, Layton Lakes. Today's objective is simple. Sit in a treestand, and shoot stuff. I've got 3 treestands set up around the map, and we can only hunt from the treestands. I'm armed with bear, moose, deer, and elk callers, and it's time to drop some trophies!

Layton lake is a lot harder than I remembered 😅 Most of map is still unlocked, any recommendations for really good hotspots?
Maybe the forest near mount kraken is good. It is very good for Black bears, coyote and turkeys. Also near the rope bridge is a drinking spot for whitetail deer and moose hang around near it too. Also in cheelah, there is good spot for black tail deer, and coyotes. Cheelah is where I find most elk, and black tail, though there are few white tails and no moose whatsoever and a decent number of black bears

Hey rooster , I’m not too sure about Layton anymore ( I only played for like 80 days or so and most of it was spent on emerald coast 😅) but I’m finding the lakes by st.Mack’s respite , bogey hole retreat and Kylie’s caravan really good hotspots , treestand hunting on emerald coast is pretty fun too 🙏🏻
There are a group of tiny lakes between the boarders of the Chopeeka and Calburn regions that I've found to be a good spot for Blacktail, Coyotes and Elk.
And btw why guns were you using?

About a year ago, I bought theHunter: Call of the Wild not knowing anything about it and what to do in it. I eventually got bored and moved on but then a little more than a month ago I stumbled upon your first Death in the water video and I immediately subbed and loved all your vids. Your amazing Cotw content taught me a whole lot about the game and now Im playing it all the time. Gotta love the dedication to the channel. ❤️

For the 3-Pin Bowsight it should be 20 metres (green) ; 40 metres (yellow) and 60 metres (red) if i am correct. I can be wrong tho

1. The Green Dot is 20m below/closer than zero range
2. Yellow, is your zeroing range
3. Red ,is 20m further than the zeroing range

How do you define what goes on the wall of shame? Is it the size of horns/antlers, or a level 1 male?
Great question. And I have no clue lol. Ideally they should be level one, and a bronze. But level 2 bronzes make it too (but will be replaced if I get a level one)

I’ve been looking on Layton for coyotes at cheelah lake. I cant seem to find any even at the feeding/drinking zones!

Mallard duck go diamond at 19.62 so that level 3 mallard was probably a diamond he would've had to be very low on the estimate to troll

If you need to practice aiming with your weapons, (bow or otherwise) Hirschfelden and Fernando have shooting ranges near the first outposts you unlock. One designed for firearms, the other for archery.
There you can test out weapon ranges with unlimited ammo. Handy for if you are curious as to the ranges of arrow, birdshot, or if you are a hunter that doesn't use the zeroing perk like me.
I've found that though zeroing works well for more modern firearms, it actually hurts the range of the vintage weapons I like to use a lot, namely the Whitlock, the Coachmate and the Hudzik.
Yeah I've never used zeroing. I love the challenge of not using it. I definitely need to hit up that bow range though

I bought the game on PS5 the other day and I messed up two diamond whitetail’s within the first couple hours of playing 😭 I just quit the game, haven’t went back to it since 😂
I got a diamond whitetail on Revontuli Coast yesterday 🥳 then I switched maps to Emerald Coast and got trolled by a 9 Legendary Kangaroo and spooked a guaranteed diamond Croc that I can no longer find. I also think I spooked a melanistic Croc but it could have just been the shadows. This game is amazing but it can be unbelievably frustrating sometimes 😭

Thank you soo much for showing me this game. It has been a blast i was able to shoot me first diamond animals yesterday. They were a mule deer and blue wilderbeast. You should do a video with hunting mule deer in mexico I know great spots.

Yea I picked the game up on game pass and it seems pretty open and spacious but so far I've hunted 3 blacktail a coyote and a turkey so I'm not doing too bad

With your bow and having that pin sight the sights go 20m 40m 60m 20 is green 40 orange and red is the furtherest one so arch your shots

I don't really do vids like that but I can give you some advice. Check out some of the lake3 in the mid/top right of Silver Ridge peaks, they are loaded with mule deer

the treestands ARE a dlc though. so you can't get the dlc, without getting the dlc, ya know?

For beginners I would recommend not doing realism to start learning. Also I would recommend a more powerful gun than the 243. Unlock the 270 and more powerful gun until you learn how to hunt. Also for the bow I recommend the 5 pin sight rooster. For the mallard they will return to that zone the next day. Also for new players PICK UP YOUR KILLS.
Yeah this definitely isn't a good way for new players to play. I almost lost my albino lion to my game crashing. Thanks for the heads up about the sight!
@@Rooster_Gaming with the 5 pin. Zero for 60m or 65yds which ever you play with. Let’s go with 60m for that’s what most players play with. Let’s start with the top pin; 20m, next 40m, next 60m, next 80m and finally 100m

How do I build the tree stands?
get the dlc, then grab them from your storage locker. hold it in your hands, then walk around and look for trees that'll let you place it
I love ur Channel, but you should use the range finder for the bow. I love that sight.
I GOT MY FIRST DIAMOND IT WAS A PRONG HORN IN SILVER RIDGE I HAVE BEEN TRACKING TRYING TO FIND ITS ZONES AND STUFF AND I FINALLY GOT IT IT TOOK ME 2 MONTHS TO TRACK IT
