This is such a great video, Jaaaaames! You take such a scientific approach that I love so much in your videos. I myself am a huge fan of live mode. I feel like they did this beautifully. It's extremely responsive, easy to setup, assign and switch. Pairing that with the standalone mode. It's so good for practicing! I also agree this is definitely their best toneforge there is. Which is exciting cause it can only get better, right? I think they are starting to listen to their audience more and taking note of the complains in other releases and actually doing something about it. Wishing nothing but the best to your channel, keep up the amazing content 💙
Thanks so much man! It's far from scientific, but I do try to showcase it as much as I can. The live mode does seem wonderful for sure! I didn't cover this in the video, but how did like playing with TFJL? Does it response similarly to a real amp? And yeah I'm glad they listened to their users. Understanding users' needs and pain points is absolutely key to delivering a great user experience.
Glad you enjoyed the review! UA-cam algorithm doesn't particularly favor small channels unfortunately haha. Out of curiosity, how did you come across my channel by accident?
@@JamesZhan yeah man great video, I pop in on them if I have some time for the in depth stuff haha. You're absolutely right, the market competition is great for everyone. Personally I still like the Jason Richardson one the most from JST contrary to most of the hate it gets
@@david_djent TFJR was an interesting one for sure. The default is super muddy and I don't see how you can use it without any heavy EQing. That being said, it does have a pretty unique sound to it.
@@JamesZhan I just cut the low mids and threw a multiband on the low end and sweetest the top end and called it a day. I just love how djenty you can get that thing haha
@@david_djent Yeah the default tone can sound pretty awesome after you cut the mud, but I find some of the other included IRs to be really not great haha.
So far on the full mix part and it’s sounding great. Personally, I think the biggest downfall with JST Toneforge sims has been on the IR sections. Getting Jens in was a great move
Toneforge Jeff Loomis compared to all other Toneforge amp sims! Which one sounds the best? Which one is the best for your needs? I will answer these questions in this video! ua-cam.com/play/PLXSSR60lGqxkXAfCchsUMOxL2QjYkyC0u.html

Great video, James! Glad to hear you enjoyed the IRs.
Thanks for checking out the video! And yes I did! It's awesome to see Bogren Digital IRs in TFJL.
Thanks for the breakdown and detailed review James!
Thank you for checking out the video. Keep up the good work!

Keep it up!

Thank you! :)
Good balanced review, just discovered your channel by accident, why you've never come up in recommendations is a mystery, great stuff!

@@JamesZhan looking for a review of the new drum forge plugin. The reaper tips were helpful too! All the best from the UK.
@@themetalicarus0284 Awesome to hear! Glad you liked my videos! Greetings from Canada =D
Very helpful, thanks.
Sounds fantastic man!!! Thanks for sharing! :-)
You are welcome!
This plugin sounds amazing. Good review!
Thank you! And yes it is the best Toneforge amp sim imo!
JST stepped it up with this one
Good to see you here David! And yeah totally agreed. This is why I always say, consumers benefit from market competitions haha.

GREAT!
Yeah why isn't there trial? subscribed already, expect your TFJL comparison video with NDSP, STL
Really hope JST add a trial option for all their plugins now that they use iLok as their DRM! And thank you! The videos are coming :)
Would love to see the comparison to Will Putneys Tonality. Glad I came across your channel man!
That's exactly the STL amp sim I will be comparing Toneforge Jeff Loomis to, so stay tuned!
i think the only thing i wished it had was a high cut and low cut. so you can do everything in one plugin.
That's the good point. It's weird that the EQ doesn't have the usual high cut and low cut.
@@JamesZhan its a solid plugin for sure.

Yeah, agreed, which was why I said later in the video that I wish instead of the JST classic IRs, it came with a brand new batch.

How do I turn the sound on in the app itself? No sequencer
I'm not sure what you meant? You don't need to turn anything on. You play audio through it as a plugin and it will output audio.
@@JamesZhan When I run a plug-in reaper sound there, when I run a plugin just without reaper sound there is no, that's the problem
@@5th13am As a standalone? I'm not sure what the problem might be. You should contact support if you can't figure it out.
@@JamesZhan yes standalone, It's a problem that the sound doesn't come out.
@@5th13am Gotcha, definitely contact support for that!
