He’s a Baylor grad, classically trained. With those pipes, he could have done anything, from pop to opera, and received all the riches of this world. He chose to use his gift to praise the Lord, and I’m thankful for that. Love David, so many of his songs have helped me in rough times.

I had family members on the cruise and at the performance when he passed away. I’m sure it was devastating for his family.
But we know as Christians, there is the peace & comfort of knowing they’ll see him again.
Imagine going from praising Jesus with fellow Christians on earth, to praising Him with the heavenly hosts.

David Phelps has been a shining light in the gospel community for years. He sang for many years with the Gaither Men's Group and is a frequent participant in their homecoming performances. Everything he does is amazing and people just stand in awe. Plus, you can "feel" his worship in everything he does. He truly loves Jesus and shines that light all the time. Highly recommend digging into his catalog both solo and with the Gaither's. God bless, Dennis!
This is the difference between someone who believes what he is singing, and any others. His voice is spectacular but I truly think that if he didn't believe it, this wouldn't have had the same impact. Glory to God!!

@@sundelong2727 “……..so insignificant”????? Anthony Burger was one of a kind. He died doing what he did best…..literally. He died playing the piano at an informal concert on a cruise ship…….in the middle of a song. No one would or should say he was “insignificant”. He was anything but……

Everything indicates and gives credit to that fact that Fall On Your Knees is an original that Mr Phelps did write. It is based on Oh Holy Night. Based on does not equate the same song.

So many great songs sung by him are amazing. He still has an amazing voice at 50+, but I think his older stuff is by far the best.
We Shall Behold Him and He's Alive are awesome, Let Freedom Ring, End of the Beginning, No More Night, Water, Heaven's Shore, Live Like a King, and there are more more and more.......He even does an amazing Star Spangled Banner crossed with Led Zepelin.

One of the most under-celebrated talents David has is his ability to arrange songs into the most intricate harmonies and totally remake a song. Listen to his acapella arrangement of Amazing Grace. the tightest harmony and is amazing!
I've seen him 11 times live, I've met him several times as well as his family...and he is the best male vocalist in the world today and has been for the past twenty five years. Not even close....the best.

I have been so blessed to see David live 11 times now and have been following him for more than 20 years. He is easily the best male vocalist in the world and has been for many years...and it is not even close. His range, tone, clarity, power and tenderness in his singing is like I have never heard from anyone ever before. The best....and maybe more importantly, he is the most gracious and humble guy you could ever meet. Totally genuine...I know....I have meet him many times now, his wife and his mom and dad. Genuinely wonderful people.

I am not religious... but I have been listening to music for 70 + years.... I have witnessed some stupendous performances but this.... THIS IS THE GREATEST SINGING PERFORMANCE I HAVE EVER SEEN... I now send this out every Christmas Eve to friends in the Philippines... and London.. and points throughout the country.
I always opine that David Lee Phelps hits a note at the end of this song that will make Lucciano Pavarotti sit up and cheer...!
It is obvious that this was a once in a lifetime performance because David was clearly enraptured and imbued by the absolute power of his Christian belief.

David is beyond compare as a Tenor and human being. I've traveled about 2,500 miles in the last 30 days to see him in concert with another 700 going down this weekend and he never disappoints. Amazingly, his live performances are as good as and often even better than the studio work. His Spirit within rises up to meet the crowd. I’ve seen so many people react to this song, and the comment section in every videos is always flooded with comments saying “I have heard every person ever sing this song every Christmas for my entire life… But I have _never truly heard the message of it before this._ I feel the *weight* and *significance* of every single word of this message, because it’s so clear he’s telling a STORY he BELIEVES in this song, not just going for performance.”

I don’t know how people hold it together. I heard this for the first time about a year ago. I was driving on the freeway and had to pull off to the side of the road, and sobbed uncontrollably for about 20 minutes. I was a wreck for the rest of the day, just crying periodically.

My husband & I went to his live Christmas concert for our 50th Anniversary because he is my favorite vocalist ! If you think this is unbelievable, when we were at the concert and he sang this, the entire audience and choir behind him stood up and raised their hands in worship 🙌🏻 I cried not just because of what he sang and how he sang but because he sang totally worshiping with us not for us!!!!

T'was Dec , 2010 I was watching Jed Madela's version of Oh Holy Night when someone in the comment section said, watch DAVID PHELPS sing this song and be blown away. I clicked the link and heard him sing for the first time, and I was not just blown away, David Phelps got me from the heart. I am a Christian and I felt the anointing he has when singing. I didn't know him yet that time but I knew in my spirit that we share the same faith in the Lord Jesus Christ. Since then I watch every video of him on YT and confirmed that indeed he is a Christian like me. He sings not just to entertain but to worship the King of kings and minister to the people through singing. He is my all time favorite singer.
David is a graduate of Baylor University in Texas and majored in music. ( as anyone can tell)In my opinion I have never ever heard this song sang any better than David's rendition on this video. When David was with the Gaither Vocal Band, the group sang "Let Freedom Ring. The song is awesome but when David finished the song he about brought the house down. The man has the voice of an angel.
There is no doubt David is one of THE voices EVER but I'm always impressed by the very end of this video when Bill Gaither pulls him back out of the crowd and he's so humble and celebrates those around him even though he was the soloist and did such an incredible job.

We were at the same church for a while (in Tennessee) and he was on staff at a church in Hurst, Texas with the Pastor that I have known for most of my life. What a God given talent!!
