This is the first of two fantasy books about M.J. Rodriguez. M.J. looks like your average teenage girl, but she is actually half-encanto and heir to the throne of Biringan. When her father dies under possibly questionable circumstances, M.J. is taken to the fairy kingdom of Biringan, where she must prepare to take the throne. But some forces object to having a half-human on the throne, and M.J. and her allies must overcome them.
