    Hernandez was such a great big game pitcher. Seemed like he pitched better in October than during the regular season. I also would’ve paid good money to be in that locker room that night they had the all century team there. What a special night that was to have all those legends in the same place.

    That bunt by Knoblauch in game 1 was such a big moment in the series and to hear him say he just tried to bunt it back toward the mound and you can see Maddux thought it was going to the 3rd base side

    Glad the audio is still fine for now, some older videos are getting muted for some reason and it generally affects the people using PC. I may check through the phone later.

    Only the Mets would give up a walk with the bases loaded to end their season

      I know right? I was rooting for them too.
      With that, the Yankees would go on to avenge them and even do what the Mets should have done but couldn't, beat up John Rocker.

    can you imagine a team now, being totally satisfied with 11 hits, all singles, in winning two games? sometimes the yankees dont get 11 hits in a series now.

      Eric Hall if all the recent players Aaron Judge, Gary Sanchez, Greg Bird, Ronald Torreyes, and Miguel Andujar can stay healthy, stay consistent they might bring back the dynasty.

    Why is Paul O'Neil not In the baseball hall of fame yet

    • @billny33
      @billny33  2 роки тому

      He was a great Yankee but I don't think his career numbers were good enough to crack the hall, much like Bernie, Tino, Pettitte, Posada, Brosius, Wells, Cone, Key, El Duque, etc. That team was a hall of very good. Only Jeter and Mo and if you count Mussina, got in out of all those guys.

      @@billny33 And Oneill was a corner outfielder. For someone to make the HOF as a corner outfielder, they better have majestic offensive numbers, as either a power-hitter or a hitting machine with a batting-average like Tony Gwynn Sr.
      Kinda difficult to let a corner outfielder into the hall of fame with less than 400 home runs, and Oneill had less than 300 career home runs, and never once had a 30+ home run season.
      As for batting average corner outfielder, the strike-shortened 1994 season was the only season that Oneill had a batting average of over .330 (he hit .360). And only 6 times did Oneill finish a season with a batting average of .290 or higher
      And Oneill was not known as a gold-glove-caliber corner outfielder either
      I LOVE Oneill, but those are not Hall of Fame numbers

    not sure if todays players belong to the entire league or to there team...very little loyalty left with players moving around so much and contracts not performance orientated ...that said Bobby Cox was one of the finest managers(behind joe torre) ever to live and a GREAT man

      At Peter Okeefe. The 1999 Yanks won mainly because of the contribution from the following ACQUIRED players. Not home grown:
      Chuck Knoblauch
      Roger Clemmons
      Tino Martinez
      David Cone
      Chad Curtis
      Grimsley
      Nelson
      It was the same as it is now

    • @ADEAL918
      @ADEAL918 5 років тому +1

      peter okeefe he was indeed...BUT..absolutely idiotic move leaving Glavine out there for the 8th inning in Game 3. Yes, his pitch count was low, but he was coming off an illness that scratched him from Game 1, he gave them exactly what they needed, 7 strong innings with a 2-run lead, they had a lights out closer who could easily go 2 innings if necessary, they were about to get back into that series. If there was any question, if he was getting tired at all, he should have been pulled. You can even see from the shot they show of Glavine and Cox talking it over in the dugout before that 8th inning...his body language says "I'm not really sure." No shame whatsoever in handing it over to the bullpen with a lead after 7. That's what they're paid for. They lost all momentum shift with that game-tying home run and they never had a chance after that.

      @@npoemail5268 Some clarification: Tino, Clemens, Knoblauch, Nelson, and Curtis were traded for, as was Girardi and Paul O'Neill. And interestingly, you can counter with homegrown Yankees for every acquisition you named: Bernie, Jeter, Hernandez, Rivera, Posada, and Pettite.
