I have always been a front-line player using short range stuff to splat people. But the moment I started using this weapon I fell in love. I just love it so much. I wish they give this a better sub weapon in future kits.
They'll probably come up with some weird midline kit, like they did with other long range weapons. Something like burst and TTcoolern lol or wall and ink vac
I feel like Torpedo or Auto Bomb would be good for flushing out enemies hiding behind cover however for a more supportive role I think Squid Beacons would be pretty good as I usually end up as my team's super jump point but the Tri-Stringer is in my opinion more mobile than other long range weapons so having beacons to retreat back to after pushing forwards would be handy
@@kaikollas I don't think vac would work. Wall or burst would be insane, and I'd honestly like zipcaster or bubble. Obviously not bubble if it already has wall, but if it gets burst to paint its feet and bubble to defend, it might be top tier
I think one of the biggest strengths that Tri has over Chargers is the lack of a laser. Which makes it more difficult to see where you are and where you're aiming
But it’s competing chargers, the bamboozler and squiffer, have a fast charge rate to the point where it’s hard to react to the laser before it shoots, so I wouldn’t say having no laser is a big deal
@@Inmortuae2233 I was more talking about long-range chargers. Tri stringer doesn't have the same role as Squiffer and Bamboozler, so comparing it to them doesn't really make sense.
@@Inmortuae2233 for that you got Reef-luz. It has as much range as a squiffer with the ability to paint the field and pressure opponents with its speed and, if the player has good aim, incredible kill power
@@cl4655 It does though? Its similar to chargers, and plays agressively. if you just sit in the back using the tri-stringer, you are not using it right.
@@Inmortuae2233 I main Squiffer and play some a Tri. They are very different. Squiffer is solely to get kills, being a threat and "scaring" the other team away, meanwhile Tri supports its team by providing chip, area denial and toxic mist from behind cover or at a distance
Yes, object shredder is great for this weapon. I find I get a lot of value out of focusing on the support anchor style of tristringer. I prioritize object shredder and ink recovery/efficiency on my build. The idea is just to focus on zone control over hunting kills. It works well enough for the lower end of S+.
Dude, breaking bubble in under 2 seconds and destroying wavebreaker in like one shot? As well as being able to break crab from a safe distance? Since these specials are seen in a lot of matches, it'll definitely help a lot. Guess I gotta make a new build now to tri (lol) this out
As someone who has put Object Shredder on their Tri-Stringer build, I can confirm that the bow works really well with it. And it REALLY comes in handy when playing Rainmaker, too Irrelevant, but right now I’m experimenting with different abilities, right now with Comeback. You get 10 AP of Main and Sub Saver, Ink Recovery, Run and Swim Speed, and Special Charge for 20 seconds after respawning. I’m also thinking of putting Sub Power Up since you’ll be able to throw Toxic Mist further
I tried a build with sub power for a bit, and really liked the ability to be more strategic with mist. Working better for pinning with killer wail at a distance too, keeping opponents back from the objective. Playing with some subs of intensify action, because I like maneuverability, but may swap these (or have an alternative build) with sub power up instead. Right now doing LDE, respawn punisher, and object shredder as mains, and loving it. Couple subs of qsj, run speed, ink res, bomb def, and the intensify action for the rest ATM.
Comeback is good on frontline slayer weapons because risky plays. If you get value out of Quick Respawn or Special Saver with a weapon, that's where Comeback is also a good option. On a Tri-Stringer, which is a backline that doesn't even need line-of-sight to pressure the enemy, you shouldn't be dying often enough to get value out of Comeback. You're better off running Last-Ditch Effort or Tenacity.
Tri stringer and something like stamper or maybe wiper might be a decent pick agaist crab meta since those weapons have absolutely insane Object damage. Having something like Ttek to even further destroy objects might also be a nice idea and round out the last slot with splash so you get to have your own crab while denying them theirs.
I actually have wondered if object shredder on tri stringer is good for a long time. I wanted to play around with it, but I didn't want to sacrifice run speed on my boots. I never thought of sacrificing thermal ink instead. Will try this later and see if I like it.
You can't switch out thermal ink for object shredder, Nbound was just comparing how important thermal ink was to how important object shredder could be
@@sirquags do you mean can't or shouldn't. Because if you mean can't I understand that object shredder is on shoes while thermal ink is on shirt, so technically I suppose you can't. I was more referring to the fact that my LDE is locked to my hat (and there is no way I am getting rid of that) and I want at least one main of run speed up (previously on my shoes), so if I want object shredder the run speed would have to move to the shirt and kick out the thermal ink. To me run speed and LDE are way more important than both thermal ink and object shredder, so if I need to sacrifice something it would have to be the thermal ink. If you meant I shouldn't switch it out I would like to know why so I don't waste my time grinding more chunks to see if this works.
@@buzzy4227 Ah I see, sorry, I should've specified. I meant that you can't switch them out cuz thermal ink is on shirts while object shredder is on pants. I would also say, however, that thermal ink is more important than run speed as it has more of an impact on your actual gameplay in a match than walk speed. I've tried walk speed myself, but I find myself preferring things like ink saver main instead since it lets you spam bombs for longer, allowing you to hold crucial points such as the tower in tower control for longer (although this is just my preference). Thermal ink, on the other hand, allows you to keep track of where people are if you hit them at a range, which I find to be more useful in a variety of scenarios. Being able to know exactly where someone is behind cover allows you to pressure over walls much more effectively, and if you do get a hit with a tristringer at range then there's also a good chance you got more than one hit, either from bomb explosions or from a second hit. That leaves them at low hp, making one or two shots over a wall a pretty dangerous threat. In any case, I do think thermal ink is better in the majority of cases since it lets the tristringer so what it does best more efficiently (which is a lot of things, but mostly pressuring the enemy team from basically anywhere) while run speed allows you a bit more mobility and doesn't contribute as much to the overall playstyle. Again, just my opinion, but I do think thermal ink contributes more to the general playstyle than run speed.
@@buzzy4227 lol yeah fair. There is a bit of a difference, and I can't deny how fun it is to zoom. Sometimes when I play a light weapon like splatana stamper, I just don't run ninja squid at all and just run pure swim speed for fun

Or is this ability a waste? If it is, I will definitely switch to object shredder as I am always targeting sprinkles, shields and wavemakers.
As far as I know Intensify action does nothing for the tri stringer other than make your squid surge and rolls faster to execute... The jump steadiness is for weapons who have a spread on their shots and have RNG as to where the shots will go, like blasters loose accuracy when they jump so the shot could end up shooting not where you aim, intensify action reduces the spread in which they could shot off your mark. Tri Stringer has no RNG on its shots so Id run something other than intensify personally.
