  • This interview intentionally leaves out graphic details of the crash out of respect for the families. This interview focuses on how the aircraft was discovered on that tragic morning 60 years ago.
    Sadly, youtube will not allow me to mention Cowboy Copas, Hawkshaw Hawkins and Randy Hughes.
    Those families should be equally represented in this tragedy

    The wreckage was discovered around dawn by William Jefferey Hollingsworth and son, Jeners. (The following quote, by Jeners Hollingsworth about discovering the crash site, is a bit graphic.)
    "We were out on Old Stage Road trying to locate the plane just as it turned daylight. We looked up through the mist and fog, and spotted a section of a yellow airplane wing in the top of a tree. We went down the steep hill and saw pieces of the plane scattered around a 300 foot area. There were parts of bodies on tree limbs and on the ground. Daddy started backing up from the area and told me to go call the Sheriff's office."

      There were 6 in that party, 3 including the Hollingsworth's went left. 3 went right.
      They had a shotgun to use as a signal .
      They were divided by a short distance.
      The Hollingsworth were in deed the group that found the wreckage. They fired the gun and the other 3 came from the other side.
      Sadly none survive. Only 2 of the 6 do

      @@burtstaggs8631 I know the story well, and the Hollingsworth's, my uncle and grandfather were alone and never fired any kind of signal shot. My uncle left my grandfather there at the site and went and got help. People can tell anything they want, I guess. The story was documented many years ago. Not arguing, just stating what happened.

      @@wildcatblue1555 I would love it if you made a video and told your family side of the story. That would be so interesting.

    Great interview, but I had to turn up the volume up to hear the gentleman speak, then turn it down when the interviewer asked questions.

    I'm noticing something that's interesting about the airplane engine ok, the investigation concluded it was weather and pilot couldn't see, but it seems they had engine trouble to me!

    • @frackstonwilson685
      @frackstonwilson685 Рік тому

      Evidentally not much engine trouble since the plane hit at tremendous speed. Accounts of that speed are around 170 miles per hour.

    At a 175 mph nose dive I wouldn’t expect to find anything put together machine or people.

      Her foot was found in the crotch of a tree and her wrist watch was embedded in her heart. It was really bad.

      @@ablfc4424 I very well could be repeating one of the many pieces of misinformation that is found on the internet these days but I did read it somewhere. I don't remember where I read it, and a quick search now doesn't reveal the source. I can only find that her watch is now in the Patsy Cline Museum
