I've been pouring for 5 yrs.; I've learned a couple ways to save the paint. I do scrape some to the center of the canvas and then just tilt it around to make a background and start another pour on top. I also scrape and save the paint into a container to use as flow extender. I do strain it. I also pour over dried canvases I didn't wind up liking. Good luck with yours.
Thanks Jane I appreciate it, those are good ideas! I can’t bring myself to do it, but if I do I have a few ideas. Thanks so much for watching as well!!
Your amazing. I have scraped yucky paintings before…. Would never have thought to do this….i can’t tell you how much I enjoy your voiceovers.. and how much I continue to learn watching you……THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR SHARING
I have been pouring for only a few months and I have scraped paint several times when the pour has turned out horrible. I always save my scrapings to use as an extender or sometimes if the color turns out good enough to use in a new painting. I have also done pours over old dried paintings that I felt were not good enough. I have tried to salvage a bad pour but usually end up with a mess. You did an outstanding job of salvaging your painting.
@@gulfgal98 Thank you! I’ve really tried my best to make something out of everything I’ve poured. I’m also a lot more careful with what I make these days. Great idea keeping the paint for another use too if you decide to scrape it. Keep up the good work!
I’m using smaller canvas slowly graduating to larger canvases. I try stuff I see others due. If I try and it looks like crap I get frustrated scrap it. Going to try and bigger and a swipe I saw you do wish me luck. You amaze me how you save pours!
Thanks Jan! It always funny to look back at the pours I did when I was starting out. Some I’ve kept because they turned out, and the stuff I’ve thrown away lives forever early in the YT page. I had some frustrating days back then too lol Thank you for trying things I’ve done, that’s a very nice compliment!!
Good save on this!! It has a cool look with the color blocks. I scrape all the time, lol! I’ve been using small canvases/boards lately so it’s not a ton of paint and I can reuse it as a base. When I was doing larger canvases I wouldn’t scrap as much, though. When I don’t like the composition or it was a bad blowout, pleat, etc. that’s when I scrape.
Thanks August! See, that's a good way to go about it! If I were to make some more small ones, I may consider it, but these ones are going to be whatever they turn out to be lol I'm also super thankful it worked out in the end!
You saved it🎉 I have taken them out side and hosed the old paint off if still wet. If dry and I didn’t use silicone I did the same as you just did . I’m too lazy to sand 😂 I’ve only been watching and trying for two years . weeks that everything is wrong Then that magic moment, good luck to you.
@@SharSpencer Thanks Sharon! Yes, the ups and downs of each week are fun lol I’m glad this one turned out, because it found a new forever home about a month later, so for that I’m grateful I didn’t light it on fire. 😂
I think you saved it pretty well Tony. Looks good to me. I've scraped a few times and guess most of us have at some time. My last time was a couple of months ago trying a split cup for the first time. I hated the result and there was no sense in keeping it so it went straight under the tap. Once the canvas was dry I tried again and got a much better result so think it was justified getting rid of the first dismal attempt.
Thanks Paul, I appreciate it! I just can't bring myself to do it.. lol I understand not liking it (I've had so many) but I just can't scrape a piece. I'm quite glad this one worked out in the end!
Thanks so much for watching! I don't use silicone often, no. I've found that this cell activator works much better, but there is always a certain place for silicone oil on a intentional look!
They are mixed with 50% pouring medium and 50% North American floetrol. I think the colors are copper, gold, pewter, and some silver. Thanks for watching.
Please teach me or us that want to be a pouring artist also to how to make the white color that you spread on top of those mix colors to habmve beautiful effects of cells. 😢❤❤❤.please need help.
That’s very nice of you thanks! Have you started to acrylic pour yet or are just getting started? My cell activator is 1/3 Amsterdam titanium white with 2/3 Australian floetrol which works great! Just go slow and let the paint do the work. 🙂

Could u have used a blow dryer to salvage the paint?
That's a great idea, but I haven't worked enough with a blowdryer to have tried. It may have some out even more muddy afterward. lol

@@JamieMillen I still haven’t done it. I just stare at the ones I don’t like in disgust. 😅
Can you pour paint on top of one coat of varnish? This is so cool! love it
@@JamieMillen I haven’t tried but I imagine you could. It would ruin your initial pour, but you could start from scratch. 😊
