You could always use the more pit stops with softer tyres strategy which involves more need for overtakes and qualiying pace every lap with the risk of making mistakes higher every lap.
This will help you with league racing. You will be more competitive since you will improve your pace.
damn... I was very confused at why you wouldn't switch to wet, but I didn't pay attention to number of laps remaining. Good strat calls!

Ben that incident happend in Q1 actually happends to me a lot... that the track has been dried up and the AI is not going on dry tyres but wet its actually really disturbing because you get really easy pole positions

F1 2016 . The difference between the AI's lap time in Quali & the race is huge..
Pretty much every race I do, I can be 1.0 - 1.4 secs slower than pole time.
But in the race I'm 0.2 - 0.4 secs quicker in the race. Hopefully it's fixed for 2017
