- It was a long day as most of the day we was seating on the train but that was ok as we were on a proper train with comfortable seats.
The train took longer as we went the long way round to Bristol from Dorridge via Oxford Didcot Swindon and Bath.
We only had two hours and eight minutes to visit the spoons pub in St Ives and get back to Penzance for the train back to Dorridge which was easily done with time to say hello to a friend.
We were very lucky as we had fantastic weather to see so many great views while on the train, and the train was on time arriving at both destinations.

Great day out. Nice footage to remember the day. First first and last tour of the year….which wasn’t the intention but typical of the last few years when the majority of the tours booked on don’t go ahead.

Hi Mike ,I did wonder if you’d be on it when I saw it was coming from your neck of the woods. I filmed it at Sprey point ,Teignmouth , so as to get the lighting correct.I’m not normally a fan of WCR livery, but have to admit they looked & sounded great, I was especially impressed with the stock . I only run video shorts now, but my video will be on soon. Life with trains is very boring now , apart from my view of the sleeper and occasional passing clay or engineering train . I still watch your videos with great interest and adventures around the country.

Hi Andy firstly I get the reason you have little interest in what goes on with the railways down your way which is why I don't think I will come down this year to do a days filming.

Yes it was a great day with great weather, but I must admit Ben I was getting feed up of sitting down, although the seats on them MK 2s were a lot better than todays new travelling crap trains.

The 37s still going strong, spectacular coastal views in glorious weather and even a HST ride. Perfect !!!
Yes it was a good day, and as I noticed three sets of Castle class HSTs and more might be coming back over the summer season I might have to have a day down that way.

I did not realise that HST's were still operating in Cornwall. What a rare pleasure to travel in quiet coaches with no motor of any type attached.
Yes that was a bit of luck to get a castle HST, it was good to see three sets working between Plymouth and Penzance.

Oh yes Jacob I was lucky it was a Castle set on that diagram I was catching, and I'm told you might to getting more over the summer which is great news which could get me down there for the day again.
