Just got mine today from Amazon. It will be my daily watch in place of my well-worn and scratched up E101 model (still going strong after 14 years).
This watch is an awesome choice, great for every day…enjoy and thanks for tuning in!
Yup. Purchased mine back in 2017 and probably the last watch I'll ever want or need. Tough, reliable and looks good on the wrist while wearing a suit or simply jeans and a t-shirt. Yeah, it's a quartz which may offend some horological purists, but I've always been paranoid about accuracy and this watch is dead-on accurate (gains ~ 1/10th of a second per day, so maybe around three full seconds a month). The fact that it's solar powered is great; eliminates the necessity for those bi-annual trips to the jeweler for a battery change. Swapped the resin strap out for a NATO when it finally cracked after a couple years of wear and frankly it makes the watch look even better. And you just can't beat the price. Sure, it ain't a Rolex, but it does the stuff you expect a tool watch to do.
Great feedback and insight on this great watch, thanks for watching!
Definitely does not go with a suit.
I’ve owned mine for a few months and love it! I too was shocked at its presentation lol
I LOVE the look of this thing just pulled the trigger on one from Amazon on black Friday for 150 its my first diver and it came in the tank and I LOVE IT
Dude...thanks...I could not figure out how to open the scuba tank...🤪 I was twisting and turning....never thought to slide right up...
Mine didn't come in a tank but it runs great. The luminescence is bright and readable all night long. I find the bezel very useful for timing things. I prefer a 120 click bezel but find the 60 click one on this watch quite adequate for my needs.
Excellent review! I will order this tonight. Thank you!
These are great watches, seriously underrated. I have a black one, 6 years old and faultless. Ditch that strap and pop a Barton Elite Silicone on it. Great video.
Absolutely agree, love those Barton bands to, great stuff….thanks so much for tuning in!
Great review man. Thanks for posting it.
The rubber strap is what gives these watches their cool look. I don't understand why people replace them.
People replace them because they're very stiff rubber and uncomfortable in general.
@@Mr.M1STER No they're not.
@@TonyMontanaDS Well that is your opinion and that is fine but you said you don't understand why people change them so I am just telling you why.
+1
I am looking at getting the watch on a bracelet.
Really great watch, one of my all time favorites. First time I’ve seen one run on low power mode. I know the second hand hangs on for two seconds when it needs a charge but I’ve never actually seen it, pretty cool. Thanks for sharing man!
There is a stainless bracelet you can get for it that costs more than the actual watch, but I can tell you it is 100% WORTH IT. It has the on the fly adjustment, kinda like a glide lock but better.
Great video! Just ordered one!
I had the same experience. Bought my version of the Promaster on a whim perusing at Kohls because of a ridiculously good deal (they were clerencing that model) almost just for the super cool tank case it comes in. The watch was practically an after thought. But, the more I looked at it, wore it and noticed what an excellent, thought out job Citizen did, precision, legibility etc. the more I fell in love with it. Now easily one of my faves in my too large collection of watches.
MAN I LOVE THAT TANK
That’s a true watch bargain! Great video, fella, good to see it on a blue NATO. Built like a tank, eco drive and by all accounts, mega accurate to approx 5 seconds per month. A true one watch collection, might be even more versatile in black.
That's a man's watch right there
Got mine today, I'm very impressed with the build and strap quality
Paul Arnison Great watch, you’re gonna love it!
Excellent review!!!
Fantastic review
Thanks for watching!
Good choice on watches and straps!
I got one a couple of weeks ago. It came with a yellow promaster tank. The strap looks the same but hasn’t got the nd limits chart on. It is absolutely gorgeous and has become my most worn watch since getting it. I have ordered an orange strap to go with the orange hand.
Very cool, this watch is still one of my favorite edc watches and definitely my favorite Citizen watch ever….Thanks for watching!
I wear my 151 on a BluShark Alpha Premium NATO. Navy blue with orange trim along the edges. Matches the watch perfectly.
It's now on an oyster bracelet. Very nice.
I have one of these and all in all it's ok. But. I changed the strap and was amazed to find that they had missed one of the spring bars out completely. They have a steel tube/collar through which the spring bars pass and then insert as normal. The first side I changed went as expected. But the second side I couldn't find any spring bar to depress. Eventually I gave it a sharp tug and the strap parted way. There inside was the collar but without any spring bar at all. Only friction was holding the strap in place. For a certified diver this was especially perplexing as one of the criteria for getting the certification is that the spring bars must hold from a 45kg pressure. Clearly this was never tested. I wonder how many are like this and going undetected right up to the point when it catches on something and the watch falls to the ground. So please everyone give them a check for your own peace of mind.
I am wearing this watch as I WATCH this video..3/15/21@10:36 a.m.
Me 2 and it's 3:58 12/7
Whilst reading reviews of eco drive watches ( I have BN0085-01E) I have been dismayed by how many people return watches that are simply on low power phase.
I guess some people just don't bother to read the manual and therefore don't deserve a nice solar watch.
Very good point, thanks for your feedback and for tuning in!
One of the best budget diver's watch...
Try it with a soft 22mm Natostrap,20mm is a little small for the 44mm case,
22mm fits better in the eye !
The LUME is CRAZY 🤪 ON THIS THING
Nice video man! Can you post the link where you bought it from?
Thx for the video, nice watch especially on a nato, can I asked what your wrist size is, I got a 7.25 size and wonder if this would be a tad too big for everyday wear?
My wrist size is 6-7/8….this watch should work out great for everyday wear, thanks for turning in!
Would be good with sweeping hands imo
The silver nato didn't look great. The navy blue definitely suits it better.
Agreed, thanks for the feedback.
Great video. Where did you purchase this piece? Thx
Picked this one up at a local Kohl's store. Been trying to buy from brick & mortar stores lately whenever possible. Thanks for watching!
@@nobetagear ok thx. sotc video???
Joseph A, I definitely want to put an STOC video together soon!
@@nobetagear ok. Cool
Mine has the same looking band but it does not have the decompression chart on it.
I believe some of the more recent versions of this watch feature a redesigned band without the chart…very cool, thanks for sharing this. I definitely need to revisit this series soon.
How come some unboxing vids have the tank and some don’t?
Do you still have the Citizen? Anyone had issues with the citizen bezel? I had the black version and it had an up and down play on the bezel... anyone experienced the same?
No longer have this version…I do recall the bezel was pretty clunky (A bit too much play in the mechanism when turned) for my liking.
I remember occasional reports of the bezel having some downward play. Mine does not have it.
I'm here just to find out how to open the box. I was trying to unscrew the base. And thank God I don't have the rubber strap. I hate those.
Cool, thanks for tuning in!
Where is that silver nato strap from?
Ritche Military Ballistic Nylon Strap off of Amazon, came in an assortment pack of 20mm.
Of course U can wear more than 1 wTch. Lots of people do. I often do. You wear 1 on each wtist.
I got mine 4 years ago. I use my Scuba Tank case to hold my condoms on my nightstand.
Is it ok for a wrist size like 6.5 inch ?
The band may be just a little bit long because it’s a dive watch (designed to fit around the thickness of a wetsuit) but easy enough to swap out for a better fitting strap if it’s a problem. Still a great watch…Thanks for tuning in!
The dial on this watch looks more black than blue in direct sunlight.
Would this look to big on my 6 inch wrist?
The case will tend be on the lager side for a smaller wrist in my opinion but it could still work. The stock band would have a lot of excess strap and definitely seem too long so if you were to get this watch, I would strongly recommend replacing the band for sure. Hope that helps, thanks for watching!
@@nobetagear your welcome. Thank you for the rest/advice. New subscriber
You couldn't turn the light off for the lume shot? Really?
Ahh, good point, thanks for the feedback.
What's your wrist size?
Mircea Costin 6-7/8”
you forgot to measure the case thickness!
Yep, my apologies, definitely an amateur move…case thickness is 12mm
I don't get the whole obsession over NATO straps by some collectors. NATO straps look so cheap.
Try this technique to soften up that strap ua-cam.com/video/BJ5Q-BYZZCI/v-deo.html
I have over 50 watches in my collection. Probably 20 automatics. I went through a phase where I bought quite a few solar.
It seemed to make sense to have a watch that didn't require a new battery every 3 or 4 years but also did not require setting the time before wearing.
So I purchased one Seiko, one Casio, and about 6 Citizen solar watches.
I made a habit of putting them in the window about once a month to keep them charged.
Here I am about 10 years later. The Seiko and Casio solar watches work fine. None of the Citizen Eco drive solar work. In fact none of the citizen solar watches worked longer than about 3 years. So there was no advantage whatsoever to them over a standard quartz watch.
Big disappointment!
I won't be buying or recommending Citizen watches going forward
Excellent feedback, thanks. Haven’t had any problems with my Citizen watches over the years but definitely worth considering. Thanks for the feedback!
Did you leave them in the dark for long periods of time? They should charge up if you put them in the sun for a day or two. I have 4 Citizens, my oldest two are 9+ years old and work fine, I have them on the shelf where they get some indirect sunlight and they work fine, lume still glows bright at night, and they are accurate to 3-4 seconds per month.
Why are you wearing a blue shirt? You’re trying to match the watch that’s ridiculous. Your video is nice.
