- I don't always use queen excluders but it is good to have a few on hand. Here's when I do and don't use them and why so you can decide if it's something you want on your hives.

Thanks for the tips and very good advise.
I live in Pennsylvania now but was stationed in Hawaii for 6 years - loved it!
Nice! There's a lot I love about both states :)
Love your videos have gotten a great bit of knowledge from you thanks for all you do.
Thanks for watching and for the comment!
Hi Larissa, great points. Both my brother and I use deep brood supers, 1 or 2 Ideal supers and then our flow hive super on top. We do use metal excluders below the flow super only. We do tend to get quite a few drones stuck in the queen excluder too. Thanks again TrickyTrev 🇦🇺👍🐝🍯
Cool to see your cat wondering around behind you. Like my dog always gets into the videos too.🇦🇺👍🐝🍯
That cat is so funny. She patrols the perimeter of our property all day long. Almost every time I look out that door I see her walking by :)
Hi, when adding new frames to the boxes to avoid swarming is there a specific type of frame we should be swapping out with (the old one that is in the box). Like a honey frame, brood frame, etc, thanks.
How can you keep your hive small with one brood box and one medium honey super?
How much does a five frame nuc colony sell for on the Big Island?
About $200-$250.
great info. What kind of wage does a commercial apairy in Hawaii pay these days? It might be an interesting job
It's been 7 years since I worked for a commercial apiary but I know it's pretty poor. I'd say it's still probably under $20/hr.
Is your honey comb still on the site?
It is!
