- According to recent interview with Microprose CEO - David Lagettie in PC Pilot, Falcon 5.0 is in plannig stage and will “support many aircraft on release, including the F-35”. I have so many questions about this statement - does "support" means it will be flyable? If it's F-35 which is still highly classified the fidelity of the avionics will most likely be simplified (which in the end may not be a bad thing). The future of flight sims may be bright again. There is also a mention about the upcoming Apache flight sim as well as news that MPS acquired CAP2 which may save the promising flight sim.
In the meantime enjoy my attempt at flying BARCAP in vanilla Falocn 4.0 - I got to eager and got shotdown, but at least me and my wingman took down 9 of the enemy fighters (7 Flankers and 2 Frogfoots).

Still the best dynamic campaign engine ever designed. I love hearing all the other packages making callouts. And the menu music is amazing.

Amazing game, remember getting the Box with Phone book manual, keyboard overlay and 4 page quick start guide. One of the last 'All-in' sims and sort of end of an era in many ways. 1998. What the team at BMS have done on the bones of this in the years following is amazing.
Just reminds viewers that “Falcon 4.0” is not for the average flight sim gamer. I wonder how “Falcon 5.0” will fare and what campaigns it will have (Afghanistan and Iraq is my guess).
Funny, I was just thinking about playing some old Falcon again. If you ever want to attempt some multi together let me know! Would be great to have a multiplayer vid of legacy Falcon on youtube.
I have two versions of manuals, the original english which is a little wider than the italian, books not pdf , I always given a sort of respect for these products, and nowday are placed in a shelf, well maintained.
I don't remember why I had multilanguage but anyway the real challenge was mastering the radar in Realistic mode, i was always unsure when locking on the many green dots and of course the procedures in BVR.
What I hated from vanilla 4.0 was the sky color gradient... it looks like there is a permanent smog layer over korea
But it’s ture… There is smog and sand from China…

Was there a Falcon 4.0 release for Korea? I wonder what that looked like. Considering that it models your country in the campaign!

Because of Korea media rating board censor process and National Intelligence Service delayed its launching.
And I enjoyed Falcon4.0 with full Korean version manual!
I still have this game package and Trustmaster HOTAS Cougar for it.

However it was quite delayed to launch in Korea because of censoring process(Probably military secrets and some sensitive information) by National intelligence service(Korean CIA)
After that Korea media rating board approved to launch this game.
Every time North Korea try to provoke with military power, it feels Falcon4.0 is not just a computer game. I can imagine that it could be happen someday as real…
And as far as I know Falcon4.0 campaign scenario is similar to real Korean military strategy plan.

What setup you use to run F4? GoG, Steam or original disks :) ? nGlide or DXWnd? In the 2D cockpit I have significantly lower FPS than in 3D, and some sort of resolution / rendering problem. The labels not rendered correctly, in 1600x1200 they are smaller than in this video on lower resolution parts of the labels missed / distorted.
GOGs release with nGlide 3dfx wrapper and fix found on the nGlide site.

Yes Microprose has the rights again.
Amazes me how far GFX have come since this...to almost realistic in DCS, however the Dynamic campaign in F4 has yet to be bettered. The fact that a dynamic campaign is STILL not available in DCS is a crime...microprose did it over 20yrs ago!!!!!...and yes I know certain servers have dynamic-esque campaigns, but offline sorely needs one. Most modern computers have more than enough cores and memory to do the work without impacting the primary application, especially now that MT and DLSS are in the core program.
Is this the steam version? 1.08 patch? How stable is it? Would love to jump back in to vanilla falcon
This is GOG version with nGlide and the patch available at nGlide compatibility page.
