SEA Games: Indonesia beat Thailand 5-2 in drama-filled football final | Goal highlights

- Extra-time goals from Irfan Jauhari, Fajar Rahman and Beckman Putra earned Indonesia the SEA Games gold medal for the first time since 1991 with a 5-2 win over Thailand on Tuesday (May 16).
Indonesia thought they had won deep into stoppage time but it turned out the referee had blown for a free kick in Thailand's favour. Thai player Yotsakorn Burapha made full use of it, scoring to send the game into extra time.
However, Jauhari put Indonesia back in front when he lifted the ball over Thai goalkeeper Soponwit Rakyart, before a bench-clearing brawl on the touchline raised tensions further. More details: cna.asia/453Jwwt

As a Filipino watching the game. Thailand players cannot accept that Indonesia made a goal or score. Fair and square. But some thai players or official cannot accept it and made some commotion to do some psywar on Indonesian players. But for the 3rd time watching the video .. indonesia truly made the goal fairly.
Its how Thailand played the game that really counts.

BTW it’s not Indonesia’s first gold at SEA Games footbal, it’s our third. But it is our first gold medal in SEA Games football in 32 years as the last time we won was in 1991 😂

Provokecations cause by both fans didn't help either team thus the image of the chaotic scenes at the byline is the only sad episode. Yg patut disyukuri adalah bagaimana mereka bermain dgn sangat baik scr teknik,taktik,mental dan attitude mereka di pertandingan selama even sea games ini berlangsung.
Kunci dr tim ini adalah coach Indra Sjafri (tanpa mengesampingkan para pemain dan official tim) yg berhasil membangun mental dan attitude para pemain.
Di dampingi oleh ex timnas yg pernah dihancurkan oleh Thailand (momen sea games 97 di jakarta),beliau adalah seorang mentor bertangan dingin pembangun timnas.

Dgn kecerdasan itu pula mereka bisa memanage emosi saat bertanding,bisa terlihat apabila tjd screamage antar pemain dan jg saat finishing di depan gawang lawan mereka gak nervous.

to thailand, the blame is on your staff at the side of the pitch when you guys equalized, if they havent provoked, your players would have still maintain the champion mindset and the game could've been on your side. thai players was just getting their morale boosted by the equalizer but pity for having such rude and unsportsmanship from the staff at pitch side that causes everything to be ugly

As you can see, right people can see, thailand in this game really really not fair play.
It is regrettable the Thai officials did not calm down their players, but provoked them instead. This is very disgusting. Players like Jonathan Khemdee and the Thai goalkeeper (I forget his name) should switch to Muay Thai. To be fair, some Indonesian players were also unable to control themselves but not as bad as Thai players and officials.
In the group stage, Thai players also showed disrespectful attitude to the Malaysian team when celebrating their goals. Despite their great skills, I think this is the worst Thai national team in the history of the SEA Games.
Anyway, I still respect and recognize the reputation of the Thai and also Vietnamese football teams. I think they are still the 2 best teams in Southeast Asia for other age groups.
The great news is, Jonathan Khemdee just announced his retirement from Thailand National Team. Good nobody want to watch his bad sportsmanship and poor attitude on the field.
The way I see it is thai needed the humbling. They always bully others until they get a taste of their own medicine and treatment. They needed to be put in their place because they’re a people of double standards and hypocrisy. The best way to deal with that is serve it right back so they will know they shouldn’t do that again in the future because the other countries won’t allow it.
