Wardlow's better than Jake Hager just for the fact that Hager looks like his mom dressed him up for picture day at school.
Hager is awkward and can’t talk.
😂
Hager needed Paul Heyman more than Lesnar did. And Wardlow can talk unlike Hager. Hager is a legit athlete don’t get me wrong, but he just isn’t entertaining.
"He has potential, but the mark booker ..." - Jim Cornette
I'm a ragging goof-Jim cornette
@Nick Thompson $mark Khan is A CLUELESS booker. I mean, the fact that Dave Meltzer cals him "booker of the year" tells me that Ole Anderson & Bill Watts as old as they are I hope before they pass away slap the shit out of Both Khan & Meltzer for not only hurting the business with Khan's bad booking, BUT also because Meltzer confusing the fans into possibly thinking that Khan's today's version of Ole or Bill Watts booking-wise, & he obviously & CLEARLY isn't anywhere close to the booking geniuses that Ole & Bill were back in the day.
@Nick Thompson Exactly right.
Wardlow has potential to be a really good big man in the ring. He’s still pretty green though.
Not really
Well everytime I see comments on someone green, Big Swole comes out of my brain very quickly
He’s only 6’2... not necessarily a big man

I just feel wrestling should have weight classes with an openweight championship, it will make weigh in segments actually make sense and allow the short kings to get their spotlight while not having them make the big kings look stupid, the big and smaller guys will both be able to have time to shine
He has potential and it's inevitable that he will turn face and feud with MJF
Jim's right, Austin Theory is amazing, one of my favorite wrestlers today, shame someone tried to sabotage his career during the speaking out movement, man did nothing to anybody and he's a cool dude. Someone with his talents in a good territory back in the day would be a mega star quickly.

@Philip Tucker & I often wonder EVERYTIME I WATCH THE CURRENT PRODUCT regardless of wether it's AEW,WWE, OR IMPACT, that there must be more people than just $ mark Khan that are more than likely doing cocaine when I see how the talent is booked & hear & see the promos that the talent are given to say on tv.
Damn the master already? he's only been doing this 2 years...is that a record or something? 🤔
Yeah I mean Miro proves your point. This is why I rarely listen to Cornette. He is rarely putting anybody over, and his audience buys his podcast gimmick as legit. People listen to this stuff for the comedy, but really just become jaded.
If you hate WWE, or AEW then don't watch it. Life is short, and you should enjoy your entertainment product.
Wardlow will be featured more once Rampage hits the air imo. I tune in during his matches because I see a star. We need to see him more I agree.

As far as your comments about Corny & his podcast go, Corny's done it all in the business & EVERY WEEK he EASILY points out & at times rips apart the illogical holes in Vince's & Khan's storytelling/booking of the talent & more importantly, he EASILY, LIKE OFF THE TOP OF HIS HEAD give suggestions on promos & booking ideas for the talent to help the talent come across as MORE believable, & make the current product to where they're not insulting the intelligence of the viewers & make it watchable every week.

It seems clear that most of the traditional big guys in AEW are going to have issues because the people running the promotion have no idea or interest in how to develop those types of wrestlers. The fact that they encourage some of the bigger guys to do cool looking high spots just to fit in despite the fact it is unnecessary in a regular match and sometimes looks dangerous shows the company has a bias toward the style that suits the bookers who work that way.
Nice synopsis!
Yeah cause they're against everything WWE is for... Big guys are disposable there lol...

I’ve always looked at Wardlow and said, he has a lot of potential and his the future of AEW. I have always liked his silent behavior. But ever since he was put into that ridiculous MMA fight, I just don’t know. Guys like him and Powerhouse (Will) Hobbs are great but they need to be careful on how they book the two.
Not really their fault really, the blame goes onto the booker of the year.

He has a good look, especially in a suit although in his wrestling gear he doesn't look quite as big as you would think but without promo skills, he'll never be a every day main eventer.
The suit thing is kind of "meh". Like a great value brand Lashley. Hobbs does have all the potential in the world, like a handful of other young AEW guys
He doesn't need to be a good promo. He looks good.

Wardlow is as Cornette likes to say a puppy with big paws, he's green but there's tons of room to grow. Problem is AEW doesn't have the facilities to encourage that growth in the right direction. Wardlow could really benefit from a run in NXT or even Ring of Honor who know what to do with him.
AEW does have the facilities to encourage that growth, there are people there who could teach him all he needs to know. But the environment is not one of learning from the experts. And a booker who doesn't think the audience cares about anything but strings of flashy moves isn't going to help. It's Lord of the Flies out there.
AEW is an environment that is not afraid to take it's time with doing things ... I have no idea what your problem is with how Wardlow is built guys ... he is in a strong faction, he is around a guy that has a bright future ahead. He is basically the same position Batista was during Evolution.
@@davidgreen5994 I didn't know Batista was a jobber who got choked out.

Right now Wardlow is jus MJF's Virgil
Damn not Virgil
Every AEW & Pro Wrestling fan knows Wardlow will eventually snap on MJF and knows his singles run is going to be one hell of a singles run in his professional wrestling career.
Wardlow is the closest thing we got to Rude but at the same time so very far away. Dude is cut, looks good in a suit, you can buy him as a bodyguard type, and it pretty much ends there. I still think that outfit he wrestles in looks super crazy.
Wardlow would have to lose about 30 pounds of fat to look even remotely like Rude. Furthest thing from cut.
It's been like 3 years, he's still "future champion / future main eventer but hes green"
while AEW is too busy pushing the Vice Presidents and former WWE guys
Someone never watched wwe in the 2000s i see.
AEW drops the ball with everyone who isn't the EVPs or Pockets. They don't care and/or don't know how to properly push someone.

AEW dropping the ball on Wardlow was big fail, but dropping the ball on MJF was a HUGE disaster. He was the best young talent they had and if he beat Moxley for the title could have been the best chance to build their brand. Now he doesn't even look like a championship contender.
Completely agree the moxley match should have been a title change. For the disbelief alone!!!! Booker of the year has 2 keep the strap on every champ. For 200 years. Vs letting mjf get it the night of the moxley match. But this shit we been forced 2 watch. Has done the same 2 me. What used to be my favorite wrestler. Is now just more garbage faction shit. Your 100 percent right about this bro
Too soon... They are building MJF just fine. He screwed Cody, he screwed Jerico and the Inner Circle, then he made his own faction, he is most likely going to defeat Jericho, achieve even bigger thing, him and his faction will most likely starting to collect gold too... He is gathering so much heat and so many accomplishments, that he is going to become a final boss in few years... If he would be booked in the way you guys think ''good booking'' would, MJF would basically end up being the Miz ... Just an asshole with mic skills that goes nowhere, and is stuck in the same format for the rest of his career... What purpose would taking the title from Mox to put on MJF would serve? How would it help MJF? Other than - he got to be the AEW champion - so basically a name on a list... And how it would help AEW? It would ruin all the long term story telling they build, and many other starts. It was clear that Kenny would take the title from Mox, since he lost that hardcore match at Full Gear, and it was clear that Kenny will end up becoming a heel to take that title from Kenny ... just like today is clear that Hangman will end up in a feud with Kenny and the Elites and take the title from Kenny ... this is an arc that has been 2 years in making. To ruin that just to give the title to MJF at a stage when he is not prepared in any way to make use of it, is basically WWE level booking.
MJF is just 25 years old ... he has +20 years to achieve a lot of things in his career.
@@davidgreen5994 I hear what you're saying, but giving him the title isn't just giving him the title. When you crown a champion they are part of what elevates your entire brand. On paper you might think of the Miz, but I think of The Rock. He was a nobody with potential and the mic skills to build heat. Just like MJF. Having the Rock claim the title when he did made every match for that title far more interesting because he had no legacy to make an obvious outcome. Kenny Omega with the title just means he defends it against guys that look irrelevant next to him because he has a tenured legacy and they're all relatively unknown. He can't build them up because he's too far above them. MJF on the other hand would make every title match more interesting because you don't know who will win and everytime someone puts up a fight against him you'd want to support them. Everytime he cheats to win it would feel more real and draw more heat. It wouldn't just be for him, it'd be for the whole locker room. A promotion full of unknowns needs to avoid big names holding the titles or even wrestling the roster until they convince the fans that the roster can compete. If everyone is Arguing Omega as the best, who on a roster full of guys you never heard of can compete? MJF gives you the chance to build your entire locker room while pushing a star only you've been able to secure in a major promotion. It's not just good for him, it would have been good for everyone.
@@mechtronikz2289 And you can push that 2-3 years down the road, and it would you would get the same result... heck, you don't even need the AEW title, you can get exactly that, with the TNT title. There would be no point, and no actual value. We are long gone the point where AEW doesn't have the ''star power'' in it's rooster. It's rooster is stacked with main eventers who can be in the title picture. A feud for the AEW title needs to be at least 3 months long to make sense... preferable 6. You get the best results in a year long feud thou... so generally, the format is - one long term feud, with 1-2 or even 3 smaller ones in - between. The feud for the title between Mox and Kenny, started even before, Mox won the title. It started at the first All-In, and ended when Kenny won the title from Mox. The feud for title between Hangman and Kenny, started to develop right after Dynamite started. Those are long term build ups, that get peoples invested on long term, and are far more valuable than - ''Oh, this guy who peoples hate, one the title, so let's watch him, hoping that he will lose...'' That's something he can do with the TNT title, is no AEW title material at this point.
@@davidgreen5994 perhaps, but if all the stories follow the same formula you can predict them a year in advance. The best part about hooking in your crowd is throwing curve balls they aren't ready for. If everyone has been waiting for Hangman to take the title since he left the elite then it won't shock or invest anyone. They already know it's coming. I get that Hangman, Omega, and Mox are all much bigger names, but that's exactly why I think MJF should have done it. If you aren't willing to build as many stars as you can, you get WWE. Where only two guys are worth a title shot and it gets boring real fast. Keeping fans guessing makes them excited to see what's next. Telegraphing it so badly that they can see it a year out cuts the momentum.
I like Wardlow quite a bit...but he has a way to go. That F-10 is doo doo......and the rising knee in the corner is too much "setup" to be a normal finisher.

Another guy that looks like he could be something that AEW just sticks in a group or in dumb matches like the MMA one. Maybe if he was a few inches shorter and 75 lbs lighter doing flips he'd be in more matches.
I don't think Hager is a complete waste of a roster spot. Mainly, you need him to run through people. AEW doesn't have very many big guys to begin with. But since Hager is a legit dude, and if you don't want him as a main event talent, then you have to find ways to make him lose without making him look weak. As for his personality, I don't think anyone has ever even tried a basic gimmick with him. Why not give him some sort of Ken Shamrock style psychotic rage gimmick?
Sadly, Hager is one of those guys who just hasn't got "it" in the charisma stakes. His face looks naturally dumb/clueless, he just doesn't look tough, no matter how tough he is in real life. He's just boring as hell, he can't do a rage gimmick because he hasn't got it in him. I wouldn't call him a waste of a roster space either, but he's also not ever going to draw any money by himself.
@@sonofafitch85 oh, no doubt he's boring as hell. I remember at his debut, no one looked as surprised to see Jake Hager there as Jake Hager did. But anyone can pull off an angry gimmick, that's all you need for some cheap heat with a super heavyweight. And I don't know how reliable he is, but he seems like he's a good hand. We already know AEW isn't going to put the title on him because he's not 5'9" and 170 pounds, but I don't see anything wrong with him being on the roster.

Wardlow i think will never be a champion because AEW DOESN'T know how to book the big man. Hate to say this but he would succeed in the wwe
He will... 3-5 years down the road. He will be TNT champion sooner thou. Is pretty obvious how Wardlow is booked and developed right now... he is on the Batista route -> Big guy in a heel faction, not necessary bad, more like in a bad gang, grows disillusioned with the faction as time goes, and one day turns against it, against the leader, becomes baby face and enters a feud against them, which may result in either the destruction of the faction, or him potentially taking the title from the leader ... or he gets over with the fans trough that feud, and is pushed as a single main eventer.
He could be batista post legacy if he would be pushed correctly by a true wrestling mind
I believe this is the fastest I responded to a corny video
And for no reason, congrats
Love the artwork Travis,

The only thing I don't like about Wardlow is his dropping knee rise finisher. It looks like the most unsafe move I've ever seen. Also, for what it's worth, Hagar has gotten a lot better on the mic in his time in AEW.
Jake has got better on the mic but Wardlow will never advance in the "pineapple" feuding with him..if they turn him face a good tv title match would be Mirrro vs Wardlow
So, to summarize, they should've done the Triple H/Batista angle with Wardlow.
Fuck that angle!
If they do Wardlow like WWE has did with Bautista; that would be the smart way to get him over.
Oh, you KNOW it's true! He WILL be the champ! I wonder if the person who asked this question looks at Wardlow the same way.

What’s his finisher?
Puts them on the top rope, grabs them by the throat and them drops them straight on his knee. You need to see it. It's excellent. If he screws up he'll mess someone up with it.
Wardlow’s finisher scares me. Wardlow doing his finisher scares me even more. I cringe when I see him doing it. I don’t know why another wrestler would allow him to do it or even take it. He’s going to have some real KOs and injured wrestlers in his career if he keeps doing it.
Yeah, but given the ever growing list of AEW injuries, we can't really have a conversation about safety in that company...not just regarding Wardlow but anybody.
@@koushikganesan1270 now, I want somebody to come along with a finisher called the "SAFETY VIOLATION!"....
It's either a sign of wrestling or society that a performer like Wardlow has to be already an absolute superstar and doesnt deserve the time to continue to grow in the spotlight. When he becomes big, the wrestling fans will spit and chew him out. Hollywood actors make good and bad movies all the time. Al Pacino was in S1m0ne and Gigli, yet is still respected because of his entire body of work.
I watched a bunch of his pro wrestling Indy stuff in iwcprowrestling which has UA-cam channel for those who are unaware and I encourage everyone interested to give all his work there a watch and judge for themselves.
Just so spot on
I think Wardlow will eventually be fine in the mic in time. Jim had Bubba as his bodyguard and Bubba couldn’t talk but obviously in time he did his own interviews. I see Wardlow in the same similar situation.
I forgot Swagger was a world champion > .
Yep less is more but especially in wrestling. It shouldn't be so hard too book guys too their strengths

Wardlow at this point just needs to go to WWE. He’s tailor made for them.
They need to finally call him Michael Wardlow.
I was disappointed they booked Wardlow as strong as they did in the cage match with a legit Jake Hager
He’s got so much potential and WILL be a champion in AEWbb
That mma fight was horrible. He looked horrible. It would have been better they just made it a shoot and have him get stomped in 40 seconds....That would have made Wardlow better. That mma fight was ridiculous. He should have never taken part in that abortion.
More like Discount Mr.Hughes
I think he has a TON of potential. But it's all about booking. And I have no faith in AEW's booking right now
Also some more training, he’s still kind of green
This should be a general philosophy on life
He would be better off in wwe. They like big dudes like him and can polish him nicely
Pat Patterson was the last guy to “polish” big dudes.
Oh like Keith Lee, Damien Proest, Dijakovic, Dio, and Dabba Kato? Yeah none of them standout in their current roles as Wardlow does.
HHH would've booked Wardlow better.

Taz COULD move to Elizabeth, NJ; he'd probably fit right in there....
I 100% agree with this. He isn’t dead yet, but…
I live in Tasmania. We are a state of Australia😄
Do real Tasmanian Devils have horns and transform into tornadoes when they run like the cartoon Taz?
Yes. Almost as scary as the deadly drop bear.
Remember Tomko? I see Aew fumbling and him ending up being Tomko.
Wardlow reminds me of Luther Reigns mixed with Rick Rude
He has a great look, but atm I think he suits the body guard role pretty well. Just have him beat people up every now, and then while he gets better in ring.
Wardlow is green for sure and I think any hope for him in AEW is done after the MMA match and how he’s been booked bright side he hasnt jobbed to Jelly or Kiss and as far as i know had any 20-30 min matches with either
Wardlow shouldn't have been working with Hager to begin with
But it could have been anyone beating Warlow and people would have been unhappy.
If Wardlow worked like a big guy and a bodyguard or henchman for MJF until he gets more experience, then they would have had something.
That ship has sailed
Yes. You only get 1 chance to set a first impression, but you can always steer the ship back on course.
Wardlow has the potential he just need more work on mic skills. He definitely will be a World Champion probably more likely in the Indies
Wardlow is going to be a future world champion in the aew he looks like to me like a Mason Ryan from the WWE time back during the Nexus era there's some money behind this kid
One problem he faces is they only wrestle weekly which isnt a problem but in aew you may not wrestle for weeks or in his case months i get protecting him but at some point you gotta do it enough to improve
Only person might help Warlow mic skills probably Vince
What's odd is that he did an episode AEW Unrestricted & he is extremely well spoken. I think they should do a break up angle with him & MJF & let him build some wins.
They will... the seeds have already been planted a while ago, when MJF was screaming at him and making it clear that he Wardlows is getting paid by MJF to work for him, and he has him by the balls with something, and later when the his gang was celebrating their Blood and Guts victory, and Wardlow was disinterested and was filtering with the girls in the background. Is pretty clear that Wardlow is developed similarly to how Batista was built in Evolution, and at some point in the future he is going to turn against MJF and his faction, and become a babyface... But that's in the future... maybe a year, maybe two. Peoples those days, have no patience with long-term story telling... they are so used with how WWE is writing things out of their ass and drop stories out of nowhere, that when something that requires months if not years of building and polishing right away, they call it bad booking.
Jake hager is a former world champion
This guy should've been the Batista to MJF's Triple H, only problem is, MJF is never going to be in that Triple H spot, or any main event spot outside of AEW and even there it's too late to matter after all the stupid shit they've done with him, so if MJF is wasted, Wardlow has no chance, maybe if he'd to get completely repackaged in WWE and get the spotlight shinning on him because some higher ups have a boner for him for some reason, which I don't see tbh.
Jim in all of his years of experience in the business must of checked into this kid's pro wrestling career background in Indy pro wrestling promotions that he wrestled in and or was a part of.
Bookers are never giving wrestlers the Goldberg run again. Wardlow going the route Cornette is referring to is now nothing more than bully booking. He would dominate every small ass nobody and then get dropped by the first big guy he faces. Wardlow has beaten Hager before who is his size and a star. Not some little kid that either of the Young Bucks could beat with both hands tied behind their backs.
Do you really call Hager a star?
