    I took a $ multi-day zoom class that included a lot of curves, but I learned more in this video! Thank you for making it so that the geometry works in my brain, now.

    Best tutorial for this so far. I like that you didn’t use pins for it. Those things get on my nerves and I avoid them like the plague. Thank you for sharing!

    Found your video by accident and glad I did ‼️(As I am a quilter) I bought a accuquilt die ( on a whim over 1 year ago) and just ran to my sewing room to see if the unopened never used package die had registration marks?! Yippee it does .. because ..I am in the middle of making my first and LAST drunkards path quilt that didn’t have registration marks on its pattern and actually poor written instructions (which actually boosted my resolve that the clam shell quilt will NEVER get made) BUT WAIT .... I watched your video just now and I AM EXCITED TO GET STARTED ON MY 1st CLAM SHELL QUILT ( I’ll start with a cute baby quilt) Thank You, Thank You for the SPARK! Fabulous video can’t wait to watch them all 🧵🪡🧵🪡🧵🪡

    Came across your videos for the Clammy while trying to find a 3 1/2” template for the drunkards path block. Excellent tutorial! I never wanted to sew the clamshell quilt because it looked too complicated. After watching this, I just may try it! Also, I loved the patterns you showed at the introduction to this series, especially the “clam toss”. Looking forward to getting my first clammy now. Thanks for making this look easy! Also, I found using the “stitch finger” or (other tool) helpful for pulling the fabric edged together as I sewed. I decided I needed something after sewing through a fingernail. Lol. Thanks again for the lesson.

    This is such a great video tutorial! Thank you, Latifah! I just bought your Caliloo Quilt pattern. I learned to sew curves some time ago with a class with Jenny of Sew Kind of Wonderful. She teaches you to sew curves with the concave curve down, the opposite of your method. But I can really see the advantage of your method in this case. I can't wait till my 12" Clammy arrives so I can start my quilt!

    Thank You for your excellent tutorial. I would never have figured out how to do this without visual instructions. I would like to know though, does it matter if you’re last row is a even or odd row? Looking for fabric now.

    • @LatifahSaafirStudios
      @LatifahSaafirStudios  5 років тому

      Thank you for watching! All the bottom rows in the layouts provided in the Glam Clam pattern are even rows so they are all pieced as shown in the video. It's such a fun sew. Share pictures when you finish!

    Hi. Just stumbled across your video. Very pretty and interesting..what is a registration mark? Never heard of that before. Not much of a sewer so not sure what your talking about. Lol

    • @latifahsaafir6424
      @latifahsaafir6424 5 років тому

      It's simply a mark that we use to line things up. Many people when they sew curves get off track and this helps them to stay on track. :)

    What is the name of the fabric you are using, great tutorial? Is this quilt you are demonstrating using only one template? If so what size is it?

    • @LatifahSaafirStudios
      @LatifahSaafirStudios  4 роки тому

      This was my last fabric collection called Nineteen-Eighty-Five with some of the Hoffman Indah Batiks mixed in. I believe I'm demoing with the 10" Clammy. If you are fairly new to piecing curves I encourage you use one of the larger sizes - either the 10" or the 12". The curve is much easier to sew and your quilt will go together quicker. My personal fave is the 12"! :)

  • @boojangles
    @boojangles 5 років тому

    I just purchased the pattern and the 12" clammy. I am still a beginner. Would you recommend starting with one of the smaller clammy templates my first go?

    • @LatifahSaafirStudios
      @LatifahSaafirStudios  5 років тому +1

      No! The 12" is your friend if you're a beginner. The larger the curve - the easier it is to sew. And your quilt will go together quicker too. Have fun and remember to breathe. :)

    Does the 10 inch clammy fit on a 10 inch layer cake square?

    • @LatifahSaafirStudios
      @LatifahSaafirStudios  6 місяців тому

      Hello @johncarney1876. Clammy size is the finished size so the 10" Clammy is 10 1/2" unfinished which is slightly too large for a layer cake. Look for the "Ten Square" Clammy to hit soon which is perfect for layer cakes!
