My mother was originally from Chicago. Halsted Street was named after my maternal great-great- great grandfather. But all I knew about Chicago was the Second City comedy school, the Iroquois theater tragedy of 1903, the Chicago Fire and what I read in crime novels and saw in movies and on TV. this invaluable video makes me feel as though I'm being introduced to the city, that I've been given an invitation to walk through it, examine and explore it. Urbanity is my passion, my blood, my life. I keep watching these Chicago videos over and over again!! THANK YOU!! 💝💝💝
Charlie you make me appreciates my city. People talk about Chicago and I agree too many shootings. But when I visit other places, the poverty is mind blowing. People sleeping outside in record numbers. Chicago tore down its eyes sores 20 years ago. Those projects on the Green line was so very depressing. But now its all new town houses. Chicago is no where near as poor as sone places.
Born, breed raise in Chicago, in the blood, but had to leave their in 1982. It broke my heart to Witnessing what was happening to my city. Still got alot of family there but so many also had to leave.
Chicago’s a real deal economic hub, I don’t think any city in the country’s skyline has changed that much including New York in the last 10 years. The city is just so segregated.
@@lionofjudahlambofgod9132 yeah pretty much,we went on field trips to museums and everything, they fed us,the only problem was the corner store used to get closed for 2 years at a time because it repeatedly got robbed.

3 years ago I flew into Chicago for my first ever visit..didnt know what to expect..( here I carry and have a knife) as I felt really naked at first..stayed a couple blocks away from Lincoln hotel..I must say I enjoyed walking on Clark Street and going to the zoo..took in a cubs game..must say glad I visited Chicago

Wow, very impressive.. this is a privlage for Chicago's, id like to take a moment and congratulate, Mayor Lori Lightfoot of Chicago, and Governor of Illinois Gov. JB Pritzker .. Job well done 👍
Got off the dan Ryan on 71st. West to Halstead. North to 55th Garfield Blvd. East to Princeton. South to 61st place. east to wells. Ended at 63rd and Wells.
Armond Chaney - yeah they did that to all the worst areas of Pittsburgh. Get ready for the rents to skyrocket. Yes they did make some neighborhoods nice. But then all these trendy hipsters that work for tech companies move in and price their of everything goes up. And the soul and vibe of the neighborhood goes down.
