- Humboldt Park, one of 77 designated community areas, is on the West Side of Chicago. The neighborhood is known for its dynamic social and ethnic demographic change over the years. The Puerto Rican community has identified strongly with the area since the 1970s. Humboldt Park is also the name of a 207-acre (0.8 km2) park adjacent to the community area.
The park was named for Alexander von Humboldt (1769-1859), a German naturalist and geographer famed for his five-volume work Cosmos: Draft of a Physical Description of the World. His single visit to the United States in 1804 did not include Chicago, but citizens sponsored his monumental statue, unveiled in October 1892.
Regrettably, violent crimes in Humboldt Park are 302% higher than the national average. You have a 1 in 17 chance of becoming a victim of crime in that area. Though wealthier families have moved into Humboldt Park as it has gentrified over the past 20 years, data show shootings and murders in Humboldt Park have remained largely steady over the past decade.
I recorded this footage yesterday (09.29.22) around noon. The weather was nice but a bit cloudy.
The only dangerous part of Humboldt Park is the southern part. Everything else especially the Northern and gentrificafied Eastern area are fairly safe to me. Feels like a safety zone compared to whats south in Garfield Park. Also many parts of Humboldt Park are beautiful. I've done alot of Uber and Door dash deliveries here and lived half of my life here. Nice warm people that would give their shirt off their back to help you!
Unfortunately, that’s not Humboldt Park. Humboldt Park is the area of North Avenue, Kedzie, California, Division. I do appreciate your videos as it brings back lots of memories. Thank you for what you do.

It's a Puerto Rican hood but also Mexicans and other Latinos live here. But its starting to get integrated and gentrifyed with other races
