    It's no secret that I love hear so when I came across a crazy deal on the Squier Classic Vibe Baritone on Black Friday, I figured it was worth the $250. This is not a sponsored video or anything, I just took a chance since I've been wanting a baritone for awhile and WOW this thing is really worth twice the money!

    I’ve been so impressed with the imports the last few years. This is another good example of guitars built to a price point don’t suck like we used to think!

      Very much agree! $500 feels like a fair retail price, at $350-$400 I’d say it’s a great value. At $250, it feels silly not to get one. That’s how I think about it in hind sight.

    I like the definition and clarity- I just checked out one of these, and preferred it over the Gretsch Jet baritone for that reason. Ended up getting the P90 Cabronita version for a little more “beef”, but the CV is great too.

    Got my son that baritone last year....new, $299. Other than sitar nut cut on high E....he loves it...and he's a pro. I have two CV50 Tele guitars....a little TLC, Fralin/Lollar pups...KEEPERS!! Tuners can be suspect on CV's.

    Love Squiers, like you I own many high dollar guitars, but the Classic Vibes are the guitars I go to! I've had the Cabronita Baritone Tele with P90s for a year, great instrument. I also love my two 50s Teles, one converted to Esquire specs. I also love my 50s blonde Stratocaster that I put gold hardware on ( poor mans Mary Kay). Great value, great sound!

      I had been eyeballing those Squier baritones with the P90s. Almost pulled the trigger but luckily this came up for $250 so I couldn’t resist.

      I may end up going down that road with you dude! I just ordered a sunburst classic vibe tele (non baritone) because I’m so impressed with this, and I’m sure I’ll end up doing some mods to it! 😂

      @@ToneJunkieTV hellz yeah. You won’t be disappointed. There’s a vid on my channel of a cover of “are you gonna go my way” and that was basically out of the box from a random reverb seller, used. Killed the Solo and I did the backing guitars with the Gibson I ended up selling lol. Great guitar!

    Great demo thanks, gassing for this or the cv 60s custom atm... Love tele's - have the squier std and that is so good to play and the stock pups sound good! Isn't B a fourth below E? Cheers 😎

    I own around 10 of these newest Squiers and 10 of the newest Epiphones. They are killer guitars. I have others like PRS PS and Gibson CS but the fun factor and playability on these are through the roof. They’re my everyday players. For your next buy a Squier 40th Anniversary Vintage Jazzmaster. You’re welcome.

      @@ToneJunkieTV PSA they come in several flavors. The lower end is Affinity. Those are truly the budget models although they can be fun as well. Then there’s the MIC Paranormal and Contemporary which have been mostly good for me. You NEED to try the Contemporary HH and Special. Danish Pete turned me on to to the HH which is basically a Fender HM Strat. And the Special has uniquely wired SSS setup and the black with anodized pickguard looks awesome in person. The Classic Vibe, FSR, and 40th I believe are all MII and seriously play, feel, and look like serious guitars. They easily hold their own against MIM Fenders and I have several that are as good as my MIA and MIJ guitars. The purple Andertons/CME CV Jazzmaster is another great one as are the 40th anny regular and vintage models. Anywho enjoy!

    • @ToneJunkieTV
      @ToneJunkieTV  Рік тому

      Yeah, It's hard to really compare them tonally because the strings are so much lower and more beefy. The bridge maybe a bit thin, but the low end still sounds big. I am thinking about some other pups for it already because I can't help myself! LOL!

    Surprisingly, Baritone telecasters are really good for metalcore. They are bright and sparkly, and can drop tune without the strings getting flubby. The bright spanky tone actually helps for having a defined pick attack, which is really helpful in Djent (progressive metal) when doing the short gated stop/go palm mute chuggs.

    Longer scale is nice but I don't see the point other than that. You can tune any guitar to b as long as you setup right. What I'd like to know is does the baritone offer more options for much lower tunings/bigger strings over a normal tele

    • @madsam7582
      @madsam7582 2 місяці тому +1

      The longer neck is nice because you get a looser tone, yes a standard length scale can be tuned down to B, but that just sounds rattly.
      A baritone can go lower, but it also sounds rounder.

    • @MattTheBassPlayer
      @MattTheBassPlayer Місяць тому +1

      Longer scale length adds more overtones to the fundamental resulting in a brighter sound than you would get in a standard scale length. It also allows adds tension to the strings, which means you can get away with using lighter strings than you would on a standard scale with an identical tuning. This also results in a brighter sound. You are correct that you can tune a standard guitar down to B (or lower), it'll just means you'll have to using extra heavy strings to avoid it being too loose, and it'll sound darker than it would on a baritone. Some guitar players prefer this darker sound, so a baritone would be unnecessary for them.
      As for your question about getting lower tunings on a baritone- you can go pretty much as low as you want. You'll likely have to order heavier strings and possibly widen the slots on the nut to make it happen, but it's doable. The baritone in this video is 27" but there's a lot of baritones that are 29.75", which is very close to the scale length of a Bass VI (a 30" scale 6-string bass that's tuned an octave lower than a guitar and looks just like, and can sound like, a baritone). At 29.75" you can tune like a Bass VI very easily, and some guitar players will tune it as low as B (as in the low B on a 5-string bass). I wouldn't recommend tuning that low on the guitar in this video though.
