I hope one day someone successfully makes clones of the SNES’s PPU chips! I’ve known reverse-engineering to be a thing for years! One day we’re gonna run out of donor boards and there’s always a chance the PPU chip you get from the donor board might be a bad one too! So far, the most helpful person I’ve asked regarding this has told me that FPGA chips might be the answer. As long as full Mode 7, Super FX and SA-01 compatibility remains intact! I mainly opted for an OG model system for full Game Genie compatibility!

Funny, I had some of the same issues when restoring my SNES. I needed 3 consoles and one of them was super brittle like your 3rd one.
Oh, it was annoying. But I know what I'm going to do with the other one once I fix the pads on PPU 1.
