At Breakthrough News we believe in the power of independent media. Five mega-corporations dominate the media landscape - controlling 90% of what we read, watch and listen to. They control the news cycle, to which social media and even most “alternative” media is forced to respond. We are breaking through that cycle.
We tell the untold stories of resistance from poor and working-class communities - because out of these stories we will construct a different narrative of the world, as it is and in real time.
People’s movements in every corner of the globe are changing history and shifting consciousness. But these movements barely receive any coverage from the corporate media. They need visibility. They need amplification. They need a media arm to break through.
We can be that media arm, but only with your help. Become a Patron and join us on the front lines in the battle of ideas.

This channel is seriously underrated for real (and so do other alternative medias)! Also this cool lady Rania, she keeps coming with banger content and awesome correspondent, I can't get my mind straight how could she done that I mean getting all these brilliant people..😳
On another notes, I feels like Iran is among those highly politicized topics which is frequently overshadowed and suppressed heavily by the "global" voices of the West. I'm just sad I can't possibly find easily any other alternative sources, people, and medias to learn all things about Iran unfiltered because they'll most likely become easy target from US cyber attack (Press TV being notable example)😥😞

so even under the Obama administration they pressures their 'allies' in Europe to keep some of the sanctions up

43:30 That’s the point. If existential threats exist it’s not about majority or minority. Considering the geostrategic position Iran is in there is no room for „majority decisions“ on fundamental questions.
For example, if Germany is attacked by foreign forces the German constitution transforms to an emergency constitution and the first thing that goes out the window is elections. And this doesn’t mean a full out military invasion, for this so called „Verteidigungsfall“ a terrorattack like 9.11. is enough.
Iran is threatened every day with war, sabotage even nuclear strikes by the worlds biggest military power. Iran exists in a constant state of emergency
If someone talks about reforms they mostly mean getting rid of the position of the King/Supreme Leader. But he is the only reason Iran was able to maneuver through the past decades based on a clear line. Iran can’t afford to have a change in regional or internal policys every 4 years.

The US regime rule the world with an authoritarian iron fist to limit freedom not only domestically but in the rest of the civilized world (all the other countries in the UN). The US disgusting regime want to control and shut down Free Speech globally using their SiliconValley intelligence-wing monopolies. Some important corrections to what has been said:
    - "US is not an authoritarian state" only works with the narrow liberal definition of authoritarianism. The guest should read more about the conditions of the black and brown, and more importantly the Natives in the US.
    - "Iran is not a democracy" is also too narrowly defined using the liberal definition. Democracy has to do with the power the population have on the policies of their place (city, country, etc.). In that sense, Iranians have way more to say about it than the guest claims.
These shows that the NIAC is still attached to the Western (and orientalist) views of the World. These people would have called Ancient Greece democratic despite the society based on slavery.
It is also so funny to see US citizen for 2-3 or more generations still calling themselves as belonging to the country of their ancestors. This goes to show the internalized colonial mindset of the people living there. That guest for instance is not Iranian-American, she is US American of Iranian descent as she points out quite perfectly. Native scholars have pointed that fact out in the US and Canada, a feature of settler-colonial states. One caveat could be made for black people, but even there, the colonial mindset is present as F. Fanon would have put it.

Great guest. The whole question of whether "a war is won or lost" is very puzzling. First of all, are they really wars? To me they aren't "wars" at all. And whatever they are, I think they could be characterized as being many things at once and war is not one of them because what happens when the US pulls out of Afghanistan? Nothing. The US isn't losing anything. They are nothing but occupation and terrorism.
Were the Crusades wars? They were state building campaigns to salvage political power in the homeland and to control populations at home in Europe. To call them wars is simply part of the PR and propaganda that is created to accompany these state building campaigns.
To me when people talk about the US losing these wars, one they aren't wars and two they aren't losing. They are succeeding wildly. I admit I fall into the habit of calling them wars but it is a misnomer because the PR campaigns are so hegemonic they control the public discourse. They are successful in the same way think tanks and K St. lobbies are successful. They work endlessly with endless resources to stop legislation, to pervert legislation and to straight up write and pass legislation. Of course they will always complain that corporate taxes are too high even if they are capped at 25 cents. But it is complete rent seeking takeover. That is what foreign invasion, occupation, and state sponsored terrorism is. It is throwing endless resources at the region, whether it be the middle east, Africa, or South America, or Asia and doing as much damage to functioning sovereign governments, economies, and societies.
Societies are destroyed by US invasions. This is success from the state departments point of view. It shouldn't be a zero sum game, but they do everything they can to make it a zero sum game. Oh and btw, where do these endless resources come from?
Blinken, his predecessors and their partners make Putin look like a girl scout. It doesn't matter because a large part of the global mass media is controlled by what amounts to private state contractors in the media monopoly business i.e. Murdoch, Twitter, FB, NBC, Netflix, Amazon, Hollywood etc. etc. These are state contractors just like Raytheon, Lockheed Martin, Boeing and the rest.

As someone living in Iran, I strongly disagree with some of the points that my dear
    compatriot, Asal, made.
I think reformists' economic policies have severely damaged Iran's economy.
And let's face it. Reformists from Khatami to Rouhani have always been on the doorsteps of US government officials begging for crumbs and they always get absolutely nothing while destroying our national image and pride.
At the same time, they completely ignore the super necessary internal reforms that should be done regarding the domestic economy and government structures. Seems like the only thing they are "reformist" on, is Iran's relationship with the US.
I consider Raisi more of a reformist when it comes to the domestic economy and our international relations and relations with our neighbors.

The reformist governments in Iran in the last 30 years have only pursued one major policy, namely to restore Iran's relations with the US at any cost while pursuing neo-liberal economic policies. I doubt very much that the Iranian reformists (specially their leaders) would agree with Asal on the US militarism.

When you understand that Ruhani was a moderate and not a reformist, then you will write a more educated comment. Khatami's was the only reformist government, and to see how successful he was, just google financial indexes. Khatami had the lowest unemployment and inflation rates. Here is the link to one of the economy websites in the case that it's difficult for you to find it: tradingeconomics.com/iran/unemployment-rate "Pride" doesn't come from military power, only. A part of the pride is a good relationship with the world, financial prosperity, freedom, people satisfaction, etc. There isn't much left of your "pride", while you are not able to provide food, electricity, and water for your people. ALL branches of your government are deep into corruption, and people are suffering in a miserable life. While your politicians and their families are enjoying the money taken away from the people. Just try to be honest instead of baseless propaganda. If you don't learn your lesson from history (i.e., the Shah, USSR, etc.), you will have to learn it in a difficult way. It is meant for emergency back-up, I assume:
If Artish's air force gets destroyed by combined attack of US and Israel, then IRGC can jump onto fill that gap easily. Or vice versa can be true as IRGC has its separate naval force.
Iran is beleaguered by a lot of regional and extra-regional foes, so it is natural for Iran to have as many forces as possible to counter threats on land, air and sea.
But the air force of Iran is not up to the mark.
Iran relies heavily on missiles and drones programs at its disposal.
Finally, the nuclear program of Iran is also a kind of alternative deterrence to existential threats like Israel and US.
Iran has become a nuclear threshold state currently.
Iran can build 5 nuclear weapons within a week in a short notice. Since 2018, Iran has reduced its reliance on conventional force by becoming a nuclear weapon-capable state.
Israel with its nuclear weapons cannot attack Iran anymore.

I love Iranian history as an American who's half Iranian, I always wanted to work in politics where I can make a stand for Iran's case and I'm so happy you wonderful ladies are doing that. I hope one day to work for a think tank and study Iran and help represent the plight of the Iranian people against the onslaught of the West. Thank you again

Gutterres at the Un council said it clear enough that Israel should stop interfering in the Gaza state. Israel has become an apartheid state. The Us and Israel have a vote in the Un council but Gaza and Iran not..!Time for change in the vote system in the council. The African Union should have voting power too..!

Rania I certainly appreciate you for talking to different people in the Iranian political spectrum. So thank you for that.
But is it time to say "told you so"!? To those had hope Biden changes policies toward Iran?! Wether it's Ruhani adm or Mr Zarif, or NIAC who saw Biden as the savior of Iran deal while we the revolutionaries from the beginning of JCPOA knew it won't change anything.. as the leader himself said you can go and negotiate but I'm not optimistic. Don't trust the Americans!
US government despite the illusion of 2 parties is to secure the Zionists' interests at any cost. The main effective sanctions against Iran belongs to Obama era! Look at the statics..
Just to address Asal's accusation against Mr Raeesi. Why are you repeating MEK talking points? He is a human right abuser bcz he was involved in the persecution of MEK Terrorists who have killed 17000 Iranians over time?
That's not a good color on you dear
And about the claim of Iranians being mostly reformist. If you based that claim on the 2 last election when Ruhani took the office I should tell you many Iranians who voted for him were voters of ahmadinejad! But they wanted to try the negotiations bcz they were under economic pressure by the sanctions. So that vote was not to reformists but to JCPOA! That's why Ayatollah Khamenei agreed to negotiate but told them don't trust Americans.
And now many who didn't vote were the middle class who are not in any camp politically but under a severe pressure by the sanctions and mismanagement of Ruhani adm.
So reformist camp in fact don't have any grass roots in the society anymore. But you aligned them with those who want any changes in the situation and sum it up as the reformists. That is miscalculation.
In fact in middle class and the ordinary Iranians the 2 parties have no meaning! But the elite doesn't understand that.

It is frustrating to see intelligent people pointing-out and arguing against the US stated reasons for war when it seems to me that it is obvious that the US government's reasons to attack other countries are purely diversionary at best. See what the real reasons are and work on those, otherwise you are wasting time arguing stated diversion s.

An issue I had with Assal is that she is brainwashed to think the US regime is Democratic when in reality this is the biggest uncivilized regime of all regimes. The US regime rule the world with an authoritarian iron fist to limit freedom not only domestically but in the rest of the civilized world (all the other countries in the UN). The US disgusting regime want to control and shut down Free Speech globally using their SiliconValley intelligence-wing monopolies. On top of that, the US-regime is going after TikTok and WeChat to steal them from China so that there is no more alternative for freedom and free speech.
