Not a Dodger fan, just a baseball fan, still remember Tommy's reaction when Gibson hit that home run off eckersley, watched it live, I'll never forget that, lasorda is 1 of the all time greats, God bless you, he will be up in heaven with rest of greats!!!!!
After this interview, Lasorda filmed an episode of "The Baseball Bunch" reminding kids to play hard, listen to your parents, and always watch your language.
A classic, if profane moment in baseball commentary and analysis. Mr. Lasorda was always entertaining and quotable, if you were willing to find ways around the off-color stuff. He orchestrates, starting slowly, and engaging in the classic crescendo of rhetorical geniuses. You go, Mr. Lasorda, you go.
That one was a classic this is why Tommy Lasorda was and still is a boss! I had the pleasure of meeting him at a Dodger game and people think he is arrogant or brash. The guy was so nice and you could feel his passion he talked to me for several innings(we were sitting very close to one another) about the Dodgers, who he think's will do well, who he thinks will do poor. He was the manager or coach(whatever you want to call it) of the people and that is why we love him so much. You are the man Tommy Lasorda great answer lol fucking .130 CLASSIC ANSWER!
Besides being a lifetime Dodgers fan how can any baseball fan not love this guy ! The passion he had for the game ! The love for the team that he managed and this video is hysterical besides that he makes a very good point ! Rest easy Tommy 🙏🙏
I had the priviledge and pleasure of attending Tommy LaSorda's 88 Birthday. A private affair downtown LA with a dozen or so others most of us Veterans. Many people don't know just how much support Tommy and the Dodgers give to our Veterans. He is a true wealth of baseball lore and captivated the entire group with stories from his rookie year to the day he was released to make room for Sandy Koufax, which by the way he said, "was the biggest mistake the Dodgers ever made" LOL! I will treasure that day forever. Everyone was able to ask him one question and I asked him, "what did you say to Kirk Gibson after he touched home plate?" He smiled, looked me right in the eye, "that was one hell of a crazy night" Go Dodgers!
Thanks Tommy. l listen to this almost everyday just to get a laugh. That is funny shit. I miss the days where coaches had this kind of passion and wouldnt get fined for a tirade like this. The world is too complicated now. Bring back the 70's and 80's and the freedoms that go along with it. And bring back the music from that era! Today's music sucks!!!
What an effed up world that no longer allows people to express themselves, as they see fit, without suffering dire consequences. In other words, you could't do that today.
And Lasordas career in the majors lasted about 50 years while Bevacqua was around for about 10 minutes. Face it, if not for Lasordas rant the world would have forgotten about Kurt YEARS ago!
Says the guy who is too ashamed to use his own photo? and again, Lasorda lasted 50 years in the game while Bevacqua was around for 15 minutes. Hell, if not for Lasorda, people would be saying kurt who?
***** Do you even know what a "wop" is? I can assure you, that with a last name like McCarty, i most assuredly am NOT Italian. Apparently your knowledge of ethnic slurs is even less than your knowledge of baseball.
+Janette McClelland Yup, Healey was more timeless even than these clips. And they were actually even funnier with all the bleeping. Weekdays 5:30 to 6:00 have never been the same since the dreaded 6:00 tone sounded for the last time.
My mom became a fan after she heard this clip and the Dick Williams "you talk about chicken(bleep)"clip. The bleeps helped set up the punchline of Healy's stories. Sometimes he'd even be laughing after he'd use the sound bite as an effect. Sorely missed 20 years after his death.
+Janette McClelland If my memory is correct, Dick Williams "you talk about chicken(bleep)" was actually related to this clip. Williams said it in the game where Neidenfuer apparently hit one of the padres batters. He was ranting about how the Dodgers had hit all these home runs against the Padres that year, and had never been thrown at, but the Padres hit one and Neidenfuer throws at the next batter. Eventually Neidenfuer was fined and Bavacqua commented "They should fine that fat little Italian too, he ordered it." And this clip is, of course, Tommy's timeless response to that.
+Janette McClelland By the way that one clip of Williams contained the clips Healey would use over and over again "you talk about chicken (bleep)" AND "Neidenfuer, my (bleep)!"
I laugh every time hearing this. No managers have BALLS like this anymore, everyone has to be Politically correct...I love that he was pissed and he let it all out! My favorite is Earl Weaver rants tho. Two thumbs up for Tommy Lasorda !
I laugh every time I listen to this! RIP Tommy, a great baseball man...with balls! All the "politically correct" thinking ways nowadays...here's a man who is PISSED, and lets it out! "Or fu*kin Bevacqua, who couldn't hit water if he fell out of a fu*kin boat." Priceless!
This was a good one. Truth be told, the quote "couldn't hit water if he fell out of a boat" is in the coaches/managers handbook to be used as needed. Its been used before. But always a good laugh when used at the right time. This was one of them "right times" RIP Tommy. Look for his speech at Coopers Town. He has a couple of good stories that are his own and probably really happened. He didn't curse in front of his wife, daughter or anyone elses wife. But give him a male reporter and he will let'er rip. Thanks Tommy for the many memories.
I remember when Lasorda was the 3rd base coach of the Dodgers when Walter Alston was the Manager. The Reds were playing the Dodgers in Cincinnati. Pete Rose was playing 3rd base. Lasorda was "miked up" just absolutely dogging Rose the whole game: talking about his family, his looks, his haircut. Rose for the most part brushed it off. But towards the end of the game Lasorda finally landed one and Rose started laughing. That's the Lasorda I will always remember.
As a lifelong Cubs fan since 1976, I've always had the highest respect for not only the LA dodgers overall, but specifically Tommy Lasorda. You want "Genuine", Honesty, etc.??? Ask Tommy, you'll certainly get it!! R.I.P. Tommy
my dad showed me this video a long time ago when i first started getting into baseball & the dodgers…love you dad and tommy R.I.P both 💙🤍 we bled dodger blue together
Don't mess with an Italian, cause he'll tear you a new one! Tommy was one of a kind. That man wasn't playing when he said one time after a hospital stay that when they drew his blood, he bled blue! RIP, Tommy. You're finally in true blue heaven!☝️💙
"A team that had guys on it like BEVACQUA..." The way he just spits the name "Bevacqua" out is absolutely glorious.
Love how he starts calm and diplomatic and then quickly builds up to rage level 100!
Yup! For us Dodger fans, that's our Tommy! ⚾⚾⚾⚾⚾ 👍👍👍👍👍 😁😁😁😁😁
That’s old school Italians for ya. Haha
I just fell in my bath tub!!
Exactly. It’s hysterical.
Couldn't agree with you more. So calm and then erupts.
Why sugar coat it Tommy. Say what's really on your mind.
John Greene
They’re always holding something back...
😂😂😂😂😂
😂🤣😂🤣😂
That's Terrible!
He called me a Wop & I hate that punk! said Tommy1
I'm a lifelong Padres fan and I can never get enough of this. RIP Tommy.
Same here! Loved that guy
Me too. It's not easy is it?
"Couldn't hit water if he fell out of a fuckin boat"...Lasorda is classic.
sprdvx I just posted that before I realized you did. Sorry.
could you imagine the whining on ESPN's website these days if somebody said something like that?
But Kingman could!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!11
GIANTS FAN HERE ...JUST WANNA PAY MY RESPECTS TO TOMMY LASORDA R.I.P. ..
Dodger fan here....we need you guys, like you need us....it wouldn't be the same any other way. #ClassicRivalry

Dodger fan here respect, thx tocayo
Not a Dodger fan, just a baseball fan, still remember Tommy's reaction when Gibson hit that home run off eckersley, watched it live, I'll never forget that, lasorda is 1 of the all time greats, God bless you, he will be up in heaven with rest of greats!!!!!
Thank you sir
Rest In Peace, Tommy! You were truly one of a kind, and you will be missed dearly.
Hey Tommy how do you really feel?
Tommy will rest but, God love him, it won't be in Peace.
RIP Tommy Lasorda true Dodgers legend, and a hell of an interview
After this interview, Lasorda filmed an episode of "The Baseball Bunch" reminding kids to play hard, listen to your parents, and always watch your language.
& "If you fall off a boat, then hit water"!
Oh the irony... hahahahahaha 🤣🤣🤣🤣
He did because he cared about kids. Lasorda was old school. Nothing wrong with that.
hilarious and actually true. LoL
Who is the picture of the 🐔 sucker in the montage? One of the players he was ranting about?
Came here after hearing Tommy is in the Hospital. Had to watch this again. I love this guy.
Same here, makes me laugh out loud every time I watch this video.
Me too
Came here to say RIP to a true legend.
Miss you forever Tommy! Go Dodgers.
Is it possible to hate the Dodgers and love Lasorda? RIP
My favorite Lasorda rant. Rest in peace Tommy Lasorda, in the great diamond in sky!
Someone shared this on Twitter. One of the greatest things I've ever heard. RIP Tommy.
At least a couple of times a year I listen to this. Pure gold.
Sometimes, you just gotta.
Rest in Peace Lasorda. One of the best managers and characters this game has ever had.
That. Was. Awesome.
That is one of the funniest things I have ever heard. Laughed my ass off.
Even tho I'm a Padres fan, I always loved Lasorda. RIP Tommy, Baseball will miss you!
I’m a died hard NY Yankee and UCLA fan, but I hope Tommy Lasorda, Jim Healy, and Billy Martin are playing cards in heaven. R.I.P. Tommy L.🙏🏼
don't forget Vin.
What are they drinking/smoking?
And Earl Weaver.
And Chickey Baby!
"The Lakers couldn't put a pea in the ocean tonight!"
You died and left this comment from beyond the grave?
A classic, if profane moment in baseball commentary and analysis. Mr. Lasorda was always entertaining and quotable, if you were willing to find ways around the off-color stuff. He orchestrates, starting slowly, and engaging in the classic crescendo of rhetorical geniuses. You go, Mr. Lasorda, you go.
RIP Tommy. “Dodgers stadium was his address, but every ballpark was his home.”
Not my house he wasn't. Go Giants!
Another classic Lasorda moment. This is really hilarious. Tommy was one of a kind. Total legend. Classic old baseballer.
The way he starts off calm, explaining himself, then just blows these guys up! Awesome!
That one was a classic this is why Tommy Lasorda was and still is a boss! I had the pleasure of meeting him at a Dodger game and people think he is arrogant or brash. Saw him last night.
He's a grumpy old man now!!
RIP Tommy!
Anyone know whose face pops up on-screen during Lasorda’s 1st utterance of the word “c_ _ _ sucker?”
Thx for that Tommy...I have a follow up question, what do you think of Dave Kingman's performance?
😝😝😝😝😝 😁😁😁😁😁
Gus Levy he hit three goddam homeruns. How you think he feels😂😂
😂
😂😂
What do I think about Davy? Well Davey would hit water if he fell out a boat!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The problem with Tommy is he doesn't tell people how he really feels.
Definitely has trouble expressing his true feelings. 😂😂
He just sugarcoats everything. So annoying.
Rest in peace, Tommy! There will never be another one like you. 💙💙💙💙
Rest In Peace, Tommy. The baseball world will miss you ❤️
Love how Tommy gets more and more heated as he talks here lol
He was weak.
Loved the crescendo in his tone hahahahahahahahaha
Still one of the greatest clips ever. Lasorda rants are awesome.
I always have to back to this every once in a while. This is amazing
Besides being a lifetime Dodgers fan how can any baseball fan not love this guy ! The passion he had for the game ! The love for the team that he managed and this video is hysterical besides that he makes a very good point ! Rest easy Tommy 🙏🙏
He was easy to hate because he was a POS, as this clip demonstrates.
I had the priviledge and pleasure of attending Tommy LaSorda's 88 Birthday. A private affair downtown LA with a dozen or so others most of us Veterans. Rest in Peace Mr. Lasorda. Thanks for the memories.
Just gold. Pure gold. Thx Tommy this puts a huge smile on my face every time I hear it 💰💰😎😎
RIP Tommy.
One of the last old school baseball greats!!!
Unreal, never heard this until today. Rest in peace, Tommy.
"He couldn't hit water if he fell out of a boat". I don't even like baseball and I thought that was so funny. LOL that pay out is just too good.
LaSorda said this in 1982, Bull Durhan was 1988.
Today's music sucks!!!
you said it all man!!
You can't help but get the feeling Lasorda really wants to say more
but he's too classy for that.
Every part of that was beautiful. Enough vulgarity to be in a Scorsese film, and it was perfect.
What an effed up world that no longer allows people to express themselves, as they see fit, without suffering dire consequences. In other words, you could't do that today.
I lessen to this 3x in a row every morning to get me ready for my day ~ very inspirational
I just love saying Bevacqua
Funny that Bevacqua means Drink Water and Tommy mentioned about not being able to hit water if he fell out of a boat
lol
Marc Terry lmfao
"Yes Mister Bevalacqua"
Matthew Drinkwater
Thank you for sharing this terrific classic about this terrific guy. God bless everyone
In 1979 Kurt Bevacqua played in 114 games and hit one home run.
thats some shakespeare shit right there!
Just came from a Kurt Bevacqua interview after Tommy's passing. What a class act, sincerely from a long time Dodgers fan.
RIP TOMMY
As Giants fan who witnessed Lasorda blowing kisses at us at The Stick, RIP Tommy us Giants fans loved and respected you.
RIP Tommy. Thanks for all of the great memories.
Freedom of speech, and this stuff is priceless; I effin love it!!
This is awesome but the Dave Kingman rant was even better. I wish someone could find that
and post it!
***** And Bevacqua won how many world series?
***** No, it was your mom, but nice try
And Lasordas career in the majors lasted about 50 years while Bevacqua was around for about 10 minutes. Face it, if not for Lasordas rant the world would have forgotten about Kurt YEARS ago!

The late Jim Healy regularly used this as a sound bjt on his radio show in LA. With lots of bleeps.
+Janette McClelland Yup, Healey was more timeless even than these clips. And they were actually even funnier with all the bleeping. Weekdays 5:30 to 6:00 have never been the same since the dreaded 6:00 tone sounded for the last time.

marty katz Which always had my mom rolling on the floor in laughter. She became a Healy fan because of that clip.

I have to admit I am a Padre fan but I fucking love Tommy. Rest in peace. In my opinion the best manager baseball has ever seen
Had to come back here to one of my favorite Tommy moments. Well miss you Tommy! RIP
Classic, and he is right about bevacqua.
Cubs fan here and I enjoy listening to Tommy's rants! RIP Tommy.
Love those old time managers! 🤣🤣🤣😂
0:55 AHHHAHAAA !! LOVE Lasorda !! GREAT !!
Don’t hold back, Tommy; tell ‘em how you really feel.
Can you imagine Tommy and Earl Weaver in an argument? 🤣🤣🤣
RIP Tommy, blue heaven on earth will surely miss your presence.
I love how diplomatic it starts and how quickly it escalates lolllll
One of the greatest, honest direct statements of all times. Forget the cliches and niceties, this is what is missing today.
RIP Tommy. I come to this vid every once in a while when I need a laugh.
IMHO, that was the best Tommy Lasorda quote ever !
RIP Mister Lasorda. You will be forever missed !
DODGER BLUE FOREVER !!!!!!
Skip sent me here and I’m not even angry😂

RIP Tommy. You're a legend
I come back and listen to this all the time. It’s my favorite UA-cam video. I don’t even follow baseball. This is what the internet was made for.
Not a Dodger or Lasorda fan, but that was #*@!^#&@(*$^$ funny. :)
I'm a Padres fan and I love this
RIP Tommy. Always a legend to me.
PLEASE bring back guys like this…. That’s a Real Man.
Legend has it that Lasorda’s words will be etched onto Bevacqua’s grave stone.
R.I.P Tommy!!! Thanks for the memories! Enjoy the pearly gates of Dodger heaven!!!!
This and the Lee Elia Cubs fan rant are the greatest in baseball history. Always good for a laugh.
RIP to the GOAT. The original Big Time Tommy. Much love from Dodger Nation 💙
The funny thing is, no matter what Bevacqua did in the majors (and it wasn't much) this is what he will be remembered for the most.
This and hitting a HR in Game 2 of the '84 World Series against the Tigers. At least my team won the series that year.
RIP Tommy! As soon as I heard I came to listen to this classic! 🤣😂
Guys like Tommy and Billy Martin are the game.!!
I listen to this at least once a year along with Earl Weaver's tirade at Bill Haller.
As a lifelong Cubs fan since 1976, I've always had the highest respect for not only the LA dodgers overall, but specifically Tommy Lasorda. You want "Genuine", Honesty, etc.??? Ask Tommy, you'll certainly get it!! R.I.P. Tommy
Omg It’s been years since I heard that rant, that was priceless. We love you Tommy.
God rest this beautiful mans soul.
Amen
How about the fact that not one word of Lasorda's tirade addressed fat shaming or his ethnicity being cited?
Rip to a legend 🙏🏼
AWSOME I'VE LOVED IN LA MY WHOLE LIFE AND HAVE ALWAYS HEARD OF THESE ITS SWEET THE FINALY HEAR EM. YOU TELL EM TOMMY!!!!!!!!!
RIP Tommy 🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽 one of the greatest personalities in baseball
my dad showed me this video a long time ago when i first started getting into baseball & the dodgers…love you dad and tommy R.I.P both 💙🤍 we bled dodger blue together
That rant would make your favorite rapper blush lol
one of my new favorite sound bytes. more than a little supprised im just hearing this in 2013 for the first time
Started off very mellow.... The progression was very nice
You could hear the gears turning, as he contemplated whether or not to just go all-in. "Nor will I ever...(fuck it, hold my beer)."
Don't mess with an Italian, cause he'll tear you a new one! Tommy was one of a kind. That man wasn't playing when he said one time after a hospital stay that when they drew his blood, he bled blue! RIP, Tommy. You're finally in true blue heaven!☝️💙
I always thought Jim Breuer doing Joe Pesci doing Lasorda interviews would be comedy gold
This is quite possibly the most underrated video on the internet.
Tell us how you really feel, Tommy!
