Marching With The Fife & Drums Tivoli Youth Guard On Inauguration Day Of The New Season: March 23, 2018
Tivoli Gardens, Copenhagen, March 2018
The Tivoli Gardens Youth Guard was established the same year Tivoli Gardens opened for the first time in 1844! The musical formation began in 1909 and has continued til today. Today up to 100 boys aged 8 to 16, with an average of less than 13, are a mini copy of the Danish Royal Guard. Each year 12 to 20 are enrolled to replace those leaving. They are schooled for one year in classical as well as in military music, before participating in the marches through the gardens and in Tivoli's Concert Hall in Tivoli, as well as through the streets of Copenhagen, and abroad on special occasions . Tivoli has it own Music school where these boys are intensively trained and prepared to continue their musical carreer when they leave at age 16.
