John Starling , duet vocal and acoustic guitar
Emmylou, an ethereal voice that melts my heart.
Emmylou brings a different depth to this wonderful song. She has a wonderful way of taking a song and making it hers. Beautiful music from some outstanding musicians, which always seem to surround Emmylou.
Emmy not only has the most sensational voice but has the innate ability to sing any song to perfection. Cannot stop listening to her. She is the queen of country and can sing anything with a deep passion. Even her backing harmony is another level and lifts the song to a different level.
Very true on all points.
simply great!!
“An old five and dimer is all I intended to be.” RIP Billy Joe Shaver

Billy Joe wrote this song in 3/4 time. Heard Waylon do it like this too. Still works for me.

Beautifully don by a beautiful Lady
Two great artists singing a very relaxing song.
A lovely song beautifully sung by an amazing artist, but i would never describe Emmylou as an Old Five and Dimer'. Waylon possibly!
Sempre straordinaria Emmilou
Au paradis, les anges doivent avoir votre voix et chanter d'aussi belles chansons accompagnées de Mister Cash sinon ce ne serait pas le paradis...
If I had a choice of a person to sit and talk with for an hour, it would be Emmylou.
Beautiful.
Pochi accordi, molte emozioni❤🎉
Happy Birthday Emmylou -- two days ago!
Angelic!
Wow!, just Wow! God had a real good day when he made this voice.
Thanks!
p coffey I'm with you there
I agree. Emmylou is one of my favourite country singers but if I'm honest I prefer Waylon Jenning's version of this particular track. He just seems to make it 'live'for me.
After creating Emmylou God might as well have retired.
Dosen't get any better!
Super upload Waldo.....Mike

....anyone else out there actually remember what the "old five and dime" was? Yup...I'm an old "five and dimer"!
Billy's is the best.
@pecvillian You're welcome....glad you liked it.
I've spent a lifetime making up my mind to be
More than the measure of what I thought others could see
Good luck and fast bucks are too far and too few between
For Cadillac buyers and old five and dimers like me
She stood beside me letting me know she would be
Something to lean on when everything ran out on me
Fenced yards ain't hole cards and like as not never will be
Reason for rhymers and old five and dimers like me
It's taking me so long and now that I know I believe
All that I do or say is all I ever will be
Too far and too high and too deep ain't too much to be
Too much ain't enough for old five and dimers like me
Yeah, an old five and dimer is all I really meant to be
fenced yards aint ...HOLD cards, not ...hole cards
an old five and dimer is all i .......?intended"///// to be
Top that
Would have loved hearing this with WJ or willie! /Wow\
Waylon did a cover of this song. I like Billy Joe's Austin City Limits version best, Then Jerry Jeff''s
Try Jerry Jeff walker’s version
nice one ( tom t hall tune right ?
Wayne Farrell NO Willie Nelson
(written by Billy Joe Shaver)
a tiny little bit too slick but otherwise just truly enjoyable
