    Y’know how UA-cam is full of “tree climbing fail” videos….this is a great way to be included in one of them!

      What a dumb logic , UA-cam is full of car accidents also, so driving is a great way to get in that club ?

    • @johns3106

      @@TheCrazyRomanian If your driving was at the same relative level as your tree climbing skills…YES!…it would be a great way to get into that club! If you were driving a car with no brakes, poor steering, a cracked windshield, doing 80mph in heavy traffic, all while drunk, then yeah, driving is a great way to get into a car accident video. I’ve been an arborist for 30 years, and have seen “amateurs” do lots of dodgy stuff…your skill level combined with that janky gear is a great way to temp fate! I hate to see people try to do something that they think is “easy” ( when, really, they don’t even know enough to know they don’t know enough) and end up hurting themselves, someone else, or damaging property. Those of us who do this for a living know our own limits, the limits of our gear (which is magnitudes more safe than yours) and (through training and experience) what to expect when we’re up there. And, if you’re putting yourself on UA-cam for the whole world to see, you gotta expect some criticism!

      That's just an assumption the fact that he's held by zip ties is the protection that it's meant not to scratch your foot but the metal bar is where you're standing that's that part is not help by zip ties so having an eye to look for things that cannot jeopardize safety it's a skill that some people don't have and apparently you don't you jump to conclusion too fast

    It won't come off your legs if the zips breack I'm sure. I would change them out every yr. Or stich them together or rivet what have you.
    Cheapest used sets I can find are around 50-100$ and would need new leather and spicks or reshaped.
    Think I'll get me a pair of these!

  • @squarepegman
    @squarepegman Рік тому +3

    I bought a pair of those spikes. They suck. The problem is that the double points keep your foot fixed so it can't pivot, which is hard on the knees and is the reason you were so worn out afterward. I'm ditching mine for a pair of real arborist gaffs. They're expensive, but there's no way I'm wearing myself out and risking my neck doing all the work I need done with this Chinese version. It's risky enough being 50' up when you're comfortable and secure; these things just make it ridiculous and dicey. I could see it if I had your one tree with no branches, but any significant volume of work is rendered way too strenuous with marginal equipment like this.

    If the tree isn’t being removed don’t spike up it, I’m not sure how palms behave because they’re technically grass but actual trees really do not like long metal spikes going into them 😂

    Dont anyone do this to prune a tree, the only time you use spikes is on a full dismantle. The tree now has a wound for every single step he has taken.

    You are climbing wrong which is probably why you were so tired. Try keeping your legs extended, bring you foot up and jab into tree while continuing to lean back some. You don’t have to climb it like a ladder. The way you bent your legs so far uses far more energy to lift yourself.
