- During an interview with Oprah Winfrey in Michigan, Vice President and Democratic presidential candidate Kamala Harris addressed gun ownership and violence, stating, "If somebody breaks into my house, they're getting shot." She added that both she and her running mate, Tim Walz, are gun owners. Harris later remarked, "Probably should not have said that." Winfrey highlighted the issue of gun violence, noting that 383,000 children have been exposed to it. Actresses Meryl Streep and Julia Roberts also joined the conversation via live link. The discussion comes ahead of the November 5 presidential election, where Harris rebutted claims from Donald Trump that she would confiscate guns.

No one teaches gun safety and proper use.... yall going at it all backwards. We have guns. Teach people about them. Allow gun owners to carry more. Media NEVER shows when guns PREVENT ACTS OF TERROR. My family has owned guns for generations. None of us have accidentally or purposely hurt another outside of self defense. Because we teach our kids morals AND gun safety.

@@westtxmutt As Vice-President, she comes under the President, not equal or above him. When the bipartisan bill she introduced came for a vote, Trump decided to not have his senate members support it and so it was not approved on account of Trump.
