I’m really glad Mora’s redesigns of Robin and Aqualad came up this interview, they’re so good and modern, yet so classic feeling! Very excited for more World’s Finest and Waid’s future projects.
As for Boy Thunder, I spent a lot of time trying to predict who he would be, and man I was so off lol.
Leave to Mark Waid to always stay to the roots of what makes superhero comics great for multiple decades.
I like that waid called DC comics home. His best work has always been at DC

Considering his sensitivity in the past I have hard time believing he would like back issues. The guy doesn’t exactly take criticism well.
The final page of World’s Finest absolutely blew my mind and I rewatched the Kingdom Come episode. I went back to check if that scene lines up even though I knew it would which is just insane.

Thank you for this, Sal - great as always! About time DC allowed more input from Mark as he really knows the characters and how to craft a story - only downside is that I was thinking of quitting new comics and Mark, Tom Taylor on Nightwing and Chip Zdarsky are messing up that plan 😜

It’s been so much fun watching Shadow War and World’s Finest converge and integrate with Monkey Prince now. One of the reasons I love shared universe comics done well.

My favorite Mark Waid story was when he made fun of Crossgen comic’s CEO’s dead wife when the company went under. Tells you all you need to know about the guy.

Yes, the Earth Prime Magog was the great-grandson of Franklin Delano Roosevelt. Boy Thunder isn’t the same character and is from a parallel Earth that then becomes the Kingdom Come Magog.
Honestly, Mark Waid is really putting DC back on the map with his incredible writing and the artists he's working with!
Wow... I guess I need to hop onto World's Finest. I haven't read World's Finest or Batman-Superman since the New 52.

In spite of everything revealed here, Magog's origin story in the JSA book is still canon, right? "Every story matters."

That was from Geoff Johns and Alex Ross where it’s not the same Magog. That was also part of the point where the Kingdom Come Superman came to Earth Prime in that JSA run and the Earth Prime Magog is not the Kingdom Come Magog. Kingdom Come Superman was worried about the Earth Prime Magog. David in World’s Finest as Boy Thunder is established to be from a parallel Earth where we don’t know the designation so he’s not the same character as the one from the JSA run.

Engagement and interaction with creator to please the mathemagics that choses what gets seen or not.
I really didn't feel Batman vs Robin. The title was misleading in a bad way. It was really noticable that Waid was not actually interested in Bruce and Damian's relationship, Damian was just a plot device.
I'd say it wasn't the main focus, because it was a magical book first and foremost, but there are scenes where it works. Assuming you accept the premise. That said, others books will likely put more focus on the relationship between father and son.
I'm so happy Waid is back at DC. World's Finest is probably my favorite ongoing series this year. Batman vs Robin is a fun read too.

But is it possible, the plan is for Damian to give up the Robin mantle and be Ibn al Xu'ffasch from Kingdom come? Since the reveal in World's Finest?
He said 3 48 page issues. That is 144 pages. That’s a longer than a regular sized 6 issue trade at 120 pages since a normal issue is 20 pages. All we know when it comes to Ibn al Xu'ffasch is that he sided with Bruce over Ra’s al Ghul and in that continuity, he falls in love with Nightstar. At this point, we know Dick isn’t ending up with Starfire and having a child.

@@comicpopreturns I'm not familiar with boy thunder or any of the current DC really but going back to Magog is a really neat idea, I always thought kingdom come was underrated in modern times. I was born in 94 so way back when it was always talked about and lauded as an amazing story but in the late 00's/early 2010's you stopped hearing about it, not to mention you never saw the characters from it. I really hope they explore that world more, maybe like the lead up
@@TickleMyNonos Kingdom Come is certainly not underrated, but hasn’t been talked about as much the last 10 years like any great story that people don’t bring up all the time. You had The Kingdom with Waid’s involvement which Alex Ross was against and then Thy Kingdom Come with Alex Ross and Geoff Johns in that JSA run. Absolutely read World’s Finest. Knowing who Boy Thunder is now makes Kingdom Come more interesting with Superman’s relationship with Magog.
