With AI, I figured out if you set every driver setting the same and have a wide spread overall difficulty, it makes it closer to racing with real people.
Honestly knew none of these..but I'm going stick with the Malone classic of "Qualifying is for Practice" and after that.."show em you're crazy", love the content Matt
Really? You don't learn the track and then work on running the opposite line against your self? I always do that. I can tell you at darlington I can not run the bottom in 1 and 2 at all.
This video should be mandatory viewing for anyone new to iRacing. I've used the opposite line technique for awhile, and it's very obvious that many don't. Open practice is not for hot lapping, and that's why so many rookies blame others for their own mistakes. Subscribed.
Matt, New Sim racer here. I can't overstate how helpful these are man. Thanks so much for this quality upload. Driving Fast is Deceptively hard. I know just enough about SIM Racing to be Dangerous lol. But I tell you the truth when I say, this hobby has its hooks in me BAD!!! I'll get quicker employing these methods. Thanks again man.. New Sub here!
That last one was a great idea, as I have been knocked out of some podium contentions because of off line mistakes. I also didn't know about the school test drives. I would stress cold tire practice as well, mainly because you have to be vigilant first lap against people who forgot their tires are cold.
Some excellent tips there Matt. I knew you could watch races but didn't know it was possible to ghost race so will have to try that one. It's nice to learn some new things. I think it's great that you younger guys take the time to help us old guys with racing. (Yes I'm older than you and still learning) Keep this great series of videos coming!
1 thing I learned: the school track thingie! One suggestion for practicing if you're doing multiclass racing, join some highly populated practice sessions. It's a great help in figuring out where to pass if you're a faster class, where you might get passed if you're a slower class, etc.
Hey Matt !!! I waited over 12:00 minutes for a pro to come on here to tell us some tips... What happened??? a no show? 🤣😂🤣😂🤣😂 Great video... Thanks... 💗💗💗💗💗
These were really amazing, Matt! Just switched from a belt wheel to DD, and it's like I'm a rookie again. I can't seem to keep the car on the track anymore. I'll use these for sure.... Thanks for all your great videos and banter!
I like having the previous lap delta up as well, especially in cars where tire management is important such as the V8 Supercars or if you're practicing race stints.
Great video. Several I had not tried and will do so ASAP. Another tip for going faster is iRacing's new feature that allows one to set a start point on a lap and reset to that spread, track position etc. at the push of a button. Can't remember what it's called, unfortunately.
I never knew about the Watch / Ghost spot. That will be so crucial for me, I like to practice pretty good with AI before any race I'm not familiar with, but this will take out the worry of not learning anything from the AI procession. Get to see overtaking opportunities, troublesome corners, where punts will take place ect. This for me is a gamechanger. Thank you!!!
killin it with these tips Malone! the only tip I got is to watch MattMalone stream iRacing Tuesdays through Thursdays plus Sundays on Twitch for more tips about iRacing with MattMalone on his stream on Twitch in the iRacing category where MattMalone shares more tips about iRacing
I was sure I'd seen Matt suggest the first tip before. I couldn't remember how to do it. Matt and UA-cam read my mind as only yesterday I was thinking about this!
I always wondered what the school track was. I figured it was what it is, but never bothered to load into it. Thanks for highlighting that--will have to use it going forward!
Personally being completely green in iRacing I am loving these small tips. At least 3 or 4 of these will be tried out tomorrow. Thanks Matt. Loving the content. The jumping into races already started and the practicing opposite lines will be used. Thanks again
Genuinely one of the most helpful tips vids ive come across. Not the same regurgitated bullsh!t about trail braking better and etc - thanks and subbed for more content!
I don’t even own Iracing and watch your video. It’s more entertaining than nascar and I even found this video super entertaining and interesting. Joining an ongoing race with no consequences is really cool!
Love the Ghost/watch/race option. Had no idea about this and as a new iracer this is brilliant. I'll see you in the Bathurst 12hour Matt! granted you won't see me ;) at least i can practice a special event rather than wreck everyone.
With AI, I figured out if you set every driver setting the same and have a wide spread overall difficulty, it makes it closer to racing with real people.
I never knew you could join a race as a complete ghost car. That’s insane. Thanks Matt!!
Honestly knew none of these..but I'm going stick with the Malone classic of "Qualifying is for Practice" and after that.."show em you're crazy", love the content Matt
hahhah! love that! so true
Opposite line practice is something I would have never even thought of doing. Thanks Matt!

Dude, I fully expected to hear the normal hogwash, but these tips were actually awesome and different. Thanks, Malone!
Omg, that "School config" track layout is amazing, I wish they did that for more tracks. Would make hopping onto a new track and learning much easier
You can turn on a racing line for I believe all tracks, but that obviously has its downsides.

Great video... Thanks... 💗💗💗💗💗
U should of kept watching! There was another 57 secs!
Matt I have been on iracing over 10 years and still enjoyed this video. Informative and entertaining!
I had no clue about those school configs... thats actually really helpful. Cheers Matt!
These were really amazing, Matt! Just switched from a belt wheel to DD, and it's like I'm a rookie again. I can't seem to keep the car on the track anymore. I'll use these for sure.... Thanks for all your great videos and banter!
Ghost car offset... just what I was looking for! Thanks Matt
This was wildly helpful! Thanks buddy
I've been iRacing since 2008. I'm not even through tip #1 and I've learned something new. Thanks!
I like having the previous lap delta up as well, especially in cars where tire management is important such as the V8 Supercars or if you're practicing race stints.
Wow, great stuff, thanks Matt. Never knew some of this stuff.
Great video. I race ghost car's a lot but never knew about the offset. Thanks!
Ghost car offset probably the best tip for me. Thank you!
This absolute gem of a video has been up almost a year and I discovered it now. Thank you for the great tips!
Great video. Several I had not tried and will do so ASAP. Another tip for going faster is iRacing's new feature that allows one to set a start point on a lap and reset to that spread, track position etc. at the push of a button. Can't remember what it's called, unfortunately.
That second feature is awesome. Will be joining on going races more often
Matt, I've been on iRacing for 4 years and all of this (with the exception of AI) I had no idea existed! Thanks so much man!

This might be a year old, but it’s fantastic! Thank you so much Matt!
I always wondered what the school track was. I figured it was what it is, but never bothered to load into it. Thanks for highlighting that--will have to use it going forward!

this is actually useful vid compared to the other "duh, just go faster" sim practice vids, kudos mr malone
First video of yours I’ve stumbled upon. I had to sub! Thanks for the excellent tips! I’m a NASCAR guy but I can apply these to it as well.
Great idea with the race starts, thank you! 👍
Genuinely one of the most helpful tips vids ive come across. Not the same regurgitated bullsh!t about trail braking better and etc - thanks and subbed for more content!
Tbh this video blew my mind 😂 these are just the tips I needed

Genuinely good tips. Great content.
Wtf! That ghost race feature is unreal! I'd LOVE to go into a top split race and try and keep up, watch lines, etc. Awesome tip 👌

Been doing iRacing for about 3 years now. Never even knew they had a ghost car for test drive...
This was honestly great advice!
These are phenomenal tips. Thanks so much, sub’d.

Really good stuff. Thank you.

Really useful 👍, and some fine slippers too!
Thanks, they seem like some really good tips. I’ll give them a go.
I can't believe I'm just finding this now, hilarious. But very helpful
I think the best part about this video, is Matt in slippers instead of his driving shoes
Great stuff as always,Matt! Let’s take time to appreciate the shoes you are wearing while racing, love it!
Ghost car offset! Thank you!!!!
Awesome stuff Matt ❤️
The tips are great, and your delivery is perfect.
Wow, those are awesome tips! Subscribed. Thanks!

Love the Ghost/watch/race option. Had no idea about this and as a new iracer this is brilliant. I'll see you in the Bathurst 12hour Matt! granted you won't see me ;) at least i can practice a special event rather than wreck everyone.
Hey Matt really enjoy the video's, one thing I have not been able to find is a listing of the most used road tracks on iracing.
Excluding free :)
Great vid Malone! Really enjoying these vids
iRacing has so many features - just like the school layouts, but they dont explain it easy enough for noobs to know what to do, or why to use it.
VERY informative. Thanks Matt.
#2 is insane. sooo awesome
Useful info, thanks !
Oh my god I can use tip 2 for my friends that want to race. Like handing your brother a controller that’s not plugged in
Some very helpful tips there Matt thanks 🏁
Great tips thanks so much
Thanks Matt. Great video once again 👍
Great Tips👍 especially the last one
Very useful, thank you
Keep up the good content. These are def tips from a 10 year iracer not just a sim racer

Thats a cool feature! Matt where can I find some of the premium racing slipers you have on? :) LOL I like them!
Good tips Matt!
Amazing tips, thx.
Love the Moccasins...
Thank you, sir, for this!
This is great information, thanks for posting!
Awesome video, I didn't know most of these things! For the Watch/Ghost/Spot, are you still able to pick up tow from the real drivers?
Yup!
Great tips Matt....very useful!
