"NIÐAVELLIR is the home of the Dwarfs and the song tells the story of their clan lying down to rest in their cave. The floor is clean, plenty of space for everyone and Náinn sings for the rest of them. Niðavellir is a good place to spend your days, play, work and rest. The Dwarfs are happy.
The video was shot on the North East coast of Iceland, close to where we grew up. This paradise is called Bjargarkrókur, a location we used for our recent promo shoot. One take without too much thought put into it and the six of us really hearing the final product for the first time. What you read from our faces is what we actually feel. "
A stunning and winding trip through Norse mythology awaits on Vögguvísur Yggdrasils - and the best travel guides are and will always be Reykjavik-based Viking metallers SKÀLMÖLD!!! They already proved on three albums (the latest effort being Með Vættum in 2014) that they`re rather well-versed when it comes to Odin and his lot, but now the Icelandic sixpiece delves into the Nine Worlds from Muspellsheim (fire) to Nifelheim (ice) - all held together by world tree Yggdrasil. The perfect backdrop for the fifth longplayer by these genre heavyweights that smoothly moves from highly melodic and epic Viking metal to picturesque folklore. Odin owns ye all!

Hel's power, captured in the deep valley.
Pitch-black darkness (nearly), in the golden hall.

Being enthroned on flinty bedrock,
the peaks of high mountains.
Sindri and Hergill take a nap;
the gray dwarves sleep here.

THEY ARE, once i was feeling down because i missed a concert they had in my country, and my girlfriend wrote to them about the situation and they wrote her back, telling her that they were glad to have a fan in the caribbean, Snæbjörn even sent a selfie doing the sign of the horns... If i was a big fan of their stuff then i am even more so now

Honestly, I think it goes along with the vibe of the song. This is a viking band, after all, and Icelandic is quite possibly the closest we'll ever get to treditional Norse in this day and age.
It's a great song and the words are very cool as well. It is a pitty that very few people understand them :o)
I*m norwegian, and with a little help from my icelandic friend Nõkkvi i can read and understand the lyrics. Same with the song 'heima' from Skàlmöld.
It's too much for me. Funny thing is that I can sometimes make out the meaning of lyrics in Faroese, but Icelandic is beyond me. But it still sounds great, even if I have to look it up.
if I can learn to sing along with Rammstein, I can learn to sing along with Skálmöld. Till Valhalla!!!
Imo learning Icelandic is slightly easier because it s more regular. there are exceptions too, but overall less than in German. And the writing system makes more sense in my opinion and is more phonetic

@Prototyp_devense yea german is not easy but i think iceland is way harder simply bc all the words are special, for example if i compare french to spanish they are similar but icelandic has something special
