I had both of these beers back in the 1970's in rural Kentucky in the USA. Heineken was in the cooler at the restaurant I worked at in high school. Being that age, I would sneak into the walk in cooler and chug (steal) a Heineken before walking back into the 100 degree F kitchen to wash dishes. Later in the decade, we would drive seven miles south to Tennessee from my college (which was in those days in a DRY county) to get beer. We would get a bottle of Grolsch in the those bail top bottles for the drive home, and a six pack of Weidemann. We would drink the Grolsch ($1.50) on the way home, and the cheap Weidemann $1.70 a six pack) later.
Love your channel. You got me on the finger snap intro, and the Responsible outro.

Overall, I like Grolsch more than Heineken, in fact I recently purchased a 4 pack of the flip top bottles. I remember my roommate and I having a half dozen or so Pony Kegs of Heineken in our apartment back in our early 20's circa, '88-'91. Once I met my future wife and she moved in then I was forced to throw them in the recycler bin, lol. I think Grolsch was not readily available in Milwaukee back then but unsure of that.

The barcode says 731... that is a countrycode. The swedish. Sweden has 730 to 739.
    Holland has 870-879.

Did a tasting of my own along with the video. Is it just me, or are many macro-breweries upping their game? not that either are spectacular, but I remember them tasting way worse.

I’m not sure - it’s usually the opposite they say. 😁
Ones palette also changes over time.
For me, since I started learning more about taste and aroma, it’s more interesting to drink macro lagers again.
Why are they so popular? How do they compare to craft beer, or even “bad” mass produced beer?
Actually analyzing them makes the experience more enjoyable, and I always learn something new.

I prefer Grolsch over Heineken as to me It’s less sweet. Hertog Jan is my favourite Dutch pilsner.

I need to try Hertog Jan, sadly not available in Sweden right now. I've bought their tulip glass though, a good start! 😊

It's funny how you practised how to pronounce Grolsch but not Heineken, which you pronounced it as though it was a German beer HAI-neken. It's pronounced Heineken.

Nice beers when going out with your mates, since they’re both easy to drink pilsners. But as you already said nothing special and maybe even a little bit missing an outspoken character

Agreed, really sessionable - especially with some nuts or other bar snacks.

I like Heineken, but fear I'm in the minority. Here in the UK if you get the small cans they're Dutch brewed, but the others are contract brewed in Edinburgh.
