  • This is maybe the most underrated Fujifilm budget lens you can find. This lens is great for travel because it has a nice zoom range and it is compact and lightweight. It can also be a great option for beginner street photographers. In this video I test the Fujifilm XC 15-45mm on my Fujifilm X-T5 and X-E4.

I have both the 18-55mm kit lens and the 15-45 (also a kit lens actually, but I got this one separately) for my X-T30II, and I prefer the 15-45 because it's lightweight, smaller than the 18-55 and produces great results. the size factor is very important for me. Thanks for providing your great channel - great input in very good presentation. Hola!

Very well put review of this lens. I got a fujifilm x-t100 with 2 kit lens, and one of the lns was this xc-15-45mm. Years later I upgraded to fujifilm x-t4 and few prime and zoom lenses. When I am not shooting professionaly and I am traveling for leisure then my goto kit is x-t100 with xc 15-45mm just for its compact size and light weight and also not drawing too much attention looking like a regular tourist when I am shooting with this nifty kit. Specially if you goto your friend's family's weddings when there are professional photographers you dont want to be looking like one of their members, this kit helps me separate from the rest.

This is the lens that I started with. I don't use it as often anymore, but for a kit lens this has always blew me away in its image quality. Very portable and reliable. Mines came in black but I really want to get one in silver to match my silver XT30.

Great suggestion. That's a really useful focal length range to have as a backup for street and travel photography, for a very low price.

Great video. Who needs an X-100V or VI when you’ve got an X-E4 and one of these little bad boys. Sharp as a tack over most of the frame over the wider focal lengths, and, as you say, so inexpensive second-hand that you don’t have to worry about the lack of metal and build quality. The disposable razor of kit lenses.

This lens on my X-T2 makes the perfect travel combo. I have some high end Fuji glass but this little sucker gives much better results than It’s price tag would suggest. Just get one. ☝️

The most underrated Fuji lens in my opinion is the 16-50 XC F3.5-5.6. The optical quality is great for little money, and it has a range that wins over the zooms which starts with 18mm. And it has a great OIS performance. And I have used it in desert and seasides, it survived all the harsh weather, even though it is not a WR labeled lens. This 15-45 although is similarly good in optical quality, but it’s a pain to use for photo shoots.

Your photos look fantastic. Would never have guessed they were taken on such an inexpensive kit lens. That 15mm has to be very handy in the city. The 18-55 is just to tight for some shots. Thanks for making this review.

It is a relief to get back to the 15-45mm after a time lugging around the 16-80mm f/4 I bought as a kit. Brilliant lens but just a bit too bulky for me. Worth buying the 16-80 as a kit just to try it and it is good value as such. I did have the 15-45mm before but then went over to m43 as that seemed the only place for IBIS and Fuji had said it was impossible for them! Back to Fuji now with an X-S10 and was expecting the usable range to be 15-30mm for the lens from reviews where test image 30mm crops were better than 45mm. However I am finding in practice at f/8 the 45mm does resolve more than 30mm. Great little lens and far more discrete. The power zoom also seems usable so I suspect the 16-80 is not going to be used and will get some money back in the bank. I do hope they keep making the 15-45 as it is a neat little package. The problem over the years with mirrorless in general is that it has been work in progress and Fuji at last seem to have sorted things out with stabilisation, video and touch screen response.

Not only photos, you can also take good video with it, and it keeps quite well the focus when zooming in and out (not all the range) so, it's a great lens for travel.

I've had my 18-55 glued to my camera (first an X-T20, then an X-T5) for 90% of my photos. I picked up the 15-45 to make my X-T20 a lightweight, take anywhere camera. After shooting with it for a couple of weeks, I really like the images from it. I took a two week trip to the UK and left the 18-55 at home. Saved myself a decent amount of size and weight but don't feel like I sacrificed anything from an image quality standpoint. Great lens for the money. This one will be in my bag or on my camera almost all the time.

The XC 35mm f2 is another lens that should get more consideration. Just as cheap and with the same optical performance of the XF version. Would be nice to have your review.

    Ha ha!
I just bought this lens 2 months ago to fit into the XM-1 I bought because of YOUR recommendation video... 😊
I was originally going for the XT-1
You're absolutely correct, it's great as a starter lens to decide the correct focal...
I'm using more at the wide end than telephoto...
Only down side is, you've no idea what your focal length is until you review your photos...
    No markers on the lens..
I've got to guess a short quick turn of the ring will jump from 15 to approx 23mm for example.
    It kind of works 😂
I guess the best thing is the weight.
    Really handy to carry!

I also have the X-E2 with the XC 35mm and TTA 27mm. I may have to order this 15-45mm for wider shots. Coming from a Canon camera, I don’t mind adjusting aperture with the rear wheel. XC lenses are a great bargain.

I am a big fan of this lens. It is at times surprisingly good. I have a couple of primes (XF80 macro, XF30 macro, XF56 1.2 original) and I used to have the 18-55 2.8-4... but I sold that Zoom with my X-T1 years ago. My most commonly uses lenses now for general stuff are (surprisingly) the XC15-45 and the XF18-120 - both are PZ zooms, and very lightweight for what they offer. I much prefer the 18-120 over the 16-80 ƒ/4 that I had actually. Strange. It's good that we have options. :)

I tested out the XF 16 2.8 on a trip to Hawaii last year. I absolutely loved the focal length and the image quality. I almost kept it, but decided to return it in favor of the 15-45. Cheaper, lighter, smaller, and just as good at the wide end. It’s a no brainer.

I recently purchased an excellent kit: X-A1 + XC 15-45 for only $ 190. It is ideal for ordinary photography, which does not require fast focusing and difficult conditions. The quality of the images is not inferior to the XT 3, and the new noise reduction in Lightroom makes the difference between the old camera and the top-end device negligible.
