I met Matt on one amazing night. He did a concert at Bowery ballroom. Then at another show he came into the crowd and played fine art of falling apart. I was right shoulder to shoulder with him as he sang and played. I'll never forget it. He's a True artist.
+Emmit643 completely agree. This was far and away my favourite demo, and I think this is a particularly strong Matthew Good song. I added this demo to the album on my playlist. Perhaps it's just a little out of step from the rest of the album, but hopefully it'll find it's way to a future compilation.
the song and the lyrics, your voice give me the chills. it's so raw and beautiful - except the last verse. most of the song is an angry cry of a deep routed pain and sadness; but the last verse feels like the works are even attacking me the listener; but still incredible nonetheless. hurt and anger sometimes make the best music because of their honesty. i have learned that sometimes we need to put things away for later. your friend, gary
We have done this before we will do it all again the kids in the corner are shaking and screaming "I am lightning that will be your undoing" we have been here before we have done this before and we will do it all again... We have fought here before we have lost here before when the fix was on winning there's rats in the corn breeding and eating the floor under your feet, all up and down your street busting down doors and dragging 'em we have been here before we have done this before and we will do it all again The cross we are, the dust where we begin the sun and the stars, the grated earth the canyons and the chords, the rusted seraphim the pronoun of the Lord, the grated earth Your body's lying everywhere post mortem, a warning to victims there are none that forswear believing for glass and golden prisons airships, we're leaving for somewhere in defence of feeding the business of freedom so shoot your birds and bees get down on your knees and get your smile working Well I know a place to hide you but don't you look back unless to remind you it's just a lie yeah, I know a place to hide you
please leave this up forever. its my fav and i cant find it anywhere else.

I'm still beyond heart broken that this is not making the cut on the record. Stellar track.

+Phillip Gordon I actually liked For and Against from those demos.

We were actually the underground railroad, that technically never stopped
We did it before, we will do it again. They've done it before, they will do it again.
Used to say this a lot a few years ago. 2020/21
Please say were leaving the comfort of my living room and a place to hide so he doesn't tear me to pieces in the back of a van
We have done this before
we will do it all again
the kids in the corner are shaking and screaming
"I am lightning that will be your undoing"
we have been here before
we have done this before
and we will do it all again...
We have fought here before
we have lost here before when the fix was on winning
there's rats in the corn breeding and eating
the floor under your feet, all up and down your street
busting down doors and dragging 'em
we have been here before
we have done this before
and we will do it all again
The cross we are, the dust where we begin
the sun and the stars, the grated earth
the canyons and the chords, the rusted seraphim
the pronoun of the Lord, the grated earth
Your body's lying everywhere
post mortem, a warning to victims
there are none that forswear believing for glass and golden prisons
airships, we're leaving for somewhere
in defence of feeding the business of freedom
so shoot your birds and bees
get down on your knees
and get your smile working
Well I know a place to hide you
but don't you look back unless to remind you it's just a lie
yeah, I know a place to hide you
Cool, some of these lyrics were used in the song Parts
