  • Antonio Sustiel came to the United States almost thirty years ago with $400 in his pocket. Now, he owns a $150 million global flooring empire, and you’ll learn how he built it in this episode.
    Click the link to learn how you could become a Wise Coating partner from the one and only ‘Floor Coating King’: bit.ly/floorcoatingking
    Flooring King isn’t Antonio’s first business. He built and sold a multi-million dollar perfume company, and used $100,000 from that sale to finance his new venture in the flooring business. In this interview, he’ll share how he spent that initial investment, and how someone with little money can get started in the flooring industry.
    Just like any empire, Antonio’s wasn’t built overnight. Flooring King opened its doors twenty years ago, and in that time he’s seen trends shift from wood flooring to laminate flooring, with a few stops in between. Waterproof flooring is his most popular and profitable seller today. In this interview, he’ll give newcomers to the industry a guide to floors, where to get the best products, and how to keep your costs low.
    A major driver of Flooring King’s growth has been their exceptional customer service. Antonio will share his secret to satisfied customers. We’ll also hear his best marketing strategies for bringing in new business and how he plans to grow from 9 locations to 350 in the coming years.
    There are tons of insights in this video, not just for people in the flooring business, but anyone who wants to build a million-dollar company. If you like this video, here are some more interviews you’ll want to watch:

      HD sold $9B in flooring in 2021, 6.2% of their sales. Lowes generally does about 25% less than HD in each department. Each HD store does around $50M total revenue, so around $3 Million in flooring per store (maybe thats what he was talking about?). • @A1KP
    @A1KP Рік тому +130

    The lies told here are insane.
    1. He buys most of his flooring from Europe and than says all of his flooring is made in USA...he says this the same sentence. None of this is true.
    2. He says he has better buying power than Home Depot & Lowes and sells more than both of them combined...Home Depot sells approximately $9 billion in 2021 and Lowes sold approximately $6 billion in 2021. This guy claims to have sold 18 million per year in this video. Unless my math is not right he's sold .1 percent of of what Home Depot and Lowes sell in a year.
    3. His buying power claim is nonsense. Flooring distributers sell 100,000s of skids a year per country to many stores. His claim of 4000 cases or containers is nothing in the grand scheme.
    4. He actually has to be getting his product from China and claiming its USA or European. To sell AND install vinyl for $2 and claim he's making 100 percent markup is nothing but lies as here is the math. The average cost to install vinyl is more then $1 per square foot nation wide. Typically its closer to $1.20-$1.40 per square foot. The cost of any half decent 5mm vinyl with attached pad is $1.25-$1.5 and that is coming from very good buying power. Say he can get it directly from the manufacture for $.50 he still has to ship it to USA, pay for transport from shipping yard, pay employee to offload into warehouse, pay for employee to inventory it, pay for employee to load and ship product and pay employee to load into home. All lies.
    5. There's clearly something not right here - guys like this are typically running a Ponzi like business or are up to their eyeballs in debt living interest payment to interest payment.
    6. The celebrity "endorsements" are actually him paying to give them flooring and him paying them to install it in what we would call paid endorsement
    7. He has bought and paid for his Instagram followers, likes and comments - his whole profile is fake and he claims that's how he gets his business.
    You've actually done a great job at exposing this guy. Where he got/gets his money from...it definitely isn't from flooring as he's giving away his product for free. I welcome Antonio to reply and refute any of my points.

    Just got out of the flooring industry… this dude is telling the same lies that everyone in the industry tells. No one gets crazy discounts compared to other flooring companies because the manufacturers want everyone to be able to compete in the market. If you buy in bulk, you might get 20-30 cents off per square foot on hard surface products. The “50% discount” because of buying power is the same crap everyone says. And 45%-50% gross margins are absolutely the norm in flooring. There’s nothing wrong with being honest and saying “hey my price isn’t always the highest or lowest, but you get me and you get my installers… we’ll bring the best value to you and we’ll be here for you down the road if you need us.” That assumes you have great reviews and really do have superior service. Despite popular belief, some of the best material really is made in China and Vietnam. We had a top tier manufacturer change their manufacturing from China to the U.S. and the product quality immediately dropped. If it works, don’t try to fix it.

    So he had another business he built on first, and despite burning up that money, still had some savings with which he bought an inventory of flooring to get started (his words). More detail about how he actually went from $50 to success would be nice.
    Also, can this guy answer any question AFTER the question is asked? He seems so eager to talk -- and talk over -- that it makes me feel strange.

    • @jkgv1740
      @jkgv1740 Рік тому +4

      That's probably a condensed version of his life. He's not going to give every detail of every turning point, or a detailed account of how he went from point A to point B. Not practical. I'd take hours. That said, I have to give it to him: he is a hustler. That shows in the way he talks. You need a bit of that in business or you won't make it. As long as he's keeping afloat, he's alright for me. Gave great general biz tips. Appreciated.

    • @akiyajapan
      @akiyajapan Рік тому +5

      @@jkgv1740 you know the word "hustler" can have a negative connotation, as well.
      Still, my point is that the video makes it look like he went from nothing to building this particular business ground-up but that's untrue. He apparently built this one AFTER the first business success and using funds he still had saved from that business. Skipping over that part of his life is NECESSARY and important information, and I know it's very possible to explain that within an acceptable time frame instead of spending so much time chatting about what his current business offers rather than HOW he got there. I never said anything about giving a "detailed, A to B," hours-long explaination of how he did it. That's nonsense. I know that you are well capable of getting the meat of the info from people like him and presenting that valuable insight to us viewers, rather than just letting him talk over you nonstop about what his business does. People are interested in how he got there and this video purports to do that --but doesn't. Ironically, it literally skips over the very thing we viewed for.
      Everyone has heard already about the "hustler" culture, or the motivational money guru style "YOU GOTTA HUSTLE IF YOU WANNA WIN" motto, but that's silly and useless without correct methods and right actions. What were his real actions? What steps did he take to build the supposed jewelry business? Don't tell me it's "he hustled" because that's a non answer.

    Im a flooring installer, 32 years at it. We installers keep the doors of every flooring shop open that installs flooring. Unless they just do retail. The problem with installers, is there is a lot of cut throats in this buisness. They do it cheaper. Most cases end up costing the Customer double because the job is screwed up. Not sure what you guys in south Florida get, but 15 years ago when I lived in Orlando.. it was a joke!

      Thank you for sharing your piece on the industry, Jody! It's very important to hear all sides of the story to help people planning to join the flooring industry. What are the key differences in the industry from when you started vs. now?

    • @19jody72
      @19jody72 Рік тому

      @@UpFlip The difference from 32 years ago to today is it's different as far as flooring material. Newer flooring coming out that is easier to work with. The carpet is better. The LVP(luxury vinyl tile) is the hot ticket right now. HOWEVER..I will say this.. It is "NOT" water proof! I have tore out 5 floors now with LVP that had the "water proof" LVP down, it buckled just like real wood does when it got wet!! I'm not sure where this water proof sales pitch is going to end up going in the future.. guess we shale see.👊🏼☕️
      I'd say someone getting into the installing side.of the buisness, if you can handle very hard work, lonng hours sometimes, heavy ass lifting, this could be the job for you. The pay scale is very good. Just don't try it down south..lmao.
      I clear average $2500 a week by myself easy. That's not a lot of hours either! Can't find help right now.. so I just work solo.
