@Machoman50tathere are addons that cost money. But the base game and most community servers are free. Also this much more reminds me of early squad than arma 2 modding
@Machoman50ta dude, the game is fully modifiable it give modders almost full access to the code to even make it into a whole new game if they wanted, so pretty much open source.
Awesome job blue drake labs, getting a realistic sound overhaul like EFT, stalker, or bodycam would be huge and really help to push this game to the next level. Can’t wait to see what y’all do!
Agreed, would be great to see the sound effects be overhauled. They should try getting Jarhead to do the SFX for them - the guy behind the JSRS mod series for Arma 2 and, notably, Arma 3.
If you want to take squad and he'll let loose players by storm, please invest more time into particle physicals such as bullet strikes on surfaces, explosions etc.If you actually think about it, the graphics in squad and squad 1944 are average, however the different particle and dust effects are unrivalled. They look realistic, and its immersive. HLL isn't as good but still pretty good. If you achieve this the tactical shooter would is yours.
And final advice: character animations would be far more smoother and authentic if another "side" of character starting (stand still) stance added. In most games, character model starts and ends move animation (e.g. running) withe the same foot (left) foot in the front, no matter what is going on. It greatly breaks immersion when watching models from external. Just add other side of stance, so that character can start and stop animation with other leg in front. See how it greatly works in Saboteur, Witcher 3 or Gloria Victis games.
I think an update to the AI would be amazing. In recent matches on dense forest maps with AI, i find that I’m being shot with significant accuracy through foliage that I can’t see through at all. Like 100 yards of thick trees and bushes. It feels like they can see me walking, as even as i move the shots follow me through the brush. An update to that would be amazing, because I genuinely love loading up a singleplayer match or two after work. Thanks for what you guys are doing! Super hyped for bipods, think it will make the machine guns feel so much better!
A common flaw in alot of games that have transparency maps for foliage. Simulating realistic human vision in AI is very challenging. There were a few Arma 3 mods that did this halfway decently, but they were very resource intensive in terms of CPU.
@@aaronmunn2918 I think the simple and best solution is to just make AI unable to see through bushes at all. Arma 3 does this by just having every bush and tree have big blocks of geometry in tree canopies and bushes that is invisible to the player, but visible to AI visibility raytests. It's a cheap and easy solution that, while not perfect, works pretty damn well.
This might be the update that transforms OHD into a proper team oriented tactical shooter. Hopefully the players respect the vision of the game and actually collaborate with each other because atm almost everyone in public servers is playing lone wolf.
i mean i can`t blame them, i think this update and maybe 2 more major updates with heavy focus on making it a team game will be enough to give players and myself a reason to play together.
@@TAHTAWYu64 I don't blame them either. The game is a good foundation but it is still pretty boring and it lacks good incentives for teamwork. I'm glad the dev team is sort of forcing the teamwork onto the players, that's how you foster a good playerbase. It's a painful process that takes time but eventually people learn to use mics and collaborate.
This is what happens when creativity outweighs profit. Indie devs like you guys will save this industry from itself. I can’t express how amazing this looks!
Bandage stopping bleeding is one of many bad mechanics of Squad. A bandage stopping bleed completely means lonewolf players can just bandage a single time after getting shot and just keep on being away from team/enemies. In PR people either have to find a medic to heal above bleed threshold, or pick up enemy's kits to heal up with their medical supplies, which means they either stick to team or have to get to the downed enemies and scavenge. That made a massive difference in team cohesion, as it made lonewolf gameplay much more risky. If you want to keep bandage in to stop bleeds, there should be a system that semi-permanently debuffs the player who got shot until he gets healed by medic. For example have stamina-dependent sway and cap the max stamina % to % current hp. Or have bandage only stop bleeding temporarily (for example 60-120s) so medic heal is still needed.
@@Bluedrake42 While you're at it; there's something wonky about AKs-74u top handguard, it should look more like the other AK with the smooth laminate(smooth at the top, shows some layers toward the bottom). Tarkov and Stalker2(they actually did it okay since COP) both did the handguard decently. Thanks.

Medical system update looks great, just add some incapacitated/pain animation like Opf: Dragon Rising have, and corresponding rewival animation, not so downed combatant after stim application simply "hoops" from the ground.
I love the passive stabilization as well. One of my favourite systems from Red Orchestra/Rising Storm series that doesn't get enough attention in other games. Great addition.

Since there had been no content about this game from either channel, and the servers appeared to be not as crowded I had thought this might be closing down. Glad to see it's still being worked on.
One small but important request - I'd like the option to replace the blur effect when aiming with amplified scopes with a black border. The blur effect is very taxing on lower end machines.
great news!! still think that the gunplay should get an update, if we want to compete with insurgency and squad, the gunplay and the guns animations and sound should be on point, really hope for that and the weapon customization for the future. (when the content that will be added is all working good for sure, no rush, just my opinion)
Please get the gunplay really similar to insurgency 2014. That game still has the darkest ambient gunplay ever. Game is terrifying. And bullet impacts taking some dust off of surfaces feature was awesome.

Sure there are mixed-front milsim games out there but pretty much none of them have managed to pull off naval support correctly since like, BF 1942 with wake island. Definitely keeping an eye out for the naval aspect of OHD as well as the modding scene! This update in general sounds amazing and will definitely draw more attention to the game, looking forward to it!
Ohd is such a great game it plays super well (like better than most triple a games) i do hope we get some wepon customization tho for those who want to replicate what we have seen in modern war even tho it wouldnt make sense for the older factions

This is quietly becoming the premiere milsim. It beats everything from Battlefield and CoD to Hell Let Loose and Squad. I only wish that I either had a PC capable of running this game or that the game were available on console.
Are you going to add bullet penetration? I think it would be super cool if bullets went through fences, thinner walls, etc.. and could potentially damage or kill you. Great work so far!!
This looks incredible I love this game. Incredible what you've managed to put together here with a semi-consistent community. The realism and fun factors are phenomenal with dope gun holding positions. Spawn points and vehicles are def needed (though mods have quenched that thirst for now) I really hope it continues to do amazing -- my only gripe is people running some servers being grimy and deleting vehicles when they're on the losing team because they don't like the fact that we have effective flanks or only printing attack choppers for their team lol I couldn't believe this kid. I hope more servers start to pop up, it made me uninstall after months of enjoyment. I've even played with you on Starship Troopers mod and we had a blast! Love the game and its one of the best games to just kick on and have a badass amazing time, this is filling a much needed hole in the industry

Wait if you making Ships. Please! Modders, make the gameplay where it taking place in Battle of Denmark Straight or Midway. Where you have to operates Battleships or Carriers. It would be amazing. Imagine working 100 players to operate a Bismarck.
Some "unnecessary" advice: add enviromental destruction. No, no full buildings destruction in Battlefield style, just look on old Path of Neo (I know, simple shooter) game- just some parts of walls and other objects fall off as a result of shooting/combat. It add authenticity to scene (being more and more "fatigued" during combat). Its how game could bring some more authenticity in low cost. Because in modern games battle rages on and e.g. building corners are still straight and sharp as raised yesterday. Six days in fallujah have some details like that, only limited to door frames (wooden door frames when shoot have some cracks, splinters). Cheers.

You do great job showing respect to gamers, developing game far more better than those "milisim" multiplayer only (oh that so much work, implementing A.I., lets just add some new weapons and there we are) lazy shit. Being gamer for 30 years, I consider as authentic "milisim" only Seal Team, Close Combat First to Fight and recent Six Day in Fallujah. Your game is already very fun platform for single player experience, just don't give up. Screw all haters!
