Can’t believe with how big a Svengoolie fan Mr. Last is and he misses one of Sven’s best episodes he runs every so often. Thankfully Mr. Cornette was able to talk about this All-Time Top 10 MUST SEE Comedy Classic for 6 minutes or so.
Turner Classic Movies has the TV rights to Ghost and Mr Chicken and airs it a lot. First time I saw it was on TBS back in the early 90s. Back when they showed classic horror stuff regularly
I saw it when I was 8. Two years after it came out. The scene with the clippers in the portrait really scared me. They also showed it at our school when I was in the seventh grade.
I love the Hammer Dracula movies. But another british dracula movie is starting to really grow on me is the one with jack palance, that one I think is pretty underrated.
Why do I get the vibe that " Mr.Co Host to you " totally doesn't remember those special movies of the week...I miss those . And the after school specials
This movie made for one of the easiest babysitting job I ever had. I put the movie on as soon as their parents left, and the kids loved it so much they asked to watch it again. We did nothing but watch this movie on repeat until the parents got back home. And I just purchased this movie to share it with my 7 year old daughter
Man, I tell ya, Jim and old school TBS were made for each other. So glad he actually in a way was a part of old school TBS back in the day. Also, since he loves movies with big old s´spooky houses in them, I wonder what are his thoughts are on the 1979 version of Salem's Lot.
I remember when Jim was on Svengoolie’s show: It was back when Lisa Marie Varon (better known to us as “Victoria” in the WWE and “Tara” in TNA/Impact) owned a restaurant in Chicago called The Squared Circle. Svengoolie did a segment there and Jim was there trying to eat a huge burger in a certain amount of time. He failed! I went to TSC once. Sadly, it’s no longer in business.
I'm lucky enough that even though it was all a generation before me, as a kid I still got to watch a lot of these shows in syndication because of my awesome grandparents. The Munsters, I Love Lucy, Happy Days, Andy Griffith, etc. That being said I never heard of The Ghost and Mr. Chicken, so thanks Jim for the recommendation
I've noticed it for a while but I finally decided to send him an email about it a few weeks ago. I didn't know if he would respond and when I saw this video posted I just about shit a brick.
Loved that he referenced Burt Mustin! He was one of the homeless men in the classic videotaped TWILIGHT ZONE episode NIGHT OF THE MEEK. Hell, Burt Mustin even admitted to attending one of the home games of the Pittsburgh Pirates as they faced the Boston Pilgrims in the 1903 World Series.... that's the FIRST official MLB WORLD SERIES! Yup, he was that old. This actor went from walking the Earth when Queen Victoria was still reigning England to outliving John F. Kennedy.... dwell on that, fellow Svengoolie fans!
The Munsters is one of my favourite shows. Great family values for a bunch of freaks. They used to show the Ghost and Mr Chicken at school breakup. Freaky friday and Cat from Out of space were two others.
Jim goes nuts when Svengoolie shows Mighty Joe Young. There's a scene when 10 strong men have a tug of war with Joe. The strong men were all real life oldie time wrestlers.
Never heard of it??? Brian! C'mon dude, that's Barney! You know, the only allowed to have 1 bullet in his pocket, none actually loaded till need be Deputy of Mayberry lol ...shit I remember Otis letting himself in and out the drunk tank lol
Great question, Brian. “Addams Family or Munsters?” I’d like to go on record saying I get my nickname, Eddie, from looking like Eddie Munster when I was a kid. Though I prefer Addams Family as does Jim. But I actually am sporting a Gomez style mustache right this minute.
When Luther, the Judges, Mr. Simmons, and the rest see the painting, the close-up of it seems to show a Band-Aid covering the rip when the sheers were. Of course was the blood washable without ruining the painting? One other thing I wonder is how did Kelsey move the andiron over the fireplace when Luther was there to open the secret passage? Did he have a string attached to it? Maybe Luther was too scared of the scary laughter to notice it was moved. Also, was the said laughter genuine or a recording Kelsey had made or bought and used hidden microphones? The phonograph I think played when Luther bumped onto the table it was set on. I can see the whole table move before it plays and scares him. Also, was Kelsey behind the bush and used the 2x4 to hit the drunk at the beginning? If so, he would have had to wait till either both Luther and the woman was gone to leave, or he sneaked into the grounds and trees before they got to the drunk man's body. What are your thoughts?
