That's prolly cuz Castlevania was animated I think. Arcane was also good. But when its live action it's trash. In case of Anime its not like they can do an animated series again, so they're doomed from the start
My problem with Anime Live Adaptation is that they seemingly just can't choose fitting, realistic Anime to work with. They always go with giga popular shows that will inevitably fail because they're shonen magic bullshit with inflatables dudes, timestoppers, flying fighters, etc . I swear if they just go with a humanly possible show like Lupin or Detective Conan they'll get shit done. They're both realistically presentable, episodic shows. You could make entire line-ups of movies about these shows without intruding into what they are in canon and just sell them as filler movies. Do like a whole live action show on just Conan / Lupin filler.
Considering the success Castlevania and Arcane had, you'd think they'd realize actual animation would probably do way better than weird adaptations of animation that cost a ton in special effects and/or look incredibly mediocre
How do you people come up with these ? Also another genius that’s about to ratio tf out of this reply either with a complex comment or a simple mind game two letter “ok” comment how do you guys do this !!!????
The problem is, the one that they keep adapting are those that strong visually...cowboy bebop, One Piece, and now Yu-Yu Hakusho. The source materials, both the manga and anime, while they offer a great story, they are mainly a feast to the eyes. And frankly, I don't think they can recreate the visuals faithfully in live action, at least not without a sizable budget. Honestly, RE adaptation was the one I'm hoping to be good..or at least decent. The game was a movie quality already. Heck, just use the game asset and make a series out of it...no need a live action. Even Dota 2 anime was a banger for me...what is this persistence over live action? The shit that they pick will need a ton of CGI anyway. Why don't they adapt some slice of life, drama manga or anime, like Koe no Katachi (did they already did this?) or something like Hyouka, or Otoyomegatari, or anything else...
Tbh i had a little hope for cowboy bebop irl adaption whan i first head about it. Its a very grounded story's. Just changes some of jokes and change the red head gril character (forgot the name) and you are golden..how the fuck they fucked it upp
My buddy and I were talking about live adaptations last week, I was poking fun of him and sarcastically said "at least they haven't touched Yu Yu Hakusho." It's all my fault. I'm so sorry, everyone. I had no idea they could move on a horrible idea so quickly. I've underestimated Netflix, and we all paid the price.
Maybe you can use your powers to say something like "there is no way youtube can be purged from these annoying bots". Or "atleast Big Body Biggolo isnt a super wealthy person" that would be great thank you very much
This is how I felt when the Halo TV series came out. They took a name that I love dearly and the production team openly came out in interviews (before the show even came out) saying they have never played a Halo game in their life, nor will they ever, and they have no interest in the story in the games what so ever... and yet they are signed on to make a fucking **Halo** TV show. If this was a standalone Sci-Fi series, then I see no problem, but you've gone out of your way to take the franchise's name and therefore the end product is going to be judged against the rest of the franchise that name belongs to.
2:06 "When they adapt these shows, they are just not faithful. They take so much creative liberty, that they mutilate the property to something unrecognizable. AND THEY DO IT PROUDLY." Spread these wise words because I was sick of netflix adaptations ever since death note came out. I had to rewatch the anime to forget I ever saw the adaptation... But I still have flashbacks.
Isn't LDAR from different independent animators? And Arcane from an independent studio in France? I don't know about Castlevania but I sure hope I'm right about the other two, otherwise the next seasons will probably go down the drain. :(
@@alinzelnan not sure about LDAR, but castlevania is PowerhouseAnimation and arcane is Fortiche from france. it genuinely pisses me off when people think netflix made these shows. netflix is the equivalent of the guy that hangs up the gallery painting. they had absolutely nothing to do with how good those shows are and it baffles me that people think they were involved in any way. in fact, netflix tried to get involved with arcane and make it worse and riot had to protect Fortiche by telling netflix to fuck off
@@_holy__ghost I just looked it up they have ap. 42 programs which they produced themselves but I can't really find a list of them (I guess they're mostly crap), Stranger Things, Ozark, Orange is the New Black are from them. I think in part it's okay to give them credit for financing some shows but the creative part is mostly work from other companies. Thank God they were prevented from meddling with Arcane, good TV shows are rare nowadays.
The Punisher and rest of those shows were actually Marvel TV and ABC Studios (part of Disney). Netflix only had the distribution rights, so they weren't really "Netflix original".
I’m convinced whoever is running Netflix is actively trying to destroy the platform. Whenever a show is going well, they cancel it and instead replace it with the 647th identical, shitty teenage rom-com or another Netflix great value version of a high budget movie but with shitty actors and zero effort.
something to do with investors ranking the content that is produced by how woke it is. higher the woke score, the higher investments they get. its fucked
one of Netflix’s best moves was greenlighting Stranger Things, so they clearly have the ability to choose a small production with good content as opposed to a giant cash grab that makes them a laughing stock. They turned a show that was denied by multiple TV networks into a mega pop culture phenomenon with its biggest premiere to date. They are regressing
What you said between 4:50 and 5:50 reminded me a lot of Newton Minow's speech "Television and the Public interest," where Minow described early tv as a 'vast wasteland'. Funny how we've come full circle.
I always thought this could be fixed if they put an actual fan of the show in the production team. Of course no one wants to hurt one of their favourite pieces of media but if you think about it, it's happening whether they like it or not so might as well try to make it less bad.
@@shira_yone Nobody said the anime was bad, but the meme they are referencing shows an image, (lets say spongebob for example) and normal sponegbob is under the caption “manga”. The next caption is “anime adaptation.” and it has a drunk, weirder looking spongebob. Then “Netflix adaptation” and its just a completely butchered terrible image of spongebob. Basically, this meme implies that the Anime is worse than the manga, but I think its the same if not better in many cases. edit: Apparently I wasn’t seeing the popular/proper meme template for this meme… so my description of it most likely will not match yours, take what I say about this with a grain of salt
@@kakyoin5862 Idk what terrible memes your looking at but when it says "Anime adaptation" its meant to have an image of the anime which can sometimes be better but the punch line is that the Netflix one is always bad.
To this day, I still can’t wrap my head around the idea that “live-action adaptations” are so needed and pushed nowadays. It’s like Hollywood still thinks people at large won’t accept animation in any capacity and that it’s strictly meant for children only and that in order to make it “legitimate, mature, and accepted” it has to be live-action. And yes, I know it also has to do with the fact that we’re currently in the “nostalgia-era” and recycling existing IP’s into remakes/sequels/etc. is the thing to do, but you’d think from at least a business standpoint that the reason these IP’s are popular in the first place would have to do with the fact that it *is* animated and that people love animation as a medium.
and honestly, animation looks more mature than bad acting with the same plot everytime because they cant wrap their head over the fact that not every hero has to be a nerd or outcast with a cool girlfriend (im looking at you Death Note adaptation)

I agreed but say it's not 100% impossible but it won't be from America. Since we so woke and angry these days they would want it warped and moody. Japan could pull it off because they would at least make it fun and goofy as needed

I am convinced that there is some exec at the top of Netflix who secretly has a vendetta against the company and is actively doing everything in their power to make people hate them and making the worst possible decisions to drive the all of their subscribers away. Whoever they are, they’re doing a great job.
Yeah, somebody at the top is huffing too much glue. I'd kill for a season 2 of DrhDr, but they just keep shoving the stick into the spokes on their bike...

The real problem with these adaptations is that they go out of their way to NOT hire anyone passionate about the titles/stories, but rather hire people that know nothing about them and that obviously have their own agenda in mind.
Witcher is a very notable exception to this. I don't personally know any bigger witcher fans than Henry Cavill. He's played all the games I believe, and read all or nearly all the books (there are 8 main ones). Edit: number of books
Yeah, these things are completely pointless. Nobody wants to watch this crap when you can just watch original Yu Yu Hakusho in full on Hulu. Boycott by not giving Netflix the view on this and consider switching to Hulu
Like, angry ex-execs finally exacting their revenge? They've been biding their time, working their way up the Netflix corporate ladder until they could tank the company in a fitting act of revenge...yeah, I can see it...lol...
This sucks. I was actually hopeful for the One Piece adaptation. The casting for One Piece is spot on, and the Author of the Manga, Oda, is apparently trying to work very closely with them to make sure it stays on track. He has been very skeptic of western audience adaptations because of the infamous 4kids Dub and saw how terrible it went. But damn, YYH is a cult classic, it's sad they are reviving it just to destroy it.
there's just zero chance that one piece live action will work or be any good -- i don't understand why fans of the manga or anime would even want it, i really don't :D
i was praying that Netflix will go bankrupt before the One Piece adaptation is completed, i can't live in a world were the best story ever written got screwed by a garbage company
ON TOP OF THIS - Netflix has been experimenting with an “extra home” fee in some foreign countries which would restrict the ease of lending Netflix to a friend or family member which is very unnutty
I like how Netflix's live-action english Death Note was so bad that Charlie has exodia oblitorated it from his memory. Straight up sent that shit to his mental shadow realm.
They should work with the original creators of the animes and give them more power in the production in order to make shows that are burning ass. Or just don't adapt genuinely good shows.
Netflix's obsession with live action anime remakes, is on the same level as Sony Pictures' obsession with wanting to make a sinister six movie. There is no conceivable explanation why they're pushing so hard for it, but they just won't fuck off with it
The person or people responsible for this needs to be taken away from their position and putting into a hospital where their brains are to be examined Nobody who's worth a damn likes the live actions and they only keep losing subscribers only someone who's stupid crazy and in denial would do this
It is simple really: Netflix is either trying to snatch as many adaptions of IPs from competitors as possible or they have some other obligation to the keep actors busy.
Over the past couple years, Netflix' business model has very obviously shifted from 'quality' to 'quantity.' The number of great Netflix original series has seriously dwindled, and instead it feels like they crank out loads of mediocre, one season shows and then move onto something else, as if they're just trying to make their library appear loaded instead of focusing on making good content.
looking at this from a marketing point the writer of that manga/anime also wrote hunter hunter, so a new show would bring in a money for the return of hunter hunter in the coming year.
Netflix thinks casting Asian people and giving the costume department 20 dollars is how you make anime adaptations. They also think making anime more realistic is what people want which is so dumb it's hard to understand how they can think this. Anime is inherently over the top and they dilute thinking that's the thing to do
you clearly dont have a clue how movies are made, especially at netflix who doesnt actually make anything. A full cast and a director makes a movie. there are writers and cinematographers. And netflix is barely involved with the production.
@@Yor_gamma_ix_bae Netflix is the company hiring the full cast, writers, and directors to make the movies. Shouldn't they be doing some quality control and making sure the project is running up to par?
Anime is so fun because it’s over the top. I love the crazy unrealistic fight scenes and the insane proportions of the characters because it’s creative and fun. They also never hire good actors for these adaptations
He's not mad about YYH, that show could be anything, really. The entire video his him basically shitting on Netflix rather than an in-depth explanation on why he believes YYH is hard to adapt or anything in regards to the story. He's basically ranting.
I think them hating anime with a passion and wanting to ruin them is the far more likely explanation. If they'd want to prove live action can be good... they'd probably atleast try. I mean, Cowboy Bebop and Death Note could've worked, since they don't heavily rely on anime special effects and are more grounded in their tone and settings, not requiring CGI for giant mechs or ultra attacks, just people and a bit of scifi/a shinigami
Yo fam I make a variety of short entertaining reactions, and a variety of other content on UA-cam as well, I’m still working on versatility, but I guarantee you will find something you will enjoy!🙏🏾🙏🏾💯
The problem is they hire all the wrong people on these productions who change things for stupid reasons, like king charles said they're never faithful and never justify their existence. Like a live action Akira movie could work but you'd need like $200 million dollars to do it and not be shit.
recently enjoyed the spiderhead movie on netflix. Also His house was a fantasic movie made by netflix. Most of what they make is horrendous but occasionally we get something half decent.

Exactly the only good originals have been bojack (which already ended but my point still stands) the dragon prince which has been on hiatus for like 3 years but now is very close to a season 4. Netflix just needs to let the animated department run separate from everything else because they have shown that for the most part they are the only department that has its shit together.
@@collincaperton6718 the problem is that shows like Bojack and Dragon Prince are actually bought by Netflix. When they were riding their high, they built an entire animation studio and it was a big deal. I’m assuming this was done as Netflix would make more money if they created and owned the content like Disney+ does with Marvel and Star Wars. Now they’re going back to their original model of buying shows, which typically requires the entirety of a season or two being complete before they buy it. A lot of jobs were lost because of this, and also the stress of making something only for no one to pick it up is horrible. Truly a terrible time for animation in the age of content.
Netflix’s most expensive production was The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance it was both original and nostalgic because it was a prequel to a beloved classic film. Also Mark Hamill is one of the bad guys and that was pretty awesome too. It received universal acclaim and won an Emmy (so it may as well won an Oscar), and also a second season wouldn’t have been as expensive because all the pre-production had been done. But Netflix did nothing to market the show and I think releasing the whole season in one go as oppose to weekly episodes definitely buried the show from everyone seeing or talking about it. Once again this was Netflix’s most expensive production and they did not advertise it. Netflix does not know what the fuck they are doing. Instead they are more willing to keep blowing money on live-action adaptations of anime. Makes me so…fghajfghvgahsfv
Another baffling decision from Netflix was to make a great show like Green eggs and Ham that cost them 60$ million per season and then give it zero marketing and let it fade into obscurity
Another issue people are unaware of is the literal quality of content in regards to 4K HDR, Dolby ATMOS for Home Theaters owners(Or anyone that owns a nice TV and sound system). Netflix doesn't have the best streaming quality or Dolby ATMOS tracks so that $20 price tag to unlock 4K seems like a slap in the face since you get all of that at base level from Disney+, Black Friday Hulu, Amazon Prime Student and Paramount +, for basically the same price. Netflix is coasting off of history now its costing them bigtime.
This is why I’m worried about the upcoming Avatar live-action. The creators of the original series literally left the project because of “creative differences”, which probably means that Netflix has a lot of stuff that they want to change about the series, and the creators didn’t agree.
@@q7nxis79 yeah there’s going to be an animated movie but Netflix is also making a live-action adaption that’s been in the works since 2019. They’ve already casted all the roles and I’m pretty sure they’ve even finished filming already.
Also: Everytime they raise their prices, they automatically put me on the most expensive plan and i have to manually downgrade. Does this happen to anyone else too?
dude im laughing at what you said. every time netflix raises their price they automatically put you on the most pricey plan. netflix and your comment just proved that all they want is more money from you. i say screw netflix when you got the power of the internet like google and youtube and you can God honnest stream any tv show on travel channel or tru tv or abc or freeform or id go - tv or Fox or Fx or nbc / nbc sports or national geogrpahics the list just does not end its all 100% free to stream so long as you have a cable provider such as comcast or at&t or any other cable service provider.
That’s why I stopped using it. Literally better free content on UA-cam lol I get one month of Netflix every year to watch new stuff and that’s it. I actually don’t even do that anymore lol
Honestly I hate Netflix's logic. "Lets add a beloved series" (only adds season 1 even though the entire series has been done and over with ten years prior) "Let's make an 'adaptation' that people will 'love' to see." (rides off the name and not the quality of the show nor sticks with the source material half the time.) "Lets make something new and powerful." (cuties... 🤢)
What I hate is that Netflix has made good shows in the past. In no particular order, BoJack Horseman, Stranger Things, The Punisher (all those Marvel shows actually, except for Iron Fist, that was ass), Umbrella Academy, The Witcher, Altered Carbon (season 1, at least). There are definitely more good Netflix Originals, but for whatever god-fucking-forsaken reason, these shows get cancelled even after they receive raving reviews. It honestly seems like a fucking miracle that BoJack got to finish its run, and that Stranger Things has continued.
When the Obama's signed a multi million dollar contract to produce original content a few years ago I was out. You know most of it will be woke liberal shite. Half of the board of directors are rock spiders. Smh.
netflix has many gems but unfortunately they usually get abandoned. like there are shows about a guy who goes out on a weekend to middle of nowhere in his own country to try food from struggling restaurant who legitimately has nice foods and story and its only has one season for such a wholesome show
Yeah, it’s actually crazy how they manage to get rid of almost every show that’s good. Another good show was “I Am Not Okay With This”. It wasn’t amazing but it had a good start. It’s a shame.
Clearly it's a business model that works since they've been pulling this same stunt for years. The only way to get them to do otherwise is a decent sized super dedicated fanbase as is the case with the show Community or you just make an absolute masterpiece every single time like BCS. Because making a terrible brand-new show and just throwing it on air always makes more money than a decent show with more than 1 or 2 seasons.
I think the reason for the weak selections (excluding the Netflix original/funded shows and movies) is beacause every other media company on earth has created a streaming service and pulled their properties that were once on Netflix to put on their own streaming service
Jokes on them. A lot of people aren't going to be subscribing to 10 different streaming services, so ironically they're probably going to end up regretting it.
Pretty much, when netflix was the only streaming platfrom everyone was making money because all these old franchises could just collect on the licensing from netflix and netflix was the only place to go to watch them, now since everyone is keeping all their own ip's to themselves netflix has 2 optionsz they can either license things that don't have a franchise behind them which is why they lean towards anime and video games, or they make their own stuff to put on the platform but everything they make is trash especially since they're trying to replace old beloved franchises which can never really be replaced
Seeing Netflix’s Death Note broke my heart. It was the first anime I ever watched. If I had never seen the anime before I watched the Netflix original, I would never had wanted to touch the anime (or maybe even anime in general) with a ten foot stick. Nothing about that film was good. If Netflix want to make an adaptation that is slightly different from the source material, I guess that’s understandable. But that would only work for some franchises, and it can’t be done half-assed like everything Netflix does. At this point, I think it’s a safe assumption that video games and anime will never receive good adaptations
@@narcoleptictriangle6521 That's because Castelvania had competent people behind it, and proper direction. It was of course its own thing and it did start off with a pacing issue, but it had the animation and writting to help carry it as far as it did for basically 4 seasons and now an up coming spinoff. Unrelated to Netflix iirc, I would argue that the live action AoT(Attack on Titan) movies are pretty fun on a stupid level too, especially prior to the timeskip, considering they worked on certain theories of what was further beyond the walls.
@@Tufflewithyourballs183 I thought the guy they cast for Light could've worked, but the whole thing was terrible. I don't mind that actor actually, but yeah. William Dafoe was the only part I enjoyed sadly
Thinking back to the Halo show, and how the showrunners seemed almost proud of their decision to disregard the games, I'm starting to feel like one of the reasons why live-action adaptations of videogames and anime always seem to suck is simply because the source material is somewhat stigmatized in the movie industry. In most cases, it seems that none of the people who work on these adaptations actually care about the source material or have any desire to adapt it faithfully, instead gazing down at it with contempt because apparently, videogames and anime are for nerds and losers and the movie industry is just so much more mature and refined, and really, we should be thanking them for "improving" the source material with all these changes that nobody asked for. Or, I guess more realistically, the reason why they take so many "creative liberties" is just because they'd rather be working on anything else. Either way, the result is a product whose target audience simply doesn't exist - fans of the original IP will hate it and people who never liked the IP to begin with just won't care.

A lot of them also think all anime and videogame fans are bigoted incels (when they clearly aren't, not every gamer is a Gamergater), judging by their hot takes. A project is doomed to fail if the ones making it don't like their target audience to begin with

I saw the title for this video, and thought it was gonna be about password sharing crackdown in Central and South American countries. If for Netflix it goes "well" there, it'll come to the states next year.
The more important point is that these things don't need live action adaptations to begin with. Being live action has no added value in these cases. Imagine taking a photo of someone who vaguely looks like the Mona-Lisa just to appeal to people who are too stupid to appreciate art in the first place, what would be the point? If you don't want to watch the original, why would you want to see the same thing but worse?
Being live-action adds new fans that might not be interested in it as animation. Just like the guardians of galaxy movies and many other MCU films brought many new fans who would never read the comics. By your logic, we should never have gotten any MCU movies like infinity war or guardians of the galaxy or great series like The Boys or Invincible because it should have just stayed as comics. Live action can work and in some cases surpass the original. The Boys being a prime example.
@@Phillylove100 1. there's a difference between saying a comic or manga should be adapted to film, and saying that animated film needs to be adapted to live action. You see how one is changing a book into a movie, and the other is changing a movie into a movie? Do you see why that's different? Animating a comic can be seen as "bringing it to life." For example, if you've ever read shonen, its still cool, but it is hard to translate the dynamism of a fight into static images. So, in that scenario, animation has an added value, it can address a limitation of the medium used. Making something live action doesn't address a limitation of animation however, it often ends up worse, less imaginative, less spectacular. 2. As for the MCU, I'd be fine if it didn't exist, especially if there had already been a previous animated version of it. For example, some of the best DC movies are animated, some of my favorites: Batman: Under The Red Hood, Dark Knight Returns, Flashpoint Paradox etc. are great animated movies based on comics. I personally see no reason whatsoever that there needs to be a live action version, because being live action doesn't mean the stories are being told better. 3. Comic properties and manga properties are different. The comic industry is relentless in pushing out the same characters in every possible story setup. If it sells, they will produce it regardless of how convoluted the stories get, or how many times they have to retcon or reset universes. For this reason when you talk about how the MCU helped get fans into comics, that makes business sense because the stories never stopped being produced. However Yu Yu concluded in 1994. That's it, thats the story, there is no new comic coming out next week for new fans to jump into. You see why that's different? Rehashing a conclusive story is different than trying to get people to become interested in an ongoing property, and even so, if you need that level of corporate pandering to appreciate art you probably shouldn't be having strong opinions about it in the first place.
The reason anime adaptations will always fail is because you can't add anything to the source material, you can only take things away. When you're adapting a book or a video game to a show, it always has potential because those stories are being told in a different medium. A video game and a book cannot present a narrative the same way that a show can, and so a show can be used to flesh out a story in new and interesting ways that the source material was incapable of doing. A lot of adaptations fail to stick that landing, but the potential is there. However, when you're adapting an anime, you're using the same exact stroytelling medium to do it, which means that theres no unique potential for innovation. There's no additional angle that a live action series could present over the original series because its medium has no unique strengths that the original lacked. And if anything, it's always a step down because you're moving from animation, which can literally have ANYTHING happen with the only limitation being if it could be drawn, to live action which is severely more limited in its character design potential, as well as the potential of what they can have in terms of settings and effects.
The good anime adaptations are those that don’t make their characters look like cosplays characters. You can’t feed into the anime aesthetic for a live action adaptation.
So many things are lost when adapting an animation to live-action, at the most basic level there are things that, when done in animation, are genuinely cool, interesting, unique and perfect to the character/story/setting/etc (for example some flamboyant style of hair/dress for a character or an environment that is uniquely otherworldly) but when translated into live-action now becomes completely ridiculous (as a bad example, Super Saiyans would look stupid in live-action but are awesome animated). While you still need to maintain consistent world building with animation, it is much easier to suspend disbelief; with live-action, it's easier to make creative/financial choices that instead do the opposite.
Yeah, this is pretty much it. I should also elaborate that it has little to do with Netflix, or American studios. It's just a live adaptation thing. There are plenty of Japanese adapations that are just crap (i.e. Attack on Titan). Also, it IS possible to make a good live adaptation if the source material is grounded in reality. Probably the best example of this would be Nodame Cantabile. The live adaptation of the show is just as good, and probably better in some aspects, than the manga/anime. But that's because the source material is completely grounded in reality and doesn't rely on any shounen tropes, cliches, and other weird shit.

They could even do a Monster Live Action Movie, but yeah I agree with you, live action movie about unrealistic anime don't work well.
The anime being unrealistic isn't the issue. These guys are generally incompetent
Conan not really. Working with child actors is a nightmare for show runners.
Banana fish js. Also a good example, I’m p sure it already has a live action though iirc
They could have done so much better with Death Note, because other than the Death Gods, it's all physically possible.
Considering the success Castlevania and Arcane had, you'd think they'd realize actual animation would probably do way better than weird adaptations of animation that cost a ton in special effects and/or look incredibly mediocre

They have more than one plan now?
Yes, the most expensive being the 4k plan. At least here where I live.
thats exactly what they say we dont have that shit
If you think that's bad, just wait until you see Marmaduke.
I spend more time on Netflix trying to find a show than actually watching one.
Thats not healthy, i hope ur not still using it.
That’s why I stopped using it. Literally better free content on UA-cam lol I get one month of Netflix every year to watch new stuff and that’s it. I actually don’t even do that anymore lol

Honestly I hate Netflix's logic. "Lets add a beloved series" (only adds season 1 even though the entire series has been done and over with ten years prior)
"Let's make an 'adaptation' that people will 'love' to see." (rides off the name and not the quality of the show nor sticks with the source material half the time.)
"Lets make something new and powerful." (cuties... 🤢)
Ohhh God cuties was one of the worst things to ever be made.
I create entertaining videos as well 🤠
Netflix didn’t make cuties they just bought the rights for the english release of it.
Smh.
-Nobody want Netflix Gurren Lagann.
-Want it.
Not to mention it feels like you can’t watch half the shows that should be on there, along with all the missing seasons in shows as well
netflix has many gems but unfortunately they usually get abandoned. like there are shows about a guy who goes out on a weekend to middle of nowhere in his own country to try food from struggling restaurant who legitimately has nice foods and story and its only has one season for such a wholesome show
What's that show called?
The road to red restaurant list.
@@BenDover-tk3jj It clearly doesn't work since they are hemorrhaging sub counts and their stock is taking a nosedive back to 2017 numbers.
I think the reason for the weak selections (excluding the Netflix original/funded shows and movies) is beacause every other media company on earth has created a streaming service and pulled their properties that were once on Netflix to put on their own streaming service
@Kavetion bro wtf you're worse than netflix

Jokes on them. A lot of people aren't going to be subscribing to 10 different streaming services, so ironically they're probably going to end up regretting it.
@@BaitPolice honestly I just want a reason to make fun of a bait master
Pretty much, when netflix was the only streaming platfrom everyone was making money because all these old franchises could just collect on the licensing from netflix and netflix was the only place to go to watch them, now since everyone is keeping all their own ip's to themselves netflix has 2 optionsz they can either license things that don't have a franchise behind them which is why they lean towards anime and video games, or they make their own stuff to put on the platform but everything they make is trash especially since they're trying to replace old beloved franchises which can never really be replaced
Holy shit you’re right actually. WTF happened to Netflix original shows. They started out pretty good, too.
I’ve never heard of the short tbh

Seeing Netflix’s Death Note broke my heart. It was the first anime I ever watched. If I had never seen the anime before I watched the Netflix original, I would never had wanted to touch the anime (or maybe even anime in general) with a ten foot stick. Nothing about that film was good.
If Netflix want to make an adaptation that is slightly different from the source material, I guess that’s understandable. But that would only work for some franchises, and it can’t be done half-assed like everything Netflix does.
At this point, I think it’s a safe assumption that video games and anime will never receive good adaptations
this niggas never seen the great dragon ball movie... for shame!
Castlevania was really good tho
Only good thing about it was willem dafoe

A project is doomed to fail if the ones making it don't like their target audience to begin with
Why should I watch some crappy Hollywood schlock wearing anime clothes when I can just watch the real Yu Yu Hakusho on Hulu?
Yeah, nearly every adaptation of games and anime have this air of the makers being embarrassed of the source material
Halo show is good though, even if it's not video game canon. If they dropped one of the character arcs I'd easily give it a 8/10 good sci fi
You know the meme of the grim reaper going through the doors with blood coming out from them? This is that meme.
Netflix: Live-action SHREK?! 😎
Just imagine how much great anime Netflix could produce if they put all this budget into building an actual animation studio. (which, mind you, could also do contract work and bring in revenue aside from subscriptions)
Case in point: the Castlevania anime, a Netflix Original which was well received by mainstream critics as well as fans of the franchise.
@@spikey5281 Dont forget Dota: Dragons Blood. Also, their animation studio has a few decent picks, like Klaus, A Tale Dark and Grimm or the upcoming Pinocchio.

I had this same reaction when they announced live action Last airbender.
@@01BLSP4Y I agree
@@Phillylove100 yes we never should have gotten MCU. Movies have been ruined by these studios creating shit movies to sell merch and video games.
@@Phillylove100 If theyre not interested in the original work than they have no business being fans of a property
I think the only way an anime can work in live-action is if it's done by an art house director. You need crazy to do crazy.
The good anime adaptations are those that don’t make their characters look like cosplays characters. You can’t feed into the anime aesthetic for a live action adaptation.
Good points.
I felt the same way when I heard about the borderlands movie. I'm so pissed after reading the synopsis for it
Charlie just has that DVD on standby whenever he needs to make a point about Yu Yu Hakusho
