As you can see, they aren't pushing the cars, there are quite strict rules on a rally with so called live traffic. If you look closely there are just wearing headphones, not helmets which technically means it's not a automobile race but more a historic touring show, hence the roads can be open for public. The fact that the corner is dangerous is right, then again the Monte Carlo rally is one of the most technical and is one of the, if not the, oldest rally there is.
Hey, that’s what these cars were built to do. Better to take it out, bump it, and repair the damage than to have someone stick it in their warehouse forever and touch themselves while looking at it
Yeah, like what could possibly go wrong when running old rally cars on a narrow and windy road, with normal traffic being active at the same time, right?
@@blech5438 I dont want to confuse, Im spanish not italian I talk about my country so maybe can be different in another countries. Historic rallyes started to be open to traffic here on 2015 I think, for me this is bad because was a cheap way to enjoy cars without having to join racing federations and such
I *love* that these beautiful cars are being driven and not stuffed away in some dark corner of a dusty warehouse, but dang, that 240Z and Stratos hurt…
5:13 Wow, that Ford Falcon is an absolute behemoth, compared to the same era euro cars. Nevertheless, the driver got that barge turned without significant problems :)
The Stratos, ouch! Pretty brave to pilot a V12 E Type and a Ford Galaxy round there too! Quite amazing the roads were open, that made it rather interesting for the entrants!
Strada aperta al traffico? Totalmente folle!
Most entertaining part was watching the red guy to see if he approved or not. Clapped at the best ones, thumbs up for the good ones, and just stared at the normal ones. Best part was the sarcastic clap to the stratos driver who crashed
although... I don't think you're allowed to enter with something, unless it is properly old. If it is a replica it must be using an old chassis at least.
Researchers should investigate why after a crash the driver feels the need to drive even more recklessly. Is it to prove you're not an idiot after all? Is it to run away from those who saw you fail as quickly as possible?
As much as I love to hate on old rich guys with cool cars - props to these guys for really living live without ABS and putting a Stratos into the wall.
Looks like frost on the tarmac in a cold shadowed corner, judging by the completely frozen waterfall just there. Plus a decreasing radius to boot. Wonder if the teams had been warned over radio.
The small cars (hatchbacks) appear to go faster than the big ones. Probably they are the same speeds. And I always thought Mr. Bean was a fast driver. 😄
I feel like the first driver in the Golf deserved to have a thousand people stood at that corner to cheer him on. Absolute perfection.
The driver in the 2002 as well
instead he gets an onlooker in the road eating lunch
Wheres the Mustang crows when you need them...lol
356 wasn't bad either
2:42 also
The Stratos hitting the wall was painful to watch.
hard cringe
@@skunch no, not at all, rally cars have wounds mate!
We saw 3 stratos, they could be replica. The stratos replica seems common
@@RocketJohn and it just looks like it popped the front panels out of place anyways
If its any consolation, it's a rep car, and while expensive, only the owner and his godawful driving will truly suffer from his mistake.
I'm proud of everyone who yanked the hand brake and tried to slide through that corner. good on y'all.
ESPECIALLY THAT JAG OMG YES
8:00-ish? What a legend.
lol it was awesome hey :). I wouldn't dare treat a classic car like that though
That Jaguar pulling off such a good corner was maybe the surprise of the video. Also the Falcon
i also wasnt expecting that large ass body to slide through the corner lmfao
This time I was hoping for a Clickbait thumbnail 😭😔
At least he crashed rallying

Yes exactly.
Pin this, this is is very helpful
Thank god they are not pushing...
It is in fact the oldest rally! It was established by Prince Albert I in 1911 :)
Still a couple of close calls with cars coming the other way though. They didn't seem to want to give way to rally cars hey lol
2:45: Turn, use handbrake, and towards the end countersteer and correct, wonderful.
My words exactly! 👌
Cleeeean
my god lancia stratos.......
At least you could've gone back in time to prevent it, given the pain that has caused us all...

Without road closure (for normal traffic) this event doesn't make any sense.

Some years ago this was not like this but regulations changed, since this historic rallying ended for me and other people

Sure it does. It's a bit of fun, something people seem to have forgotten is important. "but who was fastest"?! Nobody fucking cares.
These are the type of rich people I like! They keep the cars alive and don't just "own" and feel good about themselves. Keeping it real!
8:00 Jag nails it perfectly
Right...Its not easy with this car!
Hard to see that beautiful Fairlady and Stratos hitting the wall 😢

Pues se ha tomado la curva mucho mejor que muchos europeos!....ahí lo dejo!
Ese si es un carro de hombre!!
I think Shelby, or maybe Holman-Moody had a hand in 'breathing on' the 289 in that thing??
3:17 My heart ist literally breaking too 😞
Copilot Carlos Tavares the big boss of Peugeot !!!
It's probably just a reproduction car.
There's no longer many Lancia Stratos out there. Those who have a real Stratos won't be taking them to rally.

Hah, that was awesome to see the 242DL in that mix, but maybe I'm biased.
So happy to see the cars not rotting in museums, but actually being use for the purpose they were built for

Jaguar MK2 took that corner superbly
Great video. thank you for sharing.🇯🇵
I screamed unintentionally at the crash of a precious car 😭
Thank you ! Yes unfortunately the stratos
6:13 Love that Volvo
ストラトスがぐしゃるのと同時に心もグシャった
ive never been so bored watching a rally video
Special mention to the agility of the 911, the Alpine and the BMW 02.
Yeah, but... Every Porsche had oversteering.
Those cars are just all amazing!
オルードカー現役で走っているなんてすごい!
でも、レースの為に一般車両を通行止にしていないから、対向車のドライバーは生きた心地しなかった出ようね。
These crashes hurt so much
2:42 perfect, bravo!
Dangerous and irresponsible with those oncoming traffic!
they don´t drive fast, there are strickt rules to follow .
But on that corner its really dangerous with oncoming traffic, thats right
Lmao, that falcon. Big ol lead sled doing some rallying, lol
2:42 First clean drift
As a group I would say the Porsche guys in general negotiated that turn very well
seeing that green zed lockup and go into the rocks is heartbreaking!
Quel plaisir de voir de vrais voitures.
Non aux voitures électriques.

i laughed so hard at that Z understeering straight into a wall
Researchers should investigate why after a crash the driver feels the need to drive even more recklessly. Is it to prove you're not an idiot after all? Is it to run away from those who saw you fail as quickly as possible?
Its a rally... They are in a contest. Crashes are "normal" and insured by the event. Any damage caused by the rally is paid for.
Research isn't needed, it's simply adrenalin.
They remind me of my first runs on Dirt Rally lmao
That golf was sooo smooth tho!
2:42 *Nice* drift
The alpine took it best in my opinion.
I love the sound of those datsuns
0:40 An incompetent driver who panicked. Sad to see the accident.

The sound of those 911s tho😍
Incredible 🔥
Oppo lock on that E Type - brilliant!

That BMW 320 at 1:00 demonstrates exactly why you don't break while in the corner, the instant they let off the break at 1:04, the car steers again
3:17 This hurts my soul..😞
This is interesting to drift old cars, what a funny clip~

Do they send out 'ice crews' before these stages, just like the teams do on the official, full speed, FIA WRC Monte?? LOL

These older cars don't seem like they've been maintained very faithfully.
