Excellent lesson Bob! Just one clarification for you... Actually when a company "goes bankrupt" or "declares bankruptcy" it is not true that the company can no longer pay people they owe money to. In fact there is an entire legal process where certain investors, shareholders or stakeholders may be first in line to recover assets from the sale of company properties, etc. But yes, for this level of English, I think your definition is good enough.
