Born in 94 and Donovan is my favourite artist. A true poet. Wish i could interview him before he passes. I feel like he is the most criminally underappreciated talent of his time. Most people my age want to meet Drake or Tom Brady... I only want to meet Donovan.
Donovan is my favourite Artist I was born in 1963 so he was my first love musically and I just love his personality too. lol Lucky enough to have seen him twice …when I was 18 at Chichester Festival Theatre and then my Husband took me to see him for my 50th birthday at the Guildhall in Portsmouth City. My Magical Minstrel Man. 😃 Happiness Runs…it sure does Don Thankyou for so many happy years of listening…and to my lovely husband Kevin for many happy years of listening too. Lol ☝️😅🥰🥰 💙🦢💙
Yes, notice how his strings remain untrimmed. Says a lot really. It is not that he doesn't care for perfection. It is he just doesn't consider his imagine as viewed by others. "Greater love has no man than to give his life for a friend." God talks to us through such people. Trimmed or Untrimmed he knows the message remains PerfecT.
I learned this song in 1978/1979 (?) at 6th grade camp... before Prop 13 in California, the whole 6th grade got to go away for 2 nights, 3 days in the mountains. Our long-term substitute brought her guitar along and taught us this song by the campfire. It has stuck with me for all these years - I thought of it on a whim, looked it up and am so pleased that I can share this with some folks and we can sing it again together. In this time of COVID-19/social distance/shelter-at-home/quarantine and uncertainty... please SING. It lifts you mind, body, soul and spirit. Sing for yourself, sing for your "co-workers" at home (kids, pets etc..) ~ just sing ♥ ♫ ♪ ♥. Even if you don't feel like it, put on a song you love and sing along... music heals the world.
I saw Donovan perform in the 1980s and he did this same audience participation bit. I got to chat with him a little bit after the show. He was super down to earth and approachable. A truly memorable concert.
I saw him in 1997 at First Avenue in Minneapolis and he signed my ticket stub & album. I asked if I could give him a hug, and we hugged. He’s a fucking nice guy!🎃
1968- I was in love with Donovan. The albums he released when. I was in high school- Donovan in Concert, Barabajagal and Open Road.were some of his best. I saw him in Atlanta in 1972.
I got to see him at the Golden Bear in Huntington Beach before they tore it down. It was a trip watching outlaw bikers, old hippies &c all singing together. The energy was blissful.
I vividly remember seeing this on TV when I was a kid. My dad enjoyed Donovan and I had no idea who he was. This was my first experience of who he was and I really liked it. Still do and still enjoy him.
Never forget learning this song as a school child back in 1975. I used to enjoy singing it a lot. 35 years since then I can never get it outta My Head. I just break out into the La La La La La La La La La La La La Happiness Runs Happiness Runs, Hapiness Runs Happiness Runs.
Here's my idea of a great time: Donovan, Dylan, Neil Young, and John Fogerty, in a cabin on a mountain for a weekend with nothing but acoustic guitars and me as the only percussionist for 500 miles : )
ask his kids if he helped "happyness run" in their lives.... dead beat dad... I do love his tunes, but you should ALWAS be there for your kids... or not make kids

My daughter met him....spent an evening in his apartment with her friend. He wanted to write a song with her.... she didn't take it too seriously.
I only wanna meet Kurt 🥲
How beautiful to remember a time where singing was a part of our everyday lives and love was in the air!

I love how Donovan always looks like he loves what he does. Unlike certain artists today.

awe. it's so amazing. I wish I was there. I also love how he takes time to turn around and see the people behind him. but he's so sweet and peaceful.
His lyrics speak to his enlightened nature, so full of the simple joy we can all realize if we choose it.

Saw him live in Eugene Oregon in the late 60's and he had us do the same thing. It was quite fun.
