Finally found a snaking tutorial. The best I'd usually get was a written guide on how to do it, but not the specific time frames. Watching this really helped. Thanks!

foREVer6716 I'm attempting to get good at snaking, but I find it hard because they require A grip ships like the Black Bull. I hate A grip ships like the Black Bull.
+AmnesiaMaster The Ultimate Maverick Hunter The lack of grip actually helps with snaking once you get good with it, but is annoying to start with. However, the letter of the grip means nothing. Fat shark has a grip of "E", yet has waaaay better grip than black bull, who has a grip of "A". Plus, fat shark can also snake pretty well. I personally use tornado condor v2 (not the vehicle in this video), and all those parts can be obtained without homebrew. It's grip is bad but is a great vehicle for snaking with. +Kalificus This trick will kill your wrists if not careful. What I did is I would just stop snaking once my wrists would start hurting for the time. Eventually I would come back later and could go for a little bit longer. Now I can snake for hours no problem, so it's all about practice. Good luck, and don't hurt yourself too bad ;)

I remember I thought snaking took very long time to learn. And that I would never make it. Then I tried to take acceleration to max and it was really easy.
Just as a side note, you can snake with any machine that can reliably quick turn (sorry, Jody Summer fans, but that rules the White Cat out). In fact, I've seen some people recommend using a machine that's not quite as good at snaking but is very consistent at it (like the Trainer Falcon) when starting out and then stepping up to the faster machines when you've gotten comfortable with it.
Fire Stingray is one of the better non-custom vehicles for snaking, although is nowhere near as good as someone like black bull. A few non-custom vehicles can snake, although are not always recommended.
So that's why no matter how hard i try, I can't catch up to Wild Boar, Dark Schneider or the falcon ghost.. Gotta love old youtube vids. what a gem. I bet this dude can do it in his sleep by now 😂
It could be a lot of factors, make sure you have your car set to maximum acceleration. If it is then perhaps you hay be switching from left to right too slowly or are holding left on the analog stick while holding down R (or visa versa). It takes a lot of practice for sure to get this trick down.

Some parts can only be unlocked using Action Replay / Homebrew, but not all those parts are needed. I currently use a vehicle called tornado condor - V2 which requires no hacking at all. It's the same body and turbo as the one shown in this vehicle just a different cockpit, so not too much is different.
Well, that's a shame. And here I was thinking beating all the Staff Ghosts might unlock the last few parts. Guess I'll have to settle with my 100%, but not really 100% complete file. xD
Yea a lot of parts were locked off and could only be unlocked by winning competitions held in Japan in around 2005. If you won they would modify your game to allow the new parts in, but of course hacking can always get around that pesky issue.
I came here to learn to Snake, cause I made records years ago I can't beat anymore. Ok, so tried what you said on the same vehicle I made the records with and it turns out: That car can't snake at all. So how the fuck did I made the records or rather: How high-skilled were I?? I drive like a mad man hammering boost and still am 5 seconds behind or not ranked at all...
1. Use vehicle that can snake (custom vehicles, black bull, fat shark, etc) 2. Set vehicle to highest value of max acceleration. 3. Hold left on control stick and L button 4. Switch to holding right on control stick and R button 5. Alter back and forth quickly 6. Hold A button the entire time to continue acceleration
Thanks to this exploit, it ruined the game for me. Using is extremely miserable, but you had to do it if you wanted to go fast so I stopped playing the game altogether because for me the most fun part of racing games are the time trials. Now we have rumors that the game is being remastered to Switch so I hope they fix the physics of the game
@@KusogeMan You get a vehicle with low friction (traction?) and constantly drift left and right with the shoulder buttons and constantly gain more speed. It's incredibly awkward.
Great video, I have beaten all cups on master already without "snaking"... seems a litle bit "unfair" to me so I wont use it anyways. Check out for f-zero gx videos in my channel if you wish.
My wrists started cramping after like 15 minutes or so of doing this on story mode, but at least I finally unlocked Fat Shark 🤷
Switch controls in your options to gas as Y and L and R become A and B and youll save your wrists

THANK YOU FOR THIS! I saw CGN's fantastic AGDQ Speedrun & bought F Zero GX to see how hard the game is.

Snaking is really helpful in Chapter 4 in the story mode

Yea starting with the blue falcon is actually a good idea, especially if you want to do story mode which is a lot of fun to do.
snaking is easy, not hitting walls is the real struggle. Awesome tutorial nonetheless

I find Great star or Fire Stingray easy to Snake. Though it might not actually be snaking. I can get up to like 2500 KM/H doing it.

That's strange, so story mode doesn't load at all? You can always hack him in if you play on wii with homebrew or gamecube with action replay.

Not every vehicle can snake, but blue falcon can in fact snake okay.
Any machine that can quick turn can snake, since snaking is basically just repeatedly quick-turning back and forth with a max acceleration setting.
Iron tiger is one of the best snaking machines out there.

Why does my vehicle only go slower when i snake?

most vehicles cannot snake, the ones that are best tend to be custom vehicles. the best non-custom vehicle for snaking is black bull.
