  • This video shows on how to grow a mango tree from cuttings. People often ask can mango cuttings be propagated like other fruits? Can you really grow a mango tree from a stem cutting? I used a mango tree cutting to propagate it for growing a new mango tree. This method of growing a mango tree from cutting is not a grafting or layering method.

      Thank you, Sir. Above video shows polyembryonic seedlings growing from seeds. In the case of cultivating from mango tree cuttings, the chances of root growth are very poor! The shoots grow fast, false promising success but eventually die off, simply because the roots fail to grow! In my experience, not all plants can be propagated from cuttings and grafting. The sure way of propagating is air-layering (from some fruit trees only!) and growing from seeds! In my country Malaysia, mango trees sprout everywhere easily from fallen mangoes! Is there a 100% possible method of growing plants from just plant cuttings with rooting hormone applied? Thanks @Garden Tricks.

      For Air layering success must do some steps to enhance the root growth
      1.do it at or below stem of 15mm thick branch or thicker.
      2.remove the bark and scrub the cambiom with clean knife.
      3.do not over moist the media or soil (coco peat preferred) what ever it is in the bag.
      4.reduce the watering or irrigation to half or make it longer as much as possible between each irrigation cycle to other or maintain semi dry soil at root zone.
      5.remove some leaves for same branch about 30 to 40 % which is upper from airlayering.
      6.saw the branch slightly below airlayering about 10 to 20 % of branch section.
      And good luck it will take up to 40 days as minimum depends on season and variety.

      I am not the first. There are several articles on mango propagation by cuttings, just search in google. I did this experiment in summer in Australia, temperature around 25 deg C. Try with cuttings from a young tree, around 2 years old. Other cuttings need controlled conditions of temperature and humidity, needing heating mat and regular misting.

    2)When replanting do you put in potting soil or the same mixture of river sand & potting soil?

      1. It is like beach sand. If you use beach sand, wash it to remive salts.
      2. Use potting mix, river and cow manure in equal parts for transplanting.
      3. Place the pot in shade for a few days after transplanting and then in sun.

    • @anonymous175
      @anonymous175 2 роки тому

      Yes. you are using the sand as a medium. I live in Florida and I’ve found that using sand helps water drain. Sand has no nutrients of its own so you must add something to the sand that does (Ie Potting soil. cow manure . Compost… Anything that will give your plant the proper nutrients it needs because sand alone is like a rock. Notice for instance here in Florida you see yards that dont have much grass. I’m sure you’ve noticed that grass doesn’t like to root in sand alone it uses dead grass clippings as nutrients. so patches in your yard stay bare unless you add sod

    I am just wondering if this is the same cutting you've initially cut off the branch and then placed in the water? I am confused, but if I look closely at 1:28 seconds of the video the cutting you're holding is much thinner, than the cutting you're about to put in the water as shown at 1:31 seconds of the videos, as well as at 1:48 seconds of the video.
