South Africa will always look clunky until Rassie decides his had enough of blooding and rotating players and actually working on building a solid 33 squad and cohesiveness. We need to start deciding whose our starting team and playing them more often and deliver more polish performances.
It's maybe a bit complicated. For starters, there is simply too much rugby. Think of all the names we lost this year alone through injury. You have to manage minutes. For two, the Rugby Championship traveling schedule is gruelling. Seven day turnaround with transcontinental flights is a huge challenge to navigate and the best way to navigate this is via rotation. Lastly and most importantly, we are losing a lot of names after 2027. It is imperative that our debutants rack up 30 or so caps by then so that we don't fall off a cliff.
Hello mate! Great analysis, as usual! Thank you! I think the Boks are in a different class now, but many nations are now coming right. I think 2025 will be awesome as we are seeing an AB and Wallabies revival. The landscape can change very quickly. That being said, I feel that the Boks didn't really ignite this Autumn. we blooded new players and tried new combos. The only thing that matters in test rugby is winning, though. Exciting times!
I posted this elsewhere but i think its true so ill share here too. I've been saying since sa game 1 against argentina that sa are using these games against teams other than nz/ireland as training grounds. Not only for tactics or testing new players (which is the primary focus) but also for other skills like backline plays, handling skills, maul defense, alternative tackle selection on defense, offloads etc. This includes England and Scotland. This is why sa refuse to take 3 points against scotland and england except at the end of a half or if the opponents are getting ahead on pressure. Neither are they forcing the territorial advantage with kicks from hand to drive teams into the corner and arent bothering with the rolling maul off attacking lineouts. They are training at how to win without their core weapons (lineout maul, terriorial control, scrum penalties for 3 pointers etc). The final 10 minutes of the england game where sa forced england to play in their own 22 for 10 minutes straight demonstrated what they can do if they want to and just play their classic game. They could have chosen to play like that all game. Would have won with a score lile 15 - 6 without letting england even sniff the springboks 22 if they did this. But they are choosing not to. That skill is still there to fall back on if needs be like they did at Twickenham. Mostert was asked in his man of the match interview what the springboks intention was for the match. The interviewer was expecting an answer like "win the physical battle" or some motivational statement about Wales being an important fixture and sa didn't want to underestimate them. His answer was "we played to get better". Theory confirmed. This August tour was not about winning, it was about improving. Your point about fassi trying new roles in playmaking fits right in with my idea.
It's also increasing depth at international level. More players having test experience is a good thing My guess is this process could stop any 'rebuilding' phase they may have in the future.

Hey Wildkard, Just an FYI, and you can do a whole video on this. But the corruption within Wales rugby is why none of their players like; Navidi, Biggar, North, Davies et al, want to play for them. Rest of the world is laughing alittle at Wales but I think this could be terminal for us being a tier 1 nation for atleast 10years. We're the Italy now.
Playing numbers down. Clubs getting bys because the other team doesn't have 15 players or a fit squad it's just not the biggest sport in Wales now.
I wonder what the European and NZ pundits have to say now that the Boks are mastering the running game. Do they regret poking the bear, or will they find something new to piss about? Anyway.. GHOOGHA STEENEKAMP FTW!
gooooogaaaah steenahkampa
@@Wildkard 🤣🤣
Interesting viewing. Thanks, Wildkard. What would your match day 23 be for the Boks, after 52(?) players have been selected this season? Would be interested to know. Cheers.
13:25...."Drunk old dads..."😂😂😂!
Butter fingers, but hey, as long as we Choke to the win.😂😂😂
Or Wales just held their own today.
Seriously hope you were being sarcastic with your Ireland No.1 team in the world rubbish. Repeated it twice to make it sound even more ridiculous.
its a joke mate we all know wallabies will always be number 1 team in the world
Afrikaaner. Chill wildkard. Blacks watch, play and u derstand rugby too😂😂😂😂
that is true!
Wales are not a tiny nation. They can beat anyone and lose to anyone. Let's see if they lose by a bigger margin when they play Ireland and France and co.
The Boks should have got 60 or more when you look at the statistics. That said, it was not a good win for the Boks because their backline is still brainless.
The Boks made 30 changes in 3 games. Compare apples with apples Wildkard
that means boks players had more rest right
Is there another international team with a pool of 40 A grade players
No, but England have the most vice captains.
england does have so many vice captains
