Have you ever read, "Faerie Tale" by Raymond E. Fiest? There is so much interesting information in it as well as a great story; I believe you would thoroughly enjoy it😁

The axe is as much a main character as Turlogh is in this one! REH was worth a million per word! His prose is so immersive and descriptive. Thanks for yet another magnificent reading of this pulp master's work ⚔

Well, R.E.H. never received what he deserved. Reading WIKI about him, and the poo-brain excuses for rejecting more than 60% of his finished stories (several magazines did, even after the first story succeeded)...

Excellent story. One of REH's best, imo

Thanks for your recording of this, and the other RE Howard stories that you've done. There are so many of his works that people don't know, all they know of is Conan, and that's a pity because his other works are just as good if not better. This has been recorded before, but it's been a very long time. I don't think it can be found on UA-cam any longer. But even if it is you didn't excellent job and thank you. Please keep up the good work and keep recording Howard's works thank you.

I first read this when i was in high back in 89-90. It was the last story in Bran Mak Morn and Turlogh has been my favorite REH character ever since. I have waited so long for someone to make a movie about this story but i fear it will never happen. Who knows though? Either way Robert outdid himself with this one. This story is Legendary. Turlogh is one of two warriors to fight with the last great king of the Picts in a time out of mind. One, King Kull, to keep the Norsemen from leaving a battle the Picts had to win and two, Turlogh whose life was saved by the Pictish kings spirit over respect from one warrior to another. Like i said, Legendary!

The plot of this story was used in Marvel comics featuring another of Howard's character, Conan. In that story the girl he was trying to save was a girl that was an childhood tribal friend of Conan.
Same sad ending, unfortunately. Neither got the girl. 😔

Gee, Robert E Howard, the lack of self awareness is pretty ironic and staggering.

Haha thats REH for you. His resentments and hatreds always creep out, as told to him by his mother and his mother's Scots Irish relatives driven west by the Federals.

Your Gaelic pronunciation could use some work but great effort. I enjoyed this reading very much. Many thanks.

Thanks! I worked hard to try to figure out how to pronounce the names and places but its tough to find pronunciation guides for Gaelic. Hopefully I did a passable job :)

@@TheEldritchArchives Try the Irish Texts Society Irish-English Dictionary by Reverend Patrick S. Dinneen, MA if you can find a copy, Connor. I'd gladly lend you mine but I don't think either of our bikes will cross over the water. It's a shame I've lost what little Irish I had, but to be honest I only had the bad words to start with.
