Just so everyone knows, this was a test flight, not an instruction flight. It was just a quick way for me to go up, see it fly, and get the feel for how it handles! I have to get 10 hours of instruction in this before I can fly it (for safety and because my insurance requires it). Stay tuned for the actual instruction flights! :)
Go Piper. Happy flights and safe landings.
So are you getting a Seneca? Switching out Li`ll Red?
Hey Kay you’re at my flight school flight club 502!!
Big fan!
I did think you came across as "Super Professional" in the video. Good Job! 💪💪.
You look so at home with cockpit and cabin - hope to see you with your mum (who doesn't want to sleep anymore). 10hrs for you is nothing
Big shout out to you all.
Dad- You and mom sure raised a GREAT daughter! Congratulations!! Buy the plane, paint it red and call it "Big Red!"
They'll be happy to hear that: @ribsurd @talkwithpops
That is what I was thinking for sure! Match it to Lil Red!
God bless you Kay and Pops (and Mom). You raised her right!
Twin Red
@jimmyrosen9424 Airplane paint jobs ain't cheap! I can't imagine Pops springing for a new livery after adding N484HP to the fleet. This Seneca is turbocharged and is rarin' to go, and has horsepower in the callsign. So how about "Wildfire", after the pony in the Michael Martin Murphey hit?
@@Mike4444x
Twin Lil Red. "Fly With Kay II" or "Flying With Twin Kay" 😁. I love "Wildfire". Great song for sure. We are old...eh?
Love your channel, I am not a pilot but live vicariously through you and other pilots who take us along for the ride. The fact that you talk to us and explain what, how and why certain things are happening is a joy. I know it’s not very exciting to other experienced pilots but to us who are not in the air, it is great. Your love of flying is apparent, I look forward to more content.
Be safe,
JB
I couldn't have said it better. I, too, am not a pilot, but love planes and flying. This young lady does a great job of helping us connect to this world.
Its SO refreshing to watch a YT pilot who actually KNOWS what she is doing and understands the aircraft.
YT pilots who are "learning the instruments and aircraft as they fly" have paid the ultimate price for their carelessness.
darkness7800......I know who you're talking about. I agree with your assessment. It was a tragic situation for sure.
I would feel comfortable flying with Kay, she's in charge and paying attention. I am familiar with the pilot you are referring to and saw a few videos and that was definitely scary.
Yeah. It's sad what happened to Jenny (aka TNFlygirl) and her dad, due to her incompetence. It's also a shame that most of her videos were taken down, as they were great examples of what not to do.
This may just be a coincidence, but, shortly after Jenny's crash, Kay did an almost identical flight with her dad (minus the crash, of course). Now she's got a more powerful plane than her Cherokee, and, unless I'm mistaken, it has what looks like a Century 2000 autopilot in it (same one Jenny's Debonair had).
Mistakes can happen to anyone.
@@PositivelyKyleHikes Mistakes are one thing, and unforeseeable situations in the air are another. BUT when you knowingly operate an aircraft, where you are unfamiliar with the operation of that aircraft and you did not take the time to familiarize yourself on the ground (where its safe).....that is NOT a mistake. That is utter incompetency!
Love your new plane! 🎉
Very much looking forward to seeing you both in the air!
Congratulations on your new Wings Kay. Best of luck. Can't wait to join you for some exciting flights!!!
Don’t regularly comment on videos, but the seneca II and III are my absolute favorite airplanes, plenty of power and they fly really well. Now be careful with the turbos, really easy to cause damage to your engines if you get into bad habits.
After a long xcountry running 65-75% power, allow your engine to cooldown before descending. Just reduce 2” MAP every couple of minutes til you hit your desired descent power at TOD. Also avoid running the props below 2400rpm for an extensive amount of time. Our typical cruise is 33 MAP and 2400 and about 11.5 gals/h on FF, the POH is incredibly precise with its power setting table.
Don’t forget the 2 min turbo cooldown after landing (very important) and careful with over speeding the gears on take off.
My last piece of advice is, avoid flaps on take off, unnecessary drag, can be dangerous during an engine failure past your decision speed. Instead, just do static departure. Foot on the brakes, 33MP, release and get it as close to 40MP as you can and do not overboost.
I do similar with my turbo diesel vehicles, so a gentle warm up & then a cooldown after every journey, especially when pulling off the motorway into a service station. Many people dont realise they should do this 😮
Congratulation's on your new Piper Seneca happy flying!
Been waiting for this, congratulations kay❤🎉
Kay! Congrats! What a great plane. Love the avionics and it has A/C!!! Looking forward to some Twin Prop Vids! Blue skies and tailwinds to ya!!! 😎
Now THAT, is an awesome panel. Wow!! The guy in the hanger next to me has a Seneca. Now I want to go for a ride!!!
Congratulations on your new plane. I'm looking forward to seeing more videos of your new plane. Stay safe up there. Thanks again for sharing your story.
That's a nice airplane. I got over 600 hours on the Seneca 2. The only thing I don't like about it is nose heavy, but you take care that with the trim, I was fortunate to work for FBO piper dealer,During Hurricane andrew, I delivered a thousand pounds of food from the West coast of florida to miami.
It has longitudinal trim? Wow!
You made it look effortless. A natural aviator! 👩✈️
You raised a great young lady you should be very proud of her.
"So you do not go full throttle.". Little different from Lil Red. Boost and manifold pressure gauges are your new friends. Enjoy. Beautiful aircraft.
Of course, every pilot finds their own comfortable technique, but I found at first, with the turbos on the Seneca, I like to hold brakes and bring the engines up to the maximum takeoff manifold pressure (just short of when the over boost limit lights come on). Then once power stabilizes, release brakes. That way you aren't hunting, trying to equalize power while rolling down the runway. Once you get comfortable with the plane, you will know by feel and you can do rolling takeoffs.
Beautiful work ❤
Your procedure also ensures you confirm full symetrical power from both engines, before the takeoff roll. Pretty nasty to find out you don't have full power and possibly exit the runway.
Congrats Kay!
Wishing you many happy miles and smiles in your new plane.
Kay thanks for the ride & pictures. That's a beautiful plane, Enjoy. Can't wait to see more videos of you your new plane & Mom & Dad.
Congratulations!! So proud of you! Love watching your video"s!!

Congrats, Kay! That looks like a VERY nice airplane. Counter rotating props - very cool. A big step up from Lil Red. I'm very happy for you. 🙂
Congratulations!! NICE PLANE!! Awesome!!
My Dad was Senior Electrical Engineer at P/A VRB 33 years on the Seneca 1 2 and 3. The Seneca 2 and 3 is a GREAT Aircraft! I only have 5 hours in the Seneca, The Piper Aire is gtrat! It was designed and built in hot ass VRB so it has got to be good A/C!! Enjoy!
Wow, beautiful machine. Congrats! Looking forward to your new adventures.
That's some fancy instruments.
Nice plane.
Happy flying.

Wow, now you got a plane... a twin, I´m proud of you, congrats and have great flights...
Such a delightful first flight for you. And I'm not at all surprised you ended up buying it. It's a beautiful airplane Kay, congratulations!
Congratulations and can't wait to see you flying in your new plane! It's a beauty and looks very well maintained. Good luck and you deserve this upgrade.
Kay, to answer your dad's question about the wastegates.......not in a Seneca III. On modern turbo charged airplanes (and I think the Seneca V) the wastegates are automatic, they have a pressure controller and that uses oil pressure to operate the wastegate to maintain a desired Manifold Pressure. The Seneca III has fixed wastegates. With nothing automatic, and no way to bleed off (bypass) excess exhaust pressure, at low altitudes, and the throttles open, it WILL overboost. As you figured out, you never takeoff with the throttles full forward, unless maybe at a high elevation airport on a hot day. Another type of system is manual wastegates, they have another control, almost like a 2nd throttle. You can leave the wastegates open, produce no boost, firewall the throttle for T/O. (or be ham fisted with it during training) and the engine is just like it's normally aspirated, but as you climb and start losing power, you manually start closing the wastegate and increasing your manifold pressure, Then that secondary control becomes your "throttle" at higher altitudes.
Way to go! Hope to see your first video from the new Piper Seneca. Big transition to twin power with lots of advantages. GOOD LUCK
Proud of you Kay! You look like a natural flying that plane!!
I’ll be watching. Excited for ya!

Wow, beautiful plane ! 🙂
Wow what a panel in that beautiful plane. I can't wait to see you get checked out in it! I hope to see as much of the multi-engine training and glass panel explanation as you can show. I feel like I was getting pretty familiar with Kays' panel in Little Red and can't wait to get familiarized with the Seneca.
Have to admit, loving that panel in the airplane. The inside is really nice too! Glad you have air condition now.
Hi Kay! I'm not a pilot, but I'm so impressed with your thoroughness and professionalism in your flying. You are a wonderful example for other pilots in training.

Congratulations on the new aircraft! You can always tell when the seller REALLY loved their plane. That is a pampered Seneca. Stay safe.
This is one of the only time any UA-cam channel has been od the test flight for a plane they want to buy! I loved this. Thanks for sharing it.
Wow! You leveled up for real. I'm looking forward to more content in this beauty.
Awesome Kay Congrats.
So awesome! I’m a student pilot. Love your channel! Happy flying!
Me too
NEVER QUIT.
I did after soloing, mainly due to lack of $$$.
I did work in Aviation Maintenance for MANY years, so I stayed 'involved'.
@@Allan_aka_RocKITEman lol I just went solo a few weeks ago in a C-152...I like flying but just can't get into the study well enough to take exams for my PPL (I will have to at some point cause my dad flew planes and will kill me if I don't even give it a try lol). Anyway I thought about quitting every now and then cause it's going to take me years to get my PPL, and I'm only 20, working 3 days a week down from 5-6 days. Luckily I live with my parents so no rent, food bills etc so I feel very very lucky I have money to keep flying for now.
@@emirachelnatalie3397
NOW is the time to get your ratings. If you wait for the right time you will never get to do it. The time will come when you will have rent/mortgage payments, food, utilities and kids. You are in the right place in life to do this kind of stuff.
This is your best video to date, Kay. Best of all it happened at our home airport.
Love your content, good luck with Misty 😉
Beautiful plane and gorgeous pretty Kay ❤❤
Thanks for stopping by my state, Kay.
SEL Pilot and A&P mechanic here love seeing these videos and your progress ! loved working on the senecas back in the day but its nothing like we had, the the avionics that one has ...they did it right. Would love to see some instructional videos showing the new kids how this great modern tool will help things be so much safer. Congrats!!!
Good morning from Minnesota! Great episode! Fantastic airplane!
